Mamata meets Pranab,talks budget session strategy

Kolkata, Feb 4: : Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee called on veteran Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee at the latter’s Kolkata residence late on Friday evening. The two leaders talked for around 45 minutes. During the meeting, Mukherjee sought help from the Trinamool chief in smooth conduct of business in the coming budget session of parliament. The Congress veteran in turn assured that the alliance between Congress and Trinamool is firmly in place.Mamata Banerjee, too, offered full cooperation on the floor of Lok Sabha during the budget session. Addressing newspersons jointly after the meeting, Mukherjee said he had requested Mamata to come to his residence to discuss the floor strategy in parliament during the budget session. Pranab too said, “We are running the government together … We have convened an all-party meeting in Delhi on February 8.But Mamata will not be able to attend that because Saraswati Puja will be observed in Bengal on that day.†The present political situation in Bengal was also discussed in the meeting,said Mukherjee. Mamata said she would send a Trinamool representative to the February 8 meeting in Delhi. We will go by Pranabdas advice, she said, indicating support on the floor of the House.
