Even the witnesses propped up by police are clueless

Midnapore, Feb6: By projecting the two arrested persons as ‘Maoists’ from the Trinamool relief camps in Midnapore, the state government machinery has failed once again. The West Midnapore district police also got labeled as ‘liars’. According to reports, the ‘suspected’ Maoists arrested from the Trinamul relief camp last Monday, later led police to a Salboni jungle where they had hidden arms and ammunition, including an AK47 rifle that the Maoists had looted from the EFR camp in Shilda last year. While the arms were recovered, two villagers were present as witnesses. They are Dipak Mahato and Kalipodo Mahato. But today, these two ‘witnesses’, in an affidavit to the Midnapore Notary has made it known that they don’t know anything about such arms recovery, which allegedly took place at 3 A.M. when they were asleep on their respective residences. They have even accused that the police in wrongfully implicating them on a false case. They did not have any information about arms. They also alleged in the affidavit, that they have come to know that their names were included as witnesses in the case from press while they themselves have not signed in any such documents which make them ‘key witnesses’. The other area where the state police and government got caught as the central detective agencies from Delhi has already reported about the so-called incident. The report clearly mentions that there is no evidence that the recovered AK-47 was stolen from the Silda EFR Camp and that the state police have framed up the whole story.
