Partha reveals road ahead

Four days after Trinamool chief Ms. Mamata Banerjee vowed to bring justice over Rajarhat land, her lieutenant and leader of the opposition Partha Chatterjee charted out the warpath on Thursday — announcing a slew of agitation programmes, including one in front of the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco) office. Partha Chatterjee said the date of the Hidco stir will be finalised at a meeting of the Rajarhat Krishi Jami Raksha Committee on Tuesday. He also announced that all Trinamool Congress leaders have to be present at the programme. “The less I say about Gautam Deb, the better. The minister has been telling lies, showing a bundle of blank papers. Those who have followed his verbose would realise that he is incoherent. Deb and his Hidco have filled up ponds covering a total 2,095 hectares in the entire Rajarhat township. That explains why he proposes to create artificial waterbodies over 511 acres. And, the reference he makes to Ircon’s (under railway ministry) involvement in Rajarhat, is baseless because Mamata was not the railway minister then,†Chatterjee said. He also remarked on the claim that the railways took land from farmers in the state at a cheaper rate. “I do not know why the CPM is blaming the railway ministry for this. The Railways requisitions the land. It is the block land revenue office or the district land revenue office under the state government who do the acquisition. What is the need for these bodies, or even the district magistrate’s office if the railway ministry is to take the blame?†said Chatterjee.
