Mamata Shines In Starry Evening

Ms. Mamata Banerjee’s dinner with stars from the glamour world and intellectuals on Tuesday evening turned out to be a resounding success after her meeting with the A-list of the business world on Monday. The evening unfolded somewhat in similar fashion to the preceding one. The venue was the same — a residence on Ballygunge Park Road. Among those who attended were economist Aviroop Sarkar, academician Sunando Sanyal, and former bureaucrat Debabrata Bandopadhyay. The glamour world was a list of envy — Prosenjit, Moon Moon Sen, Chiranjeet, Locket Chatterjee, Debashree Ray, Gautam Ghosh, Haradhan Bandopadhyay, Deepankar De, Haranath Chakrabarti and several others from Tollywood. There were the regulars, like artists Suvaprasanna and Samir Aich. As the evening wore on, the guests loosened up. The chatter got livelier. Singer Pratul Mukhopadhyay regaled the gathering with his songs. Dinner comprised Bengali and north Indian delicacies. Ms. Banerjee egged on her guests to take generous helpings. “Please don’t take so little. You must eat well to stay healthy,†she was heard telling a few starlets who were keen to avoid the oily stuff. She exchanged a few words with Prosenjit as she enquired about his forthcoming film ‘Moner Manush’, based on the life of Lalan Fakir. Prosenjit eagerly briefed her about the film and the conversation ended on a happy note with the leader and the actor wishing each other luck for the future. For the second time in a row, Didi had managed to strike a chord with the people who might help to bring about a change.
