On Tuesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated a number of Kali Puja pandals. Speaking on the occasion, she once again communal politics of the BJP.

She said that the BJP is doing communal politics and is trying to divide people on the basis of religion, something which the people of Bengal won’t tolerate. The BJP is doing this because it does not have any acceptance here.

She said she has nothing but hate for those who use others’ religious beliefs to hold on to their existence. It is a personal matter as to who wants to follow which religion; nobody can force a belief on another person. It is the duty of those in power to unite people, not divide them.

Many people intentionally keep beef inside temples and then spread the rumour that someone has done it hurt religious beliefs. One of them was caught red-handed and had admitted that he was a BJP member. Therefore the Chief Minister asked everyone not to fall into the trap of communal misinformation.

She said that the colour of the blood of both Hindus and Muslims was the same – red. In Bengal, people of different religious denominations and beliefs stay in unity. Hence, she appealed to everyone to stay together in peace.

মঙ্গলবার শহরে একাধিক কালীপুজোর উদ্বোধন করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সেখান থেকে আরও একবার কেন্দ্রের বিজেপি সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে তোপ দাগেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

ধর্মের নামে ভেদাভেদের রাজনীতি করছে বিজেপি যা বাংলায় বরদাস্ত করা হবে না। বিজেপির কোন গ্রহণযোগ্যতা নেই তাই ওরা গুরুত্ব পেতে ভাগাভাগির রাজনীতি করছে। তাঁর কথায়, “যারা নিজেদের অস্তিত্ব বজায় রাখতে ধর্মকে বিক্রি করে তাদের আমি ঘৃণা করি। কে কোন ধর্ম পালন করবে সেটা তাঁর ব্যক্তিগত বিষয়। কেউ চাইলেই কিছু চাপিয়ে দিতে পারে না। চেয়ারে যারা থাকে মানুষের মধ্যে ভেদাভেদ তাদের মানায় না, সকলকে একজোট করে রাখতে হবে”।

“অনেকে মন্দিরে গরুর মাংস ফেলে যায়। আবার নিজেরাই তার প্রচার করে অশান্তি ছড়ায়। একজন হাতে নাতে ধরা পড়েছিল এবং সে যে বিজেপির সদস্য তাও স্বীকার করেছিল।” তাই মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সতর্কবার্তা কোনও প্ররোচনায় পা দেবেন না।

তাঁর কথায়, “হিন্দু মুসলমান সকলের রক্তই এক। বাংলায় বিভিন্ন ধর্মের, বিভিন্ন বর্ণের মানুষ বাস করে”। তাই সবাইকে নিয়ে একসাথে চলার আবেদন করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

Kolkata is one of the host cities for FIFA U-17 World Cup. Several important matches of the tournament are to held in the next few days – quarter-final, third-place play off and final – at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (popularly called Salt Lake Stadium).

It is estimated that there will be huge turnouts at the stadium for these matches and so the police and administration are taking all possible measures to ensure the convenience of the spectators.

Keeping the return journey of the spectators in mind, the State Government has decided to run 110 special buses on the days of the matches on three routes – from Amul Island near the stadium to Sealdah, Howrah and Jadavpur.

The buses will be stationed at GD Island and from 6:30 pm, they will start leaving along the three routes based on demand.

বিশ্বকাপে দর্শকদের সুবিধার্থে এবার ১১০টি বাস চালাবে রাজ্য

কলকাতায় বিশ্বকাপের খেলা এখনও অনেকগুলি বাকি। তার মধ্যে আছে কোয়ার্টার ফাইনাল, তৃতীয় স্থানের খেলা ও ফাইনাল খেলা। এই খেলাগুলিকে কেন্দ্র করে মানুষের ভিড়ের পরিমাণ সর্বাধিক হতে পারে তার অনুমান করে ফেলেছে পুলিশ।

মানুষের ফেরার সময় বাসের চাহিদার কথা মাথায় রেখে স্পেশ্যাল ১১০টি বাস – যা রাজ্যের পক্ষ থেকে বিশ্বকাপ উপলক্ষে চালু করা হয়েছিল – তিনটি রুটে চালানো হবে। এই রুটগুলি হল, আমুল আইল্যান্ড থেকে শিয়ালদহ, হাওড়া ও যাদবপুর। কারণ, এই তিনটি রুটের বাসের চাহিদা সব থেকে বেশী।

খেলা শেষ হওয়ার আগে, অর্থাৎ সন্ধ্যা সাড়ে ৬টা থেকে ওই বাসগুলিকে জিডি আইল্যান্ডের কাছে দাঁড় করিয়ে রাখবে পুলিশ। পরে চাহিদা অনুযায়ী, ওই বাসগুলিকে বিভিন্ন রুটে ভাগ করে মানুষের যাতায়াতের সুবিধে করে দেওয়া হবে।

Within the next five years, Bengal would become self-reliant in the production of onion. This is the result of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s special attention on the agriculture sector, one of the results of which is the state winning the Krishi Karman award given by the Central Government six years in a row.

From 20 per cent in 2011 (when Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee came to power), the State Government now produces as much as 55 per cent, or 5.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, of the domestic demand, according to the vice-chairman of West Bengal Agro Industries Corporation (WBAIC).

The State Government is conducting awareness workshops with experts to encourage farmers to also plant onion crops. The state has been categorised based on the three components of soil condition, climatic condition and facilities for irrigation to cultivate the right crop at the right place so that farmers get worth of their hard labour.

The Pashimanchal area, comprising of Bankura, Purulia, Paschim Medinipur, Birbhum and Bardhaman districts, produces most of the onion crops. Onion is cultivated twice a year – during the rainy season and during winter.

আগামী পাঁচ বছরে পেঁয়াজ উৎপাদনে স্বনির্ভর হতে চলেছে রাজ্য, আশাবাদী সরকার

রাজ্যে বার্ষিক পেঁয়াজের চাহিদা আনুমানিক ৫.৫লক্ষ মেট্রিক টন। ২০১১ সাল পর্যন্ত রাজ্য মাত্র এর ২০ শতাংশ উৎপাদন করতে পারত। গত ছয় বছরে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বাধীন সরকারের নানা উদ্যোগে উৎপাদন বেড়ে হয়েছে ৫৫ শতাংশ। এখনও ৪৫ শতাংশ পেঁয়াজ মহারাষ্ট্রের নাসিক থেকে আমদানি করতে হয়। এই হারে উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধি হলে আগামী পাঁচ বছরে রাজ্য পেঁয়াজ উৎপাদনে স্বনির্ভর হতে চলেছে।

রাজ্য সরকারকে পেঁয়াজ আমদানির পরিবহণ বাবদ অনেক টাকা গুনতে হয়। পেঁয়াজ বছরে দু’বার চাষ হয়। একবার হয় বর্ষাকালে যেগুলির রঙ হয় গাঢ় লাল ও আরেকবার চাষ হয় শীতকালে যে পেঁয়াজগুলির রঙ হয় একটু সাদাটে ও নাম সুখসাগর।

রাজ্যে বাঁকুড়া, পুরুলিয়া, পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর, বীরভূম ও বর্ধমানে পেঁয়াজ চাষ হয়। চাষিদের পেঁয়াজ চাষে উৎসাহিত করতে রাজ্য কৃষি দপ্তর রাজ্য জুড়ে বিভিন্ন সচেতনতামূলক কর্মশালা করছে ।

The State Fisheries Development Corporation (SFDC), under the Bengal Fisheries Department, has started the facility of ordering fish online and through SMS. From rohu to catla to bata to all the favourite fishes of Bengalis, are now available from the comfort of one’s home.

The fishes are delivered the day after being ordered. They are delivered on motorbikes, fitted with freezer units to keep the fishes fresh.

Since the fish are procured directly from the fishery cooperatives under the Fisheries Department, they are available at a price cheaper that in the markets. For now, the service is available in Salt Lake and New Town.

রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তর এবার জনগণের জন্য আনল এক বিশেষ পরিষেবা। এবার এসএমএসের মাধ্যমে অনলাইনে মাছের অর্ডার দিতে পারবে যে কেউ। রুই, কাতলা বা বাটা মাছ সবই মিলবে অনলাইনে।

যেদিন অর্ডার দেওয়া হবে তার পরের দিনই মাছ পৌঁছে দেওয়া হবে ফ্রিজযুক্ত মোটরসাইকেলে করে।

যেহেতু এই মাছগুলি মৎস্য দপ্তরের অন্তর্গত মৎস্য সমবায়গুলি থেকে পাওয়া যায়, বাজারের থেকে এই মাছের দাম কম হবে। এই মুহুর্তে এই পরিষেবা সল্টলেক ও নিউটাউনে শুরু করা হয়েছে।

Taking selfies is the craze now, and few experiences can better that of taking a selfie with a royal Bengal tiger. Well, not a live one, but so what? The Sundarbans Walkthrough Diorama at the Marine Aquarium and Regional Centre (MARC) in Digha in Purba Medinipur district gives you that opportunity now.

A diorama is a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures, either in miniature or as a large-scale museum exhibit.

The diorama at MARC is a large-scale exhibit imitating the floral and faunal architecture of the Sundarbans. The soil is just like the soft soil of the Sundarbans. Besides life-size models of tigers, crocodiles and other animals, the life of fishermen of the region has also been depicted.

Entering the diorama would give one the impression that one has come to the Sundarbans. This is as real an experience as a model could give.

Since the Trinamool Congress came to power in 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken a lot of initiatives to make Digha into a world-class resort. Over the last six years, various parks, roads, walkways, etc. have been built. Tourists now have access to a lot of amenities. Biswa Bangla Park has become a tourist hot spot. A coast-hugging highway, named ‘Saikat Sarani’ by Mamata Banerjee, stretches from Digha right through to Udaypur, which has become very popular with tourists. A lot of trees have been planted. A helicopter service has been introduced too, connecting Digha to Kolkata.

দিঘার নয়া আকর্ষণ রয়্যাল বেঙ্গল টাইগারের সঙ্গে সেলফি

নিজের মোবাইলে সেলফি তোলার মজাই আলাদা। তার ওপর সেই সেলফি যদি রয়্যাল বেঙ্গল টাইগারের সঙ্গে হয়, তাহলে তো কথাই নেই। জীবনের ঝুঁকি ছাড়াই দিঘায় সমুদ্রস্নানে এসে সেই সুযোগ নিতে পারবেন পর্যটকেরা। শুধু রয়্যাল বেঙ্গল টাইগার নয়, সুন্দরবনের কুমির কিংবা তিমি মাছের সঙ্গে সেলফি তুলেও হোয়াটস অ্যাপ বা ফেসবুকের ডিপি দিতে পারবেন পর্যটকেরা। তার জন্য দিঘার মেরিন অ্যাকুয়ারিয়ামে একবার আসতেই হবে।

এবার নয়া আকর্ষণ- সুন্দরবন ওয়াকথ্রু ডায়রামা প্রকল্পে মিউজিয়ামের একটা অংশকে সুন্দরবনের পরিবেশের মতো সাজিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে। এই এলাকার মাটি একেবারে সুন্দরবনের এলাকার মাটির মতো তৈরি করা হয়েছে। তার মধ্যে মডেলের মাধ্যমে মৎস্যজীবীদের জীবনযাত্রা, রয়্যাল বেঙ্গল টাইগার, কুমির প্রভৃতি সুন্দরবনের জীবজন্তু তুলে আনা হয়েছে।

এই এলাকায় ঢুকে পড়লে যে কোনও মানুষের মনে হবে তাঁরা সুন্দরবনের কোনও এলাকায় ঢুকে পড়েছেন। ফলে সমুদ্রের আনন্দ নিতে এসে পর্যটকেরা কৃত্রিম ভাবে হলেও সুন্দরবন ঘুরে দেখার স্বাদ নিতে পারবেন।

Football fever is peaking in Bengal, what with the FIFA Under-17 World Cup being organised in Kolkata, which is one of the six venues across India, and also the venue for the final. Along with football, fish is another favourite of Bengalis.

Giving occasion to celebrate the combination of favourites – football and fish – the West Bengal Fisheries Development Corporation (WBFDC) is organising a fish festival across all its restaurants in Kolkata. The festival has been named after Gostho Paul, the first Bengali football icon of the country.

According to an official of WBFDC, the World Cup special menu has been named Football Fever and will be available from October 8 to 28 at select stalls, including the restaurants at Nalban, Eco Park, the State Secretariat, Nabanna and other places. It is priced at Rs 399 per plate.

The Football Fever thali (platter) comprises special jeera rice, googlie (a kind of pond snail) dribble, cooked in the style of fish kabiraji, googlie chop, crab crossbar, prawn malaikari and another prawn preparation named after football, Venmai penalty, which is prawn cooked with parsley leaves and lemon. Another dish, a variation of a Middle Eastern preparation, is also available and is called Ombuck Mustard Kick. To round it off, a dessert in the form of a sandesh named after the apex world football body, FIFA, has been added.

 

অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপ উপলক্ষে মৎস্য উৎসবের সূচনা রাজ্য সরকারের

ভারতের আর ৬টি শহরের মত কলকাতায় অনুষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপ ফুটবল। কলকাতায় অনুষ্ঠিত হবে কোয়ার্টার ফাইনাল, তৃতীয় স্থান ও ফাইনালের মতো উল্লেখযোগ্য খেলা। তাই, ফুটবল বিশ্বকাপকে কেন্দ্র করে এই শহরে এখন টান টান উত্তেজনা।

ফুটবলের মত বাঙালির আরেক প্রিয় জিনিস হল মাছ। বিশ্বকাপকে মাথায় রেখে রাজ্য সরকারের মৎস্য দপ্তর আয়োজন করেছে মৎস্য উৎসবের। মৎস্য দপ্তর রাজ্যে তাদের সব রেস্তোরাঁগুলোতে এই উৎসবের আয়োজন করেছে। এই উৎসবের নাম রাখা হয়েছে ভারতের প্রথম বাঙালী ফুটবলের প্রাণপুরুষ গোষ্ঠ পালের নামে।

বিশ্বকাপের জন্য যে স্পেশ্যাল মেনু করা হয়েছে, তার নাম রাখা হয়েছে ‘ফুটবল ফিভার’। এই মেনুর খাবার পাওয়া যাবে অক্টোবরের ২৮ তারিখ পর্যন্ত। এই রেস্তরাঁগুলো আছে নলবনে, ইকো পার্ক, স্টেট সেক্রেটারিয়েট, নবান্নে ও অন্যান্য স্থানে। এই স্পেশ্যাল মেনুর খাবারের দাম রাখা হয়েছে ৩৯৯ টাকা প্রতি প্লেট।

এই স্পেশ্যাল থালিতে থাকছে, জিরা রাইস, ফিস কবিরাজির আদলে রান্না করা গুগলি, গুগলির চপ, কাঁকড়ার একটি পদ, চিংড়ির মালাইকারি, আরেকটি চিংড়ির পদ যার নাম ফুটবলের নামে রাখা হয়েছে, ভেনমাই পেনাল্টি।

আরেকটি মধ্যপ্রাচ্যের থালি তৈরি করা হয়েছে, নাম দেওয়া হয়েছে ওম্বাক মাস্তার্ড কিক। এই দুটি থালির শেষেই থাকবে একটি বিশেষ ধরনের সন্দেশ, যার নাম রাখা হয়েছে, ফিফা।

The Bengal Government has arranged for water pouches free of cost for the spectators going to the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) to watch the FIFA Under-17 World Cup matches. The pouches are available at ‘May I Help You’ kiosks inside the stadium.

Another measure taken by the government for the ease of spectators is allowing them to carry raincoats, since there is prediction of rain during the duration of the tournament.

These measures are among the many which have made the World Cup a much pleasurable experience for all concerned.

 

যুবভারতীতে দর্শকদের জলের পাউচ দেবে রাজ্য

ফিফা অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপে বিনা পয়সায় জলের পাউচ বিলি করবে রাজ্য সরকার। স্টেডিয়ামের ভিতরে ‘মে আই হেল্প ইউ’ কিয়স্ক থেকে সেই পাউচ সংগ্রহ তৈরি করতে পারবেন খেলা দেখতে আসা দর্শকরা।

খেলার দিনগুলিতে বৃষ্টির পূর্বাভাষ থাকায় ম্যাচ দেখতে আসা দর্শকদের যাতে কোনওরকম অসুবিধা না হয়, সেই দিকে তাকিয়ে মাঠে বর্ষাতি নিয়ে প্রবেশ করার ছাড়পত্র মিলছে দর্শকদের।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting at the State secretariat, Nabanna today to take stock of the State’s preparedness to combat dengue and other diseases which have been occurring recently.

After the meeting she held a press conference, where she asked the district authorities as well as the people to be alert. She said that at the meeting she came to know that in Deganga only one person had died due to dengue. But news reports give the impression that there has been a death parade, and people are running away from their homes.

“If there is an outbreak of a disease, it is our duty to take preventive measures. But one should not spread canards. Spreading rumours is a crime,” the CM added.

The Chief Minister also shared statistics on deaths due to dengue in various States in the last few months:

  • In Gujarat 430 people died due to swine flu
  • In Tamil Nadu 642 people died due to swine flu and 40 died due to dengue
  • In Maharashtra, 437 people died due to swine flu
  • In Kerala, 36 people have died due to dengue.
  • In Lucknow, 141 people and in Delhi, 21 people have died due to dengue.
  • In Bengal, 14 people have died due to dengue in recent times and during the last seven to eight months, 30 people in all have died due to dengue.

 

She also said that two people in Bidhannagar died due to dengue. However, she clarified that these incidents took place in areas where construction for the metro railway is going on, and where a lot of garbage had accumulated. The areas are under the control of Central Government and they are not allowing the local bodies to clean them.

The CM reiterated, “We organised this meeting today because even one death is something to take note of. Our duty is to ensure that people do not get scared, that they get access to proper treatment.”

 

 

ডেঙ্গু নিয়ে অপপ্রচার করে মানুষকে ভয় দেখাবেন নাঃ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

আজ নবান্নে ডেঙ্গু ও অজানা জ্বরের মোকাবিলা করার জন্য একটি পর্যালোচনা বৈঠক করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। মানুষকে সতর্ক থাকার, নিজেদের যত্ন নেওয়ার পরামর্শ দেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। বৈঠকের পর সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হয়ে তিনি বলেন,অপপ্রচার করা হচ্ছে, মানুষকে ভয় দেখানো হচ্ছে।

তিনি আরও বলেন, “মিটিং করতে গিয়ে দেখলাম সংবাদমাধ্যমের একাংশ বলছে দেগঙ্গায় মৃত্যুর মিছিল শুরু হয়েছে। মানুষ নাকি ঘর ছেড়ে চলে যাচ্ছে। রোগ হলে তা প্রতিকার করা আমাদের দায়িত্ব কিন্তু অপপ্রচার করে মানুষকে ভয় দেখানো ঠিক নয়। গুজব ছড়াবেন না। এটা একটা অপরাধ।”

গত কয়েক মাসের পরিসংখ্যান দিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন:

  • গুজরাতে ৪৩০ জন সোয়াইন ফ্লু-তে মারা গেছে
  • তামিলনাড়ু তে ৬৪২ জন সোয়াইন ফ্লু তে ও ৪০ জন ডেঙ্গুতে মারা গেছে,
  • মহারাষ্ট্রে ৪৩৭ জন মারা গেছে সোয়াইন ফ্লু-তে
  • কেরালায় ৩৬ জন মারা গেছে ডেঙ্গুতে
  • লখনৌ তে ১৪১ জন মারা গেছেন ডেঙ্গুতে
  • দিল্লিতে ২১ জন মারা গেছেন ডেঙ্গুতে
  • বাংলায় সম্প্রতি ১৪ জন এবং গত ৭-৮ মাসে মোট ৩০ জন মারা গেছেন ডেঙ্গুতে

 

তিনি আরও বলেন, “বিধাননগরে ২ জন ডেঙ্গুতে মারা গেছেন কারণ ওখানে মেট্রোর কাজ হচ্ছে, ময়লা জমা হচ্ছে। ওই এলাকা কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের আওতায়, ওরা পরিষ্কার করতে দেয় না।”

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী আবারও বলেন, “একজনের মৃত্যুটাও খারাপ, তাই আমাদের এই পর্যালোচনা বৈঠক। মানুষ যাতে ভয় না পায়, সঠিক চিকিৎসা পায় সেদিকে নজর দেওয়াই আমাদের কর্তব্য।”

Speaking at a public meeting in Jhargram today, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that in Gujarat, Dalits were beaten up for attending a dandiya function. However, such incidents of violence against Dalits are unheard of in Bengal

“Here we protect the minorities, the Dalits and the downtrodden. We respect all religions. Everyone lives in harmony,” the CM said.

She also highlighted the various welfare measures for Adivasis taken by the Bengal Government in the last six years. She said, “We are giving pattas to the Adivasi brothers and sisters. We give pension to Adivasis. We started a social security scheme for kendu leaf collectors. This is unprecedented in India.”

She also warned that a certain political party is playing divisive politics, driving a wedge between people.

“They are trying to create a rift between Hindus and Muslims, Sikhs and Christians. Dalits are being persecuted. The land of tribal people has been forcefully taken away in Jharkhand. We have protested against such incidents,” Mamata Banerjee commented.

The CM added, “We celebrate Tusu Utsav and Karam Puja with equal fervour, like other festivals. Now you can take the West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) examination in Santhali language.”

“Textbooks in Ol Chiki script are available till class X. From now, we will allow Ol-Chiki to be the medium of instruction till graduation. In the future, a university would be opened where the medium of instruction will be Ol Chiki,” she said.

আজ ঝাড়গ্রামে একটি জনসভায় বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, গুজরাত, ইউ পি, ঝাড়খণ্ডে দলিতরা আক্রান্ত, কিন্তু বাংলায় এসব হয় না।

তিনি বলেন, “বাংলায় আদিবাসী দলিত ও সংখ্যালঘু সাধারণ মানুষদের আমরা বুকে আগলে রাখি, এখানে কোন ভেদাভেদ নেই।”

গত ছয় বছরে রাজ্য সরকার আদিবাসী উন্নয়নের জন্য যেসব পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে, সেগুলিও তুলে ধরেন: “আমরা আদিবাসী ভাই বোনেদের পাট্টা প্রদান করছি। কেন্দু পাতা সংগ্রহকারীরা ৬০ বছর বয়স হলে পেনশন পায়। আদিবাসীদের আমরা পেনশন দিই যা আর কোন রাজ্যে দেওয়া হয় না।”

মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় মানুষকে সতর্ক করেন যে একটি রাজনৈতিক দল মানুষে মানুষে ভেদাভেদ সৃষ্টি করার রাজনীতি করছে। তিনি মন্তব্য করেন, “ওরা হিন্দু-মুসলমান আলাদা করছে, শিখ-খ্রিষ্টান আলাদা করছে। আদিবাসীদের জমি কেড়ে নিচ্ছে ঝাড়খণ্ডে। আমরা এইসব ঘটনার নিন্দা করি।”

তিনি আরও বলেন, “আমরা টুসু, ভাদু, করম সব উৎসবই পালন করি। সাঁওতালি ভাষায় পড়ানো হচ্ছে, অল চিকি ভাষা স্কুলে পড়ানো হয়। অল চিকি ভাষায় সিভিল সার্ভিস পরীক্ষাও দেওয়া যায়। দশম শ্রেণী পর্যন্ত সমস্ত পাঠ্যপুস্তক অল চিকি ভাষায় পাওয়া যায়। এখন থেকে স্নাতক স্তর পর্যন্ত অল চিকি ভাষায় পড়ানো হবে।”

Today, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended a Bijoya Sammilani function organised by the police at Jhargram.

Greeting people on the occasion, she expressed happiness that people of Bengal set an example of communal harmony during the festive season.

Excerpts of her speech:

Congratulations to everyone for ensuring a peaceful Durga Puja. This year, Muharram and Durga Puja happened at the same time, just like in 1982. For the last four to five years, the people of Bengal have been celebrating Durga Puja and Muharram at the same time. This year, the celebrations were totally incident-free, for which I congratulate the people of Bengal.

We all follow some religion or the other, but we all celebrate festivals together. A celebration is transformed into a festival only when everyone comes together.

A lot of conspiracies were hatched, but to the credit of you all, no untoward incident happened during the happy festival. I convey my ‘pranam’ and my ‘salam’ to everyone. Remember, it is because of you all standing together that Bengal is as united as it is today.

We have been holding the Durga Puja Carnival for the last two years. Nobody can do it the way Bengal does it. From next year, the day before or after the carnival in Kolkata, similar carnivals would be held in all the districts. As a result, all Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman award winners, be they from Kolkata or from anywhere in Bengal, would be able to participate in a grand carnival en route to their immersions.

I say it with conviction that the way Durga Puja and Muharram are held together, Ganapati Puja and Muharram can never be. What Bengal can do none can. In Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, immersions were on put hold on the day of Muharram, but nobody said anything. Here, even a case was filed. We abided by the court’s decision. But the biggest judgement was delivered by the people.

It is because of the people’s patience and deep creativity that you have been able to do what you did. We are very happy that the festival of football has started in Kolkata.

It is to Bengal’s credit that FIFA officials are coming here to conduct meetings, where they have said Salt Lake Stadium has the potential to become the world’s best stadium. This is our pride.

The kind of promotion that I have seen in Kolkata, ZI am seeing in Jhargram too. I am feeling very happy, and happiness is meant to be shared with all. This is the season of festivals.

In Jangalmahal, 30,000 boys and girls are getting the opportunity now to play football. One the occasion of the Un-17 World Cup, we are giving away 1.5 lakh footballs. The footballs are branded ‘Joyee’, each of which costs Rs 2,500. These have been made by village girls, and the State Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Department is in charge of the manufacturing. We are giving five footballs each to every school, college and club committee.

The philosophy by which we can all live together happily should be the basis of our religion. The best religion is the one which talks of including all humanity within its ambit. The interpretation of religion is loving and uniting all of humanity. The true religion is about dousing fires, and not setting fire to.

 

 

উৎসবের সময় বাংলার মানুষ কোন চক্রান্তে পা দেয়নিঃ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

 

আজ ঝাড়গ্রামে প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকের পর মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় পুলিশের আয়োজিত বিজয়া সম্মিলনীতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। সেখানে তিনি জনসাধারণকে বিজয়ার শুভেচ্ছা জানান।

তাঁর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশঃ-

আমি সকলকে অভিনন্দন জানাচ্ছি। ধন্যবাদ জানাচ্ছি এই কারণে যে পুজোর দিনগুলো সুন্দর ভাবে, শান্তিপূর্ণ ভাবে আপনারা পালন করেছেন। মহরম ও পুজো একসঙ্গে ছিল। ১৯৮২ সালে একই সাথে মহরম ও পুজো পড়েছিল। গত ৪/৫ বছর ধরে পুজো-মহরম একসাথে বাংলার মানুষ করে এসেছে সারা দেশের সাথে। কিন্তু, মনে রাখবেন, এবার কোনও ঘটনা ঘটেনি, টোটাল ইন্সিডেন্ট ফ্রি। এই পুজো-মহরম বাংলার মানুষ একসাথে পালন করেছে, এর কৃতিত্ব সকল মানুষের।

ধর্ম যার যার, কিন্তু উৎসব সবার। সব মানুষ মিলিত হতে পারলে, তবেই তো উৎসব উৎসারে উৎসারিত হয়।

অনেক চক্রান্ত হয়েছিল, অনেক ষড়যন্ত্র হয়েছিল, আমি কৃতজ্ঞ বাংলার মানুষ এই খেলায় পা দেয়নি, বাংলার মানুষ এই চক্রান্তে পা দেয়নি। আমি প্রতিটা মানুষকে আমার সালাম জানাই, প্রণাম জানাই। মনে রাখবেন, আপনারা আছেন বলেই বাংলার এই শক্তি।

দুর্গাপুজোর কার্নিভাল গত দুবছর ধরে আমরা করছি। এবার থেকে আমরা যেদিন বিশ্ববাংলা কার্নিভাল করব, তার পরের দিন, অথবা তার আগের দিন, জেলাগুলোও একটা করে কার্নিভাল করবে। অর্থাৎ জেলায় যে ঠাকুরগুলো বিশ্ব বাংলা পুরস্কার পাবে তারা একসাথে লাইন দিয়ে বিসর্জন দিতে যাবে।

আমি চ্যালেঞ্জ করে বলি, গণপতি বিসর্জন ও মহরম কেউ একসঙ্গে করে দেখাতে পারবে না। বাংলা যা পারে, অন্য কেউ তা পারে না। বিহারে মহরমের দিন বিসর্জন বন্ধ ছিল, উত্তরপ্রদেশেও ছিল, সেখানে তো কেউ কিছু বলেনি। এখানে কোর্টে কেস পর্যন্ত করা হয়েছে। কোর্টের অর্ডারও আমরা মেনেছি। কিন্তু মানুষ যেটা মানে সেটাই সবচেয়ে বড় বিচার।

মানুষ ধৈর্য, সহনশীলতা, সৃজনশীলতা দেখিয়েছে; তাই আজ আপনারা এটা করতে পেরেছেন যা আর কেউ করতে পারবে না।

সকলকে ভালো রাখার ও ভালোবাসার নামই ধর্ম। যে ধর্ম মানবিকতার কথা বলে সেটাই সবচেয়ে বড় ধর্ম। একতাই সম্প্রীতি, ধর্ম আমাদের এটাই শেখায়। ধর্মের অপর নাম মানুষকে ভালোবাসা, মানুষকে এক করে রাখা, ধর্ম মানে আগুন লাগানো নয়, আগুন নিভিয়ে দেওয়া।

কলকাতায় ফুটবল উৎসব শুরু হয়েছে, আমরা খুব খুশি। আজ ফিফার লোকেরা বাংলায় এসে বৈঠক করছে, এটা বাংলার কৃতিত্ব। তারা বলেছে কলকাতার সল্টলেক স্টেডিয়াম বিশ্বের এক নম্বর স্টেডিয়ামে পরিণত হতে পারে। এটা আমাদের গর্ব।

কলকাতায় যে প্রচার দেখেছি ঝাড়গ্রামে এসেও আমি একই প্রচার দেখছি। আমার খুব ভালো লাগছে; আনন্দ ভাগ করে নিতে হয়।

জঙ্গলমহলের ৩০ হাজার ছেলেমেয়ে এখন ফুটবল খেলায় অংশগ্রহণ করে। এবার বিশ্ব ফুটবল উৎসব উপলক্ষে আমরা প্রায় দেড় লক্ষ ফুটবল দেওয়ার ব্যবস্থা করেছি। ফুটবলটির নাম ‘জয়ী’, যার মূল্য আড়াই হাজার টাকা। এগুলি তৈরি করছে গ্রামের মেয়েরা, দায়িত্বে আছে পুনর্বাসন দপ্তর। প্রতিটি স্কুল, কলেজ, ক্লাব কমিটিকে আমরা ৫ টি করে বল দিয়েছি।
