Trinamool delegation to meet the Governor

Kolkata, Feb 5: A Trinamool delegation led by the senior leaders, Partha Chatterjee, Sultan Ahmed and Subrata Bakshi will meet the Governor on February 7 to protest against the arrests of Asim Mahato and Amiya Mahato- who were rounded up by the state police with the help of ‘Harmads’ from the Trinamool-led relief camps for people who have been left homeless by the state machinery. It is to be noted that addressing a rally organized by a minority organization a few days ago, Ms. Mamata Banerjee said that CPM, in a bid to recover from the embarrassment of the Netai killings, was trying to establish that armed Maoists were being harboured in relief camps of Trinamool supporters. “But people have seen through this conspiracy, it will not help,” she said. Ms. Banerjee said Maoists had grown in Bengal under CPM’s patronage. “How could the Maoist organization spread to different districts over the years?” she asked. CPM had taken their help in the “recapture” of Keshpur and Garbeta in 2001. Since then, Maoists had been allowed to grow, she said. On the same note Mr. Partha Chatterjee today added that the two Trinamool workers arrested in a relief camp in Midnapore had been “implicated” in false cases. They were not connected with the Silda attack, but there was an attempt to build a case, he said. Therefore, Mr. Chatterjee said, a Trinamool delegation would meet the governor and seek his intervention to stop such arrests.
