Mamata stands firm on joint op issue

Reiterating that she had spoken to the prime minister and Union home minister on the withdrawal of central forces from Jangalmahal, the railway minister challenged the CPM to prevent her from making the personnel leave the state. “Nobody from Jangalmahal will vote for you in the elections. This is my challenge. I demanded withdrawal of central forces as the CPM was misusing them. I have taken up the issue with those who matter. The CPM can’t capture power in West Bengal by using the personnel and its harmads. If the CPM has 100,000 harmads, there are 10 crore people who want peace and return of democracy. People of Darjeeling, north Bengal and Jangalmahal want peace. This state has wasted nearly two generations under the CPM. I request you all to give me a single generation of dedicated people and I shall ensure that the state returns to its former glory,†said Ms. Banerjee. Stating that the Trinamool would never force itself on people, she added, “If I realize that people do not like me anymore, I shall move away and try to find out where I went wrong. I will not impose myself on people and point guns at them,†she said.
