The Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) will kickstart the carnival of cinema on November 11 this year with the screening of 155 films from 65 countries across 105 screens at 13 venues in the city.

After being upgraded into a festival of masses, not a selected few, by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2011, the festival now boasts a competitive section too.

In this edition, in a new initiative, 18 shows of nine films will be screened as part of the ‘Parae Parae Cinema’. An exhibition on Uttam Kumar is also on the cards. Mamata Banerjee wanted KIFF to be a festival for all. That has been the endeavour for all the organisers.

China is the focal country this year. Seven films from China, including ‘American Dreams in China’, ‘Black Coal, Thin Ice’ and ‘Wolf Totem’, have been included in the festival.

Another new section in KIFF would be biopics where seven films on the lives of filmmakers will be shown. Besides large screens, a selection of old classical films will also be shown in theatres across the city.

The government has upgraded the screens at Rabindra Sadan and Nandan-II to 2k projection system, he added. The Bengal government has taken an initiative with actress Jaya Bachchan to restore old films.

 

বাংলার গন্ধ মেখে উঠবে চলচ্চিত্র উ९সবের পর্দা

শুরু হচ্ছে ২২ তম আন্তর্জাতিক কলকাতা চলচ্চিত্র উ९সব। ৬৫ দেশের ১৫৫টি ছবি নিয়ে শুরু হচ্ছে এই চলচ্চিত্র উ९সব। দেখানো হবে ১৩ টি পর্দায়।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের চিন্তার পথ ধরেই এগিয়েছে এই উ९সবের সুর।

এবার চলচ্চিত্র উ९সবের থিম হল ‘সিনেমার সবাই, সবার সিনেমা’। আক্ষরিক অর্থে ২২ তম চলচ্চিত্র উ९সবে যেন বৈচিত্র্যের সমাহার। ১১ নভেম্বর নেতাজি ইনডোর স্টেডিয়ামে উদ্বোধন হবে। উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানেও দেখানো হবে বাংলা ছবি।

‘পাড়ায় পাড়ায় সিনেমা’ এর অংশ হিসাবে ৯ টি ছবির ১৮টি শো প্রদর্শিত হবে। উত্তম কুমারের ছবির উপর একটি প্রদর্শনী হবে। মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় চান সাধারণ মানুষ থেকে বুদ্ধিজীবী সকলে এই উ९সবে সামিল হোক।

এবছরের উ९সবে চিনকে বিশেষ মর্যাদা দেওয়া হয়েছে। রয়েছে সেই দেশের ৭ টি সিনেমা। অ্যামেরিকান ড্রিমস ইন সিনেমা, ব্ল্যাক কোল, থিন আইসএবং উল্ফ টোটেম দেখানো হবে এই উ९সবে।

চলচ্চিত্র উ९সবের ছবি দেখানো হবে নন্দন–১, নন্দন–২, নন্দন–৩ ছাড়াও শিশির মঞ্চ, রবীন্দ্রসদন, রক্সি, নজরুল তীর্থ, নবীনা, স্টার থিয়েটার, কার্নিভাল সিনেমা, মিত্রা ও সিটি সেন্টার–১ এর আইনক্সে। ইতিমধ্যেই রবীন্দ্র সদন ও নন্দন চত্বর সবুজায়ন কড়া হচ্ছে ও আরও জায়গা বাড়ানো হচ্ছে। উ९সব চলবে ১৮ নভেম্বর পর্যন্ত।‌‌‌‌

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday urged the people to continue upholding the state’s tradition of secularism and communal harmony during the coming festivities.

Addressing a public meeting in Jhargram in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district, Banerjee thanked the people for maintaining communal harmony throughout the state during the festive season.

“I thank the people of all the religions living in Bengal to celebrate the festivities with peace, love and togetherness. Bengal has always been a pinnacle of secularism and we shall keep it that way,” Banerjee said.

Referring to the clash of dates this year between Durga Puja, the biggest Hindu festival in Bengal and Muharram, the occasion of mourning for the Muslims, she said it is only Bengal that can celebrate both the occasions with such poise and grace.

“Nowhere else in India such religious occasions of two different communities are observed with so much harmony. Bengalis always enjoy the occasions of festivity without caring about its religious origin,” she said.

Banerjee referred to some sporadic incidents of violence in the state as ‘exceptions’ and cautioned people of the ill effects of communal violence.

“People don’t want riots. Anyone who tries to spark communal tension, would be given stern punishment,” she said.

“I thank the people of Bengal for showing religious tolerance and maintaining an environment of peace and harmony in the state. I hope we will celebrate Chath-Puja, Christmas and other coming festivals too in the same mood,” the Chief Minister said.

 

সম্প্রীতির আদর্শ বাংলা:‌ মমতা

বাংলায় দুই সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষ একসঙ্গে উৎসব পালন করতে পারে। পুজো আর মহরম একসঙ্গে হয়। বুধবার ঝাড়গ্রামে এসে একথা বলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি। এদিন ঝাড়গ্রাম স্টেডিয়ামে ছিল মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর উপস্থিতিতে বিজয়া সম্মিলনী।

সভামঞ্চ থেকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘‌এই বাংলায় পুজো আর মহরম একসঙ্গে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। একমাত্র বাংলাতেই হয়, এমনটা অন্য কোথাও দেখতে পাবেন না। এটা গর্বের বিষয়। এত ভাল শান্তি-‌সংহতির জায়গা দু‌টো দেখতে পাবেন না।’‌

তিনি আরও জানান, কলকাতায় আমরা পুজোর আগে ও পুজোর পরে সবাই একসঙ্গে মিলিত হতে পারি। জেলার পুলিস সুপার ও জেলাশাসকরা এই কাজটা খুব ভাল করে করছেন। আমি সবসময় জেলার ওপর গুরুত্ব দিতে বলি‌‌। সে দুর্গাপুজো হোক কিংবা কালীপুজো, জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজো হোক কিংবা আদিবাসীদের করম পুজো। সব উৎসবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। কারণ আমরা উৎসবের মাঝে বেঁচে আছি। উৎসবের মধ্যে প্রাণ আছে। উৎসবই সবার ধর্ম, সবার কর্ম।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘‌আদিবাসী ভাইবোনেরা তাঁদের উৎসব পালন করেন। আমরা তাঁদের সেই ঠাকুরের স্থানটার পাট্টা দিচ্ছি। জাহের স্থানেরও পাট্টা দিচ্ছি। গ্রামের শ্মশানগুলোকে সুন্দর করে গড়ে তোলা হবে’।

তাঁর সংযোজন, “ভ্যাটিকান সিটিতে মাদার টেরিজার সন্ত অনুষ্ঠানে গিয়েছিলাম।  ৪ নভেম্বর শান্তিধামও যাব। একটা অনুষ্ঠান আছে। সর্বধর্ম সমন্বয়ের মধ্যে দিয়ে সুন্দর সমাজ গড়ে ওঠে। ভারতবর্ষ ঐক্যবদ্ধ থাকবে, যতদিন সর্বধর্ম সমন্বয় থাকবে।’‌

তিনি বলেন, ‘কলকাতায় যেমন ভিন রাজ্যের লোক আসেন পুজো দেখতে, তেমন বিদেশ থেকেও দর্শনার্থীরা আসেন’। তাঁর সংযোজন, জেলার পুজোগুলিকে বিশেষ দৃষ্টি দিয়ে দেখতে হয়। পরপর পাঁচ বছর দুর্গাপুজো-‌বকরি ইদ একসঙ্গে হয়েছে। মনে রাখবেন সকলে সব ধর্ম নিয়ে এটা বজায় রেখেছেন।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated US-based hospitality chain JW Marriott’s debut hotel in the city on Tuesday, reiterating her contention that the state had a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.

The opening of JW Marriott hotel in the city proves that Bengal is the destination for investment as it is the gateway to south-east Asian countries, she said while inaugurating the hotel on Eastern Metropolitan Bypass.

Stressing on the strategic importance of Bengal for business, she said, “Bengal is not just a destination for Kolkata. It is the gateway to countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and accessible to Bangkok, Singapore and Myanmar.”

She thanked the authorities of the biggest hotel chain in the world for opening the hotel before the Bengal Global Business Summit scheduled to be held on January 20-21, 2017 where delegates from many foreign countries to the city will attend this conference.

The Bengal CM also informed about the company’s plan to invest in another hotel at Siliguri. The superstructure, spread over 1.3 acres of land on Hillcart Road, would comprise 138 rooms. It will be thrown open to the public by the end of 2017.

রাজ্যে পর্যটন শিল্প বাড়ছে৷ ভিনদেশের পর্যটকরা আসছেন৷ তাই হোটেল ব্যবসা বাড়ছে৷ একের পর এক বিলাসবহুল হোটেল খুলছে রাজ্যে৷ কলকাতায় জে ডবলিউ ম্যারিয়ট হোটেলের উদ্বোধনে এই মন্তব্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের৷ তিনি বলেন, “দীপাবলির আগে কলকাতাকে আলোকিত করল ম্যারিয়ট হোটেল৷ আপনারা এগিয়ে যান৷ আমরা সঙ্গে আছি৷” পাশাপাশি আগামী ২০-২১ জানুয়ারি বেঙ্গল গ্লোবাল সামিট হবে জানিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “যে কোনও প্রকল্প যাতে সুষ্ঠুভাবে হয় তার জন্য সরকার সবসময় সাহায্য করে৷ সহযোগিতা করে৷ কলকাতা হল নেপাল, ভুটান, বাংলাদেশ শুধু নয়, ব্যাংকক, সিঙ্গাপুর, মায়ানমারের গেটওয়ে৷ পর্যটকদেরও পছন্দের গন্তব্য৷ শিল্পও বাড়ছে৷ বহু হোটেল তো আছে৷ নতুন অনেকে আসছে৷ ব্যবসা না হলে তারা আসত?”

সায়েন্স সিটির কাছেই ম্যারিয়ট গোষ্ঠীর হোটেল দরজা খুলল মঙ্গলবার৷ যদিও পুরোপুরি পরিষেবা চালু হতে আরও কয়েকদিন লাগবে৷ কিন্তু ইতিমধ্যেই বেশ কিছু বুকিং হয়ে গিয়েছে৷ মনি গোষ্ঠী ও সত্ত্বা গোষ্ঠীর হাত ধরে কলকাতায় পা রাখল ম্যারিয়ট৷ ২৮১টি ঘর, মহানগরের সর্ববৃহৎ বলরুম, নিশি-উপভোগের জন্য নাইট ক্লাব ‘গোল্ড’, সুইমিং পুল, স্পা এবং আরও অনেক কিছু, যার জন্য সেপ্টেম্বর পর্যন্ত খরচ হয়েছে প্রায় ১২০০ কোটি টাকা৷ যে প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধনে চিফ অপারেটিং অফিসার রাজীব মেমন বলেছেন, “কলকাতা সম্পর্কে ধারণা বদলেছে৷ এক সময় সুনামে কিছুটা হলেও ঘুন ধরেছিল, এখন সেই অবস্থা বদলেছে৷” এজন্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর প্রশংসাও করেছেন তিনি৷ অর্থমন্ত্রীর সহযোগিতার কথা বলে তাঁর মন্তব্য, “উনিও এই প্রকল্প গড়ে তোলার জন্য নানাভাবে সাহায্য করেছেন, উৎসাহিত করেছেন৷”

In order to strengthen business ties with US, Bengal Finance, Commerce and Industries minister Dr Amit Mitra spent one-and-a-half hours with the US India Business Council (USIBC), a little after Monday midnight, on video conference.

The meeting, attended by USIBC president Mukesh Aghi, global CEO of MasterCard Ajay Banga, Ambassador Frank Wisner, consul general of India in New York Riva Ganguly Das and 35 others, was held in New York. Along with Dr Mitra, Trinamool MP and spokesperson Derek O’Brien pitched Bengal as the next global destination.

Pointing out that at the macro-economic level, the growth of Bengal stood far above that of the rest of the country, the state finance minister cited four examples based on 2015-16 figures that showed that the state outpaced GVA growth nationally by 4.72%, industrial sector growth by 3.29%, agricultural sector growth by 4.45% and services sector growth by 4.79%.

Dr Mitra further said that the state economy was at a more solid footing compared to that during the Left rule in 2010-11. The GSDP (at current prices) has doubled, fiscal deficit and revenue deficit has been brought down, and state’s own taxes have doubled in four years. Plan expenditure has grown thrice and capital expenditure has grown by seven times. Physical infrastructure in the state had grown fourfold, he added.

“Changes in Bengal in the past five years have been palpable and terrific,” said Ajay Banga, chairman emeritus of USIBC & global CEO of MasterCard.

“The 90-minute meeting was purposive. The Q&A session was also invigorating. We are glad that delegates in NYC were receptive to hard numbers about Bengal growth story of 5 years under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee,” O’Brien said.

 

মার্কিন শিল্পপতিদের রাজ্যে বিনিয়োগের আহ্বান শিল্পমন্ত্রীর

রীতিমতো নজিরবিহীনভাবে মধ্যরাতে নবান্ন থেকে ভিডিও কনফারেন্সের মাধ্যমে মার্কিন শিল্পপতিদের এ রাজ্যে বিনিয়োগের জন্য আহ্বান জানানো হল। সোমবার রাত সাড়ে ১১টা থেকে সওয়া ১টা পযর্ন্ত নবান্নের ১৩ তলার কনফারেন্স রুম থেকে ওই ভিডিও কনফারেন্স করেন অর্থ ও শিল্পমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র। অপরদিকে নিউইয়র্কের মিডটাউনের মার্কিন ইন্ডিয়া বিজনেস কাউন্সিলের বোর্ড রুমে ছিলেন প্রায় ৫০ জন শিল্পপতি ও শিল্পসংস্থার কর্ণধার। সেই তালিকায় গ্লোবাল মাস্টার কার্ডের চেয়ারম্যান অজয় বাঙ্গা, ফ্র্যাঙ্ক উইজনারসহ একাধিক বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তি উপস্থিতি ছিলেন।

রাজ্য সরকার তথা এদেশের প্রতিনিধি হিসাবে নিউইয়র্কে ভিডিও কনফারেন্সে উপস্থিত ছিলেন তৃণমূলের রাজ্যসভার সদস্য ডেরেক ও ব্রায়েন এবং নিউইয়র্কে নিযুক্ত ভারতের রাষ্ট্রদূত। রাজ্য সরকারের তরফে অমিত মিত্র ছাড়াও শিল্পদপ্তরের প্রধান সচিব এসএম কৃষ্ণা এবং ডব্লুবিআইডিসি’র ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টর সুরেন্দ্র গুপ্তা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

নিউইয়র্কে সময় তখন বেলা ২টো। ভিডিও কনফারেন্সের শুরুতেই মার্কিন ইন্ডিয়া বিজনেস কাউন্সিলের তরফে দ্বিতীয় বার জয়ের জন্য মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়কে শুভেচ্ছা জানানো হয়। সেই সঙ্গে তারা জানিয়ে দেয়, পেপসি, কোকাকোলা, কগনিজ্যান্ট-র মতো মার্কিন সংস্থা রা঩জ্যে রয়েছে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ শুধু উত্তর পূর্বাঞ্চল নয়, এশিয়ান দেশগুলির গেটওয়ে। অমিত মিত্র রাজ্যের রাজনৈতিক স্থিতিশীলতার ব্যাখ্যা করে বলেন, রাজ্যে শিল্প বিনিয়োগের পরিবেশ রয়েছে। এ রাজ্য থেকে বাংলাদেশ, নেপাল, ভুটানেও ব্যাবসার সুযোগ রয়েছে। কগনিজ্যান্ট নতুন করে ১৫ একর জমি নিয়েছে। সেখানে পুনরায় তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি সংস্থা চালু করবে। নতুন করে ১৫ হাজার কর্মসংস্থান হতে চলেছে। কোকাকোলা ১২০০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করেছে। তাদের প্রতিষ্ঠানে ‘মাজা’ তৈরি হচ্ছে। রাজ্যে বিনিয়োগের সব সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।

সেই সব দিক ব্যাখ্যা করতে গিয়ে কত রাস্তা হয়েছে, কত স্কুল, কলেজ, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় তৈরি হয়েছে তার উল্লেখ করেন অমিতবাবু। মার্কিন শিল্পপতিরা অমিতবাবুর কাছে জিএসটি নিয়ে রাজ্যের স্ট্যান্ড জানতে চান। তিনি বলেন, আর কোনও সংস্থাকে একাধিক ট্যাক্স দিতে হবে না। একটি ট্যাক্সের মাধ্যমে সব ট্যাক্স দেওয়া যাবে। তিনি যে জিএসটি’র এমপাওয়ার্ড কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান, তাও জানিয়ে দেন। সেই ভিডিও কনফারেন্সে নিউইয়র্কে উপস্থিত রাজ্যসভার সাংসদ ডেরেক ও ব্রায়েনও কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের ভূমিকারও ব্যাখ্যা করেন। ভারত ও পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সম্পর্কে অভিজ্ঞ ফ্র্যাঙ্ক উইজনারও পৌনে দু’ঘণ্টার ভিডিও কনফারেন্স নানা বিষয় তুলে ধরেন। জানতে চান, দেশ ও রাজ্যের রাজনৈতিক পরিস্থিতি।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের শুধু রাজনৈতিক পরিবর্তন নয়, অর্থনৈতিক পরিবর্তনও জানতে চান অমিত মিত্রের কাছে। অমিতবাবু তাঁদের কাছে আগেই পাঁচ পাতার নোট পাঠিয়েছিলেন। সোমবার গভীর রাতে রাজনৈতিক পরিবর্তনের পুরো ব্যাখ্যা করেন। জানিয়ে দেন, রাজ্য স্থায়ী সরকার চলছে। সেই সঙ্গে পরিকাঠামো, ভারী শিল্প, শিক্ষা, পর্যটন, তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি সেক্টরে বিনিয়োগ করার জন্য আহ্বান জানান। সেই সঙ্গে আগামী ২০-২১ জানুয়ারি বিশ্ববঙ্গ সম্মেলনে হাজির হওয়ার জন্য মার্কিন শিল্পপতিদের কাছে আবেদন করেন শিল্পমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র। মার্কিন ইন্ডিয়া বিজনেস কাউন্সিলের এক প্রতিনিধিদল এ রাজ্যে আসতে পারে বলে নবান্ন সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday cautioned political parties not to create communal tension ahead of Kali Puja.

“There may be groups trying to provoke communal violence. Be extremely careful. If there are attempts to instigate people then inform the police immediately. Do not allow rumours to spread,” the Chief Minister said at Nabanna.

The Chief Minister said that those trying to create divisions among people are against the welfare of the state. “The State Government will not tolerate any kind of destructive activities. All emergency department personnel will be on duty during the forthcoming festive days, as they had been during the recently concluded Durga Puja. Appreciate their efforts and cooperate with them so that the coming festival days remain totally peaceful,” the Chief Minister said.

At the State cabinet meeting yesterday, the Chief Minister issued a note of caution against probable instigation to spread communal violence. She asked all her cabinet colleagues to be extra careful during the festival days. Public representatives have also been asked to make themselves accessible to the masses and keep a close vigil on the situation. The police force have also been instructed to take immediate and strong action against anyone attempting to spread rumours.

 

সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি বজায় রাখার বার্তা দিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

কালীপুজো, ছট পুজো ও জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজোর সময় রাজ্যে সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি বজায় রাখতে মন্ত্রীদের সতর্ক থাকার নির্দেশ দিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। পাশাপাশি তিনি পুজো কমিটিগুলি ও সাধারণ মানুষের কাছেও আবেদন রেখেছেন কোনওরকম প্ররোচনার ফাঁদে পা না দিতে।

তাঁর কথায়, “চক্রান্ত হচ্ছে বা অন্যায় দেখলে প্রতিবাদ করতে হবে। বাংলা বিশ্বের দরবারে যাতে গর্ব করার মতো জায়গায় না থাকতে পারে, তার জন্য চক্রান্ত চলছে। কেউ বিভেদ করতে চাইলে মেনে নেবেন না”।

সোমবার নবান্নের সামনে দমকলের নতুন ৫০টি গাড়ির যাত্রার সূচনা অনুষ্ঠানে যেমন এই বার্তা দিয়েছেন, তেমনই মন্ত্রীসভার বৈঠকেও মন্ত্রীদের সতর্ক থাকতে বলেছেন তিনি। সেখানে ধর্মীয় উসকানির বিষয়টিও স্পষ্ট সতর্ক করে দিয়েছেন তিনি। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন, অনেকেই সাম্প্রদায়িক বিভেদ ঘটাতে উসকানি দিচ্ছে, সেদিকে খেয়াল রাখতে হবে। আগেও এমন খবর এসেছে।বিধায়কদের পাশে নিয়ে সাধারণ মানুষের পাশে থেকে সতর্ক নজর রাখার কথা বলেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

সোমবার দমকলের অনুষ্ঠানে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী  বলেন, “সবাই যেন ভালো থাকে। দুর্ভোগ বা দুর্যোগের উ९সব চাই না।” তিনি সতর্ক করে দিয়েছেন, খেয়াল রাখতে হবে আমার আনন্দ যেন অপরের নিরানন্দের কারণ না হয়।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্য, “ধর্মে-কর্মে বিভেদ করে যারা, তারাই ধ্বংস করে, সৃষ্টি নয়। আমরা মৃত্যু নয়, জীবন চাই।” পাশাপাশি ধর্মীয় বিভেদকারীদের বিষয়ে মানুষকে সতর্ক করে তিনি বলেন, “যারা ধর্মের নামে বিভেদ করে, তারা পরিবারের মধ্যে বিভেদ করবে। এলাকায় এলাকায় বিভেদ করে দেবে। এটাই ওদের কাজ।”

তিনি বলেন, “দুঃখ, কষ্ট থাকতে পারে, তা বলে উত্সব থেমে থাকবে না। অপসংস্কৃতি নয়, সংস্কৃতি চাই। বাংলার মাটি সভ্যতার মাটি। পাঁচ বছরে বাংলায় অনেক কাজ হয়েছে। আরও কাজ করতে হবে।”

The Bengal Government, under the initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken upon a project to set up 56 deep tube-wells in five moujas of Singur so that farmers are able to take up proper irrigation measures.

After returning cultivable lands to the farmers in Singur, mini deep tube-wells are now being set up in Gopalnagar, Khasebheri, Beraberi, Singer Bheri and Bajemelia moujas.

Incidentally, the erstwhile Left Front Government had dismantled 50 tube-wells in the region in 2006.

The work for setting up the tube-wells was taken up in war footing and a part of the work has already been completed. The Government had a view to ensure the setting up of a proper irrigation system in the returned farmlands in Singur, and it has kept its word. The Government has also provided the farmers with farming equipment and crop seeds.

It may be recalled that the land in Singur was so fertile that it yielded three crops per year. Mamata Banerjee had made it a point to stand beside the farmers of Singur and she kept her promise by starting the providing of cultivable land to the farmers on October 20.

 

সিঙ্গুরের কৃষকদের সেচের কাজে সাহায্য করবে প্রশাসন

সেচের কাজে যাতে কৃষকদের কোনোভাবে বাধার সম্মুখীন না হতে হয়, সেই জন্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় একটি প্রকল্প গ্রহণ করেছেন, যার মাধ্যমে সিঙ্গুরের অন্তর্গত ৫টি মৌজাতে ৫৬টি গভীর নলকূপ নির্মাণ করা হবে।

আপাতত, কৃষিজমি ফেরত দেওয়ার পর গোপালনগর, খাসেবেড়ি, বেড়াবেড়ি, সিঙেরবেড়ি ও বাজেমেলিয়া মৌজাগুলিতে ছোট ছোট নলকূপ তৈরী করা হচ্ছে।

প্রসঙ্গত উল্লেখ্য, পূর্ববর্তী বাম সরকার ২০০৬ সাল থেকে ওই অঞ্চলের ৫০টি নলকূপ বন্ধ করে দিয়েছিল।

আপাতত নলকূপ নির্মাণের কাজ চলছে ও বেশ কিছুটা কাজ এগিয়েও গেছে। সরকারের পূর্বনির্ধারিত দিনের মধ্যেই সব কৃষককে তাদের কৃষিজমি ফেরত দেওয়া হয়েছে, সঙ্গে তাদের কৃষিকাজে প্রয়োজনীয় সব উপকরণ ও ফসলের বীজ প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

সিঙ্গুরের জমি এতটাই উর্বর ছিল যে সেখানে বছরে ৩ বার চাষ করা যেত। মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় কৃষকদের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর আশ্বাস দিয়েছিলেন এবং তাঁর দেওয়া কথামতো তিনি ২০ অক্টোবর থেকে কৃষকদের কৃষি জমি ফেরত দেওয়ার প্রক্রিয়া শুরু করে দিয়েছেন।

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today flagged off 50 fire tenders from Nabanna, which will serve under different fire stations across the State. The State Fire Services & Emergency Services Minister was present on the occasion along with other Government officials.

Of the 50 fire tenders, 20 are of 5000-litre capacity, which are equipped with low-pressure pumps, and cutting and lifting equipment. The rest 30 are of 2500-litre capacity, which can move into narrow lanes and hilly areas with ease. All of these are also equipped with modern water mist technology. The State now has more than 650 operational fire tenders.

The Government has prioritised the modernisation of fire and emergency services, setting up modern control rooms in the State headquarters as well as in the divisional headquarters equipped with a modern communication system, and facilities for recording and analysing calls and dispatching fire tenders to the affected places, GPS system in fire tenders for finding out their locations, etc. Fire stations have been provided with mobile sets and walki-talkies.

The new equipment and machinery that has been added to the fleet include high- and low-pressure water tenders, mid-sized water tenders, emergency tenders, operational vehicles, motorcycles, two hydraulic platforms (one 54 metre and the other 42 metres high) for fire-fighting and rescue in high-rise buildings, hydraulic rescue tools, circular saw, chainsaw and diamond saw (three types of cutting and breaking tools), compressor machine for BA sets, various types of search and rescue equipment, towing vehicles, and various types of station-level equipment like lock cutters, face masks, suction hoses, foam-making branches, insulated axes, insulated pliers, searchlights, hose control clamps, short branches, different types of extinguishers, etc.

 

 

নবান্নে ৫০টি দমকল গাড়ির শুভ সূচনা করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ অগ্নিনির্বাপণ ও জরুরী পরিষেবার ব্যবস্থাপনায় আজ নবান্ন থেকে ৫০-টি নতুন দমকল গাড়ির শুভ সূচনা করেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

অগ্নিনির্বাপণ ব্যবস্থায় বেশ কিছু আধুনিকীকরণ হয়েছে এবং সেই সঙ্গে নতুন আধুনিক কন্ট্রোল রুম খোলা হচ্ছে। সেখানে আধুনিক যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা, রেকর্ডিং,,অ্যানালাইজিং , ডিসপ্যাচিং-এর সঙ্গে সঙ্গে দমকলগুলি কখন কোথায় আছে তা জানার জন্য জিপিএস সিস্টেম সহ অনেকরকম সুযোগ-সুবিধা চালু করা হয়েছে। ফায়ার স্টেশনগুলিকে মোবাইল সেট এবং ওয়াকি-টকি পরিষেবা প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

আজ যে পঞ্চাশটি দমকলের উদ্বোধন করা হল তার মধ্যে ২০-টি ইঞ্জিন ৫,০০০ লিটার এবং বাকি ৩০-টি ২,৫০০ লিটার ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন। এগুলি আধুনিক প্রযুক্তিতে তৈরি এবং অল্প জায়গায় খুব সহজেই ব্যবহার্য। বর্তমানে রাজ্যে ৬৫০-টি কার্যকরী দমকল রয়েছে।

নতুন কিছু নির্বাপক সরঞ্জাম ও যন্ত্রপাতিরও ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে, যেমন হাই এবং লো প্রেশার ওয়াটার টেন্ডার, মাঝারি আকারের ওয়াটার টেন্ডার, এমারজেন্সি টেন্ডার, অপারেশনাল যানবাহন, মোটরসাইকেল, দুটি হাইড্রোলিক প্ল্যাটফর্ম (একটি ৫৪ মিটার এবং অপরটি ৪২ মিটার), হাইড্রোলিক রেসকিউ টুলস্‌, মাস্ক, সাকশান হোস, ফোম তৈরির পাইপ, ইনসুলেটেড অ্যাক্স, ইনসুলেটেড পিলার, সার্চলাইট, বিশেষ নিয়ন্ত্রণ ক্ল্যাম্প, ইত্যাদি।

The State Co-operation Department is all set to bring self-help groups under insurance coverage to ensure their financial security in case there is any untoward incident. Different steps were taken on the inspiration of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to promote the work of the Self Help Groups in Bengal.

Interestingly, 95 per cent of the loan which was given to the Self Help Groups has been recovered in the last financial year. There are around 1.95 lakh Self Help Groups registered with the state co-operation department. If everything goes as planned, the task of the bringing them under the security coverage will be done in the current fiscal.

With the Chief Minister’s initiative to introduce Biswa Bangla brand to promote the goods manufactured by the small scale enterprises and Self Help Groups in the state, the business of the groups have sustained growth in the past five years.

Unlike the erstwhile Left Front government that had just set up some stalls in government offices and complexes to promote the produce of the Self Help Groups, Mamata Banerjee government had taken major steps for promotion of the same not only in the local market but in other states and abroad.

 

স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলিকে বীমার আওতায় আনছে রাজ্য সরকার

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় রাজ্য কোঅপারেটিভ দফতর এবার যেকোনো প্রতিকূল অবস্থার মোকাবিলা করার জন্য স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলিকে বীমার আওতায় আনতে চলেছে। এজন্য বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হচ্ছে।

প্রসঙ্গত, স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলিকে যে ঋণ দেওয়া হয়েছিল বিগত আর্থিক বছরে তার ৯৫ শতাংশই ফেরত পাওয়া গেছে। আনুমানিক ১ লক্ষ ৯৫ হাজার স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী এই মুহূর্তে রাজ্য কোঅপারেটিভ দফতরে নথিভুক্ত। সব কিছু ঠিকঠাক চললে এই বীমার অন্তর্ভুক্ত করার কাজটি চলতি আর্থিক বছরের মধ্যেই সম্পন্ন হবে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর ঐকান্তিক চেষ্টায় ক্ষুদ্র শিল্প ও স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলির তৈরী হস্তশিল্প বিশ্ব বাংলার মাধ্যমে বিগত ৫ বছরে সারা বিশ্বে ব্যাবসায় সাফল্যের মুখ দেখেছে।

রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তে, অন্যান্য রাজ্য এবং বিদেশেও ক্ষুদ্র শিল্প ও স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীগুলির ব্যবসার জন্য বিপণন কেন্দ্র খুলে দিয়েছে মমতা বন্দোপাধ্যায় পরিচালিত সরকার।

The State Agriculture Department will introduce modern agro-science-based technologies for better cultivation of the 997 acres of land in Singur, in consultation with farmers to develop a new arena of agro-economy.

The State Government will be providing all sorts of support to the farmers until the first crop is harvested.

The State Irrigation Department would ensure sufficient supply of water for agriculture in the entire area. The Panchayat Department will also be completing a set of work that needs to be done for the benefits of the farmers.

Initially, the farmers in Singur have been recommended to cultivate spinach and mustard as it would help in preparing the soil for cultivation of potato.

সিঙ্গুরের ৯৯৭ একর জমিতে ভালোভাবে চাষের জন্য এবং সিঙ্গুরের কৃষি-অর্থনীতির উন্নয়নের জন্য আধুনিক কৃষি-প্রযুক্তির মাধ্যমে কৃষকদের প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করেছে রাজ্য কৃষি দপ্তর।

রাজ্য সরকার কৃষকদের সবরকম সহায়তা প্রদান করবে যতদিন না পর্যন্ত প্রথম ফসল তোলা হয়।

রাজ্য সেচ দপ্তর ওই এলাকায় প্রয়োজনীয় জল সরবরাহ করবে। পঞ্চায়েত দপ্তরও কৃষকদের উন্নতির জন্য বেশ কিছু উদ্যোগ নিতে চলেছে।

প্রাথমিকভাবে, সিঙ্গুরে কৃষকদের পালংশাক ও সর্ষে চাষ করতে সুপারিশ করা হয়েছে।

HIDCO, the State Government agency which has already undertaken the mammoth task of beautifying New Town, will begin conservation of handicrafts and artworks that were created by various Durga Puja organisers.

It will also display the beautiful handicrafts and artworks across Eco Park in New Town.

While artworks made out of fibreglass, stone, steel and similar materials will be kept outdoors at Eco Park, those made out of wood, cotton and earth will be kept indoors.

For outdoor installations, a brick and cement foundation with spotlights and fencing would be built by HIDCO. For indoor objects, an air-conditioned facility would be set up at Mother’s Wax Museum-II, which is to be commissioned shortly: till then, these are to be kept in storage rooms within Eco Park.

 

দুর্গাপুজো মণ্ডপগুলির শিল্প সংরক্ষণে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য

রাজ্য সরকারী সংস্থা হিডকো নিউ টাউনে নানা দুর্গাপুজো মণ্ডপগুলির শিল্প–নিদর্শন সংরক্ষণের ব্যবস্থা করবে। নিউ টাউনের ইকো পার্কে দুর্গাপুজো মণ্ডপগুলির বিভিন্ন হস্তশিল্প এবং কারুকার্য প্রদর্শন করা হবে।

ফাইবার গ্লাস, পাথর, ইস্পাত এবং অনুরূপ উপকরণ দিয়ে তৈরি হস্তশিল্পগুলি রাখা হবে ইকো পার্কের বাইরের অংশে। আর কাঠ, কাপড় এই জাতীয় হস্তশিল্পগুলি স্থান পাবে প্রদর্শনশালার ভিতরের অংশে।

বাইরে  ইনস্টলেশনের জন্য, স্পটলাইট এবং বেড়া দিয়ে একটি ইট ও সিমেন্ট ভিত্তিপ্রস্তর নির্মাণ করবে হিডকো। ভেতরের শিল্প–নিদর্শন মাদার অয়াক্স মিউজিয়াম -II তে একটি শীতাতপ নিয়ন্ত্রিত ঘরে রাখা হবে। যতদিন না এগুলো ইকো পার্কের অন্য কোন স্থানে পাঠানো হচ্ছে ততদিন পর্যন্ত এগুলো ওখানেই রাখা থাকবে।
