Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee addressed a mass rally at Silda in Paschim Medinipur district today. Speaking to the huge gathering people who came from far interior areas of Jangalmahal, she reiterated the developmental work her government undertook in the district to improve the lives of the people and also restored peace in the areas which were troubled by extremism earlier.

 

She sent a stern message to her political opponents, namely the Left, Congress and the BJP and challenged them to fight her politically and not by slandering her party. She also called the alliance between the Left and Congress ‘unholy’ and that urged the people of Bengal to reject such alliances which is void of any ideology. Here are some excerpts from her speech:

 

  • Silda once made headlines for the massacre of Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR) jawans. In 2010-11, over 400 people were killed due to violence in Jangalmahal. Peace prevails in Jangalmahal now. The region is turning around. People are happy. I have visited Jangalmahal several times in the last four-and-a-half years. I am here to serve people.

 

  • In 1993, I had conducted a mass-contact programme which started from Belpahari. We have not forgotten that people ate eggs of ants in Amlashole in the past. We have come a long way since then. We have done a lot of work for the development of Jangalmahal. Ninety-three per cent of the people in Paschim Medinipur have received direct services from government. We have built roads, bridges, schools, colleges, industrial training institutes (ITIs) and polytechnics. We have set up a new hospital in Belpahari and a Mother & Child Care Hub in Jhargram. We have made healthcare free at all government hospitals. We believe in ‘Health for All’.

 

  • Almost eight crore people in the State, incl;uding those in the Jangalmahal region, are receiving rice at Rs 2 per kg. Today peace prevails in Silda, which was infamous for bloody violence once upon a time. Those who have ignored you all for 34 years are now making grand speeches on TV; there is no cure for jealousy. Some people are jealous of the surge of development. We have launched the Jal Sathi Scheme for the drier regions of Jangalmahal. Twenty-five lakh students have received bicycles under the Sabuj Sathi Scheme. Fifteen lakh more bicycles will be distributed soon. Thirty-three lakh girls have received the benefits of the Kanyashree Scheme. We have increased the minimum support price (MSP) of kendu leaves. We have started a social security scheme for kendu leaf collectors. The youth of Jangalmahal are getting jobs; they are active in various sports. Folk art is flourishing.

 

  • ‘Maa bonera bendhe jot/ Unnayoner jonyo, shantir jonyo/ Joraphool-e shob vote.’ I request my Adivasi brothers and sisters to cast their vote on the ‘joraphool’ symbol. Your vote will defeat the CPI(M)-Congress nexus. The CPI(M) and the Congress have given up on their ideological beliefs to form an alliance. I challenge my detractors to fight me politically and ideologically. We must take a pledge to ensure that the days of violence under the rule of the CPI(M) do not return. Jangalmahal will show the way. Trinamool will come to power in Bengal. Cast your votes freely, without any fear. Vote for the prosperity of Jangalmahal; vote for ‘joraphool’. We want peace and development to continue; we want the people of Bengal to remain happy.

 

জঙ্গলমহলে শান্তি রক্ষা করতে বিরোধী জোটকে হারিয়ে দিন: শিলদায় মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

আজ পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের শিলদা, কুলটিকড়ি ও নয়াগ্রামে তিনটি জনসভা করেন তৃণমূল নেত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। আজ জঙ্গলমহলে মমতাদির প্রচারের দ্বিতীয় দিন ছিল।

জঙ্গলমহলের প্রথম দিনের প্রচারে তিনি দুটি জনসভা করেন, প্রথমটি লালগড়ে এবং দ্বিতীয়টি গোয়ালতোড়ে। এরপর তিনি মেদিনীপুর শহরে একটি পদযাত্রাও করেন।

তিনি আজ তাঁর বক্তব্যে বলেন, গত চার বছরে জঙ্গলমহলে রাজনৈতিক প্রতিহিংসা কমে গেছে। তিনি আরও বলেন,  জঙ্গলমহলে এখন শান্তি ফিরে এসেছে। কিষাণ মাণ্ডি, আইটিআই, পলিটেকনিক, ব্রিজ, রাস্তা থেকে শুরু করে নতুন স্কুল-কলেজ সবই তৈরি হয়েছে জঙ্গলমহলে। জঙ্গলমহল এখন হাসছে।

কেন্দু পাতা সংগ্রহকারীদের জন্য সামাজিক সুরক্ষা প্রকল্পগুলিও তুলে ধরেন তিনি। এছাড়াও আদিবাসী ভাই ও বোনেদের জন্য নানা উন্নয়নমূলক কাজের খতিয়ান ও দেন তিনি।

আগামী ৪ঠা এপ্রিল জঙ্গলমহলে প্রথম পর্যায়ের ভোট।

Mamata Banerjee began her campaign in Jangalmahal today with two rallies in Lalgarh and Goaltore in Paschim Medinipur district, followed by a padayatra through the town of Medinipur.

Since 2011, Mamata Banerjee has visited Jangalmahal more than 30 times, including to places like Bandwan, Baghmundi, Belpahari and the erstwhile hunger-stricken Amlashole, once the hotbed of left-wing extremism.

In her speech, the Trinamool Chairperson highlighted how the incidents of political violence have reduced in the last four and a half years. She said that Jangalmahal was smiling now, thanks to the numerous Kisan Mandis, ITIs, polytechnics, bridges, roads, new schools and colleges.

She also spoke at length about the benefits extended to the Adivasi brothers and sisters and unveiled a copy of the party’s Manifesto in Ol Chiki script. She highlighted the Khadya Sathi scheme under which Adivasis are getting rice at Rs 2 per kg.

The Chairperson requested the people of Jangalmahal to defeat CPI(M), Congress and BJP and bring Trinamool back to power to continue the surge of development in Jangalmahal.

 

জঙ্গলমহলে প্রচার শুরু মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের

দলীয় প্রার্থীদের সমর্থনে আজ জঙ্গলমহলে প্রচার শুরু করলেন তৃণমূল নেত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। আজ পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর জেলায় লালগড় ও শালবনিতে সভা করেন তিনি। এরপর মেদিনীপুর শহরে একটি পদযাত্রাও করেন তৃণমূল নেত্রী।

২০১১ সাল থেকে প্রায় ৩০ বারেরও বেশি জঙ্গলমহলে এসেছেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বান্দোয়ান, বাঘমুণ্ডি, বেলপাহাড়ি এবং এক সময়ের ক্ষুধাপীড়িত এলাকা আমলাশোল, যেখানে বাম আমলে মাওবাদী নাশকতার প্রকোপ ছিল, সহ বহু জায়গায় তিনি বারবার এসেছেন এবং সমস্যার সমাধান করেছেন।

নিজের বক্তব্যে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় জঙ্গলমহলের শান্তির পরিবেশের কথা তুলে ধরেন। তিনি বলেন যে গত সাড়ে চার বছরে জঙ্গলমহলে কোনও হিংসার ঘটনা ঘটেনি, এখানকার মানুষ এখন হাসছে। কিষান বাজার থেকে শুরু করে, আইটিআই, কলেজ, স্কুল, ব্রিজ ও রাস্তাঘাটের প্রসঙ্গ তুলে এই এলাকায় তিনি উন্নয়নের সামগ্রিক চিত্রটি তুলে ধরেন।

আদিবাসী ভাই ও বোনেদের জন্য তৃণমূল সরকারের আমলে নেওয়া সিদ্ধান্তগুলিও আবার স্মরণ করিয়ে দেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। অল চিকি হরফে লেখা দলের ইস্তাহার প্রকাশ করে তিনি বলেন আদিবাসীদের উন্নয়ন ওনার লক্ষ্য। তৃণমূলনেত্রী খাদ্য সাথী প্রকল্পের কথাও উল্লেখ করেন।

তৃণমূলনেত্রী জঙ্গলমহলের বাসিন্দাদের কাছে আবেদন করেন তৃণমূলকে বিপুল ভোটে জয়যুক্ত করতে যাতে রাজ্যের উন্নয়নের ধারা অব্যাহত থাকে।

 

Unprecedented development in Paschim Medinipur

Along with the rest of West Bengal, the district of West Midnapore has also seen unprecedented development under the Trinamool Congress Government.

About 93% of the people in the district can now access State Government schemes.

Here are some highlights of the development in the distrcit:

Administration

  • To enable smoother administration, Jhargram soon to be made a new district
  • Jhargram is already a separate police district

 

Health & Family Welfare

  • For the last almost three years, Jhargram is a separate health district, enabling better servicing.
  • Multi super-speciality hospitals: Four completed – Nayagram, Jhargram, Ghatal, Gopiballavpur; two in Salbani and Debra to be completed by March
  • Fair price medicine stores (FPMSs) set up in Medinipur, Jhargram, Kharagpur and Ghatal Hospitals, as a result of whichmore than 8 lakh people have got a total discount of Rs 13.2 lakh
  • Fair price diagnostic centres (FPDCs) set up in Medinipur, Jhargram and Kharagpur hospitals
  • Mother & Child Care Hub to soon come up in Medinipur Medical College and Hospital
  • 10 mobile medical units (MMUs) in the Jangalmahal region

 

Education

  • Colleges: Nine colleges started – in Lalgarh, Nayagram, Salboni, Keshiari, Gopiballavpur-2, Dantan-2, Kharagpur-2, Mohonapur and Jhargram blocks (women’s wing in Jhargram Raj College)
  • Industrial training institutes (ITIs) built in Ghatal, Salbani, Debra, Garbeta-1, Keshpur, Binpur-2, Nayagram
  • ITIs being built in Binpur-1, Pingla and Daspur-2 blocks, with the work in the latter two to be completed by May
  • Polytechnic college built in Ramgarh. Two more being built in Medinipur and Ghatal.

 

Land reforms, Agriculture

  • Under Nijo Griha Nijo Bhumi (NJNB) Scheme, almost 18,000 landless families have been given patta of 556 acres.
  • More than 12,000 forest patta have been given
  • Kisan Credit Cards given to 7 lakh farmer families
  • Eleven Kisan Mandis built

 

Minority Welfare

  • Scholarships worth Rs 38 crore given to 2.68 lakh students of students from minority communities
  • Loans worth Rs 10 crore to youth from minority communities to make them self-sufficient

 

Backward Classes Development

  • Scholarships under Shikshasree Scheme to more than 1 lakh students
  • Houses constructed for the Lodha community, numbering 1060

 

Kanyashree

  • Kanyashree scholarships given to 2.5 lakh girl students

 

Khadya Suraksha and Khadya Sathi

  • 45 lakh people getting foodgrains at Rs 2 per kg

 

Social security

  • Jangalmahal Action Plan (JAP) started by the Trinamool Congress Government after the Centre folded up the Integrated Action Plan (IAP) for LWE-affected areas
  • Under JAP, during FY 2015-16, 275 projects taken up, to cost Rs 20 crore
  • Under IAP, the West Bengal Government ensured completion of 89% of the projects, spending 92% of the funds

 

Industry

  • Vidyasagar Industrial Park and Godapiyasal Industrial set up in Kharagpur
  • JSW has set up a big cement plant
  • Under Natural Fibre Mission, 2,620 loom workers given skill development courses and many provided equipment as well

 

PWD and Transport

  • The PWD Department has completed 200 projects for roads, bridges, etc.

 

Power

  • Under Sabar Ghare Alo Scheme, all villages have been electrified

 

Irrigation

  • Under Jal Tirtha Scheme, 21 check dams (to control flooding) built
  • A major project, the 750-metre long Amkola Bridge over Kangsabati River, has been implemented by the Irrigation Department

 

Tourism

  • Circuit tourism project completed in Jhargram, at Rs 3.76 crore; included are Jhargram Living Art Museum, renovation of Chilkigarh Kanak Durga Temple and eco-tourism centres in Hatibari, Kankrajhor and Ketkijhora.

 

Self-Help Groups (SHG)

  • Under Anandadhara Scheme, 6,000 SHGs formed
  • Karma Tirtha: 2 set up, 9 more being set up

 

Housing

  • Under Gitanjali Scheme for housing for the homeless, 7,000 houses constructed, and 7,000 more to be built by May

 

Sports and Youth Affairs

  • Stadium in Salbani, Jhargram Sports Academy, Kharagpur

 

Biotechnology

  • Cultivation of lac trees and other cash crops for scheduled tribes
  • A Bioinformatics Centre has been set up in the district.

Under Trinamool Congress, the district of Paschim Medinipur, in fact, the whole of Jnagalmahal has benefitted immensely. The whole district is growing rapidly.

 

পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের অভূতপূর্ব উন্নয়ন

সমগ্র রাজ্যের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর জেলায় তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস সরকারের অধীনে উন্নয়নের জোয়ার এসেছে। এই জেলার প্রায় ৯৩ শতাংশ মানুষের কাছে সরকারি পরিষেবা পৌঁছে গেছে।

এখানে উন্নয়নের কিছু খতিয়ান উল্লেখ করা হলঃ  

স্বরাষ্ট্র

  • প্রশাসনিক সুবিধার্থে ঝাড়গ্রামে নতুন জেলা গঠনের সিদ্ধান্ত হয়েছে।
  • ঝাড়গ্রাম ইতিমধ্যেই পৃথক পুলিশ জেলা হিসেবে গড়ে উঠেছে।

 

স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যান

  • ঝাড়গ্রামকে পৃথক স্বাস্থ্য জেলা হিসেবে গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে।
  • ৪টি মাল্টি সুপার স্পেশ্যালিটি হাসপাতাল নির্মাণের কাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়ে গেছে। এগুলি হল –  নয়াগ্রাম, ঝাড়গ্রাম, ঘাটাল ও গোপীবল্লভপুর।
  • মেদিনীপুর, ঝাড়গ্রাম, খড়গপুর ও ঘাটাল হাসপাতালে ন্যায্য মূল্যের ওষুধের দোকান চালু হয়ে গেছে। এইসব দোকান থেকে ওষুধ কেনার ফলে ৮ লক্ষের বেশি মানুষ ১৩ কোটি ২০ লক্ষ টাকা ছাড় পেয়েছেন।
  • মেদিনীপুর, ঝাড়গ্রাম, খড়গপুর হাসপাতালে ন্যায্য মূল্যের ডায়াগনস্টিক কেন্দ্র চালু হয়ে গেছে।
  • ৩টি SNCU এবং ২২টি SNSU ইতিমধ্যেই চালু হয়ে গেছে। এছাড়া ১টি HDU এবং ২টি CCU চালু হয়ে গেছে।
  • জঙ্গলমহল এলাকায় ১০টি ব্লকে ভ্রাম্যমাণ মেডিকেল ইউনিট চালু আছে।

 

শিক্ষা

  • এই জেলায় ৯টি কলেজ চালু হয়ে গেছে। যথা- লালগড়, নয়াগ্রাম, শালবনী, কেশিয়াড়ি, গোপীবল্লভপুর-২, দাঁতন-২, খড়গপুর-২, মোহনপুর ও ঝাড়গ্রাম।
  • ৭ টি আইটিআই নির্মাণের কাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে। আরও ২টি আইটিআই নির্মাণের কাজ চলছে।
  • রামগড়ে নতুন পলিটেকনিক কলেজ চালু হয়েছে এবং পঠন-পাঠনও শুরু হয়েছে।

 

ভূমি সংস্কার ও কৃষি

  • এই জেলায় নিজ গৃহ নিজ ভূমি প্রকল্পে প্রায় ১৮ হাজার ভূমিহীন পরিবারকে ৫৫৬ একর জমির পাট্টা প্রদান করা হয়েছে।
  • বিগত সাড়ে চার বছরে ১২ হাজারেরও বেশি পাট্টা প্রদান করা হয়েছে।
  • এই জেলায় ৭ লক্ষ কৃষককে কিষাণ ক্রেডিট কার্ডের আওতাভুক্ত করা হয়েছে।
  • ১১ টি কিষাণ মাণ্ডি তৈরির কাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়ে গেছে।

 

সংখ্যালঘু উন্নয়ন

  • বিগত সাড়ে চার বছরে ২.৬৮ লক্ষ ছাত্রছাত্রীকে ৩৮ কোটি টাকা বৃত্তি প্রদান করা হয়েছে।
  • এছাড়া স্বনির্ভরতার জন্য সংখ্যালঘু যুবক-যুবতীদের প্রায় ১০ কোটি টাকা ঋণ প্রদান করা হবে।

 

অনগ্রসর কল্যাণ ও আদিবাসী উন্নয়ন

  • ১ লক্ষেরও বেশি ছাত্রছাত্রী শিক্ষাশ্রী প্রকল্পে সহায়তা পাচ্ছে।
  • ১০৬০টি লোধা জনজাতির ঘর নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে।

 

কন্যাশ্রী

এই জেলায় আড়াই লক্ষ ছাত্রছাত্রী কন্যাশ্রীর আওতায় এসেছে।

খাদ্য সুরক্ষা কর্মসূচী – খাদ্য সাথী প্রকল্প

এই জেলায় ৪৫ লক্ষ মানুষ ২ টাকা কেজি দরে খাদ্যশস্য পাচ্ছেন।

 শিল্প

  • খড়গপুরে বিদ্যাসাগর ও গোদাপিয়াশাল ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল পার্ক নির্মিত হয়েছে।
  • জে.এস.ডব্লিউ সিমেন্টের শালবনি প্লান্ট স্থাপনের কাজ শুরু হয়েছে।

 

পূর্ত ও পরিবহন

বিগত সাড়ে চার বছরে এই জেলায় পূর্ত দপ্তর ২০০টি প্রকল্পের কাজ ইতিমধ্যে সমাপ্ত হয়ে গেছে।

বিদ্যুৎ

‘সবার ঘরে আলো’ প্রকল্পে গ্রামীণ বৈদ্যুতিকরনের কাজ সমাপ্ত হয়েছে।

সেচ ব্যবস্থা

  • এই জেলায় জলতীর্থ প্রকল্পে ২১টি চেক ড্যাম রূপায়িত করা হয়েছে।
  • কংসাবতী নদীর ওপর ৭৫০ মিটার দীর্ঘ আমকলা সেতু নির্মিত হয়েছে।

 

পর্যটন

ঝাড়গ্রামে ৩.৭৬ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে ১টি সার্কিট ট্যুরিজম প্রজেক্টের কাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে রয়েছে ঝাড়গ্রাম লিভিং আর্ট মিউজিয়াম, চিল্কিগড় কণকদুর্গা মন্দির সংস্কার, হাতিবাড়ি, কাঁকড়াঝোড়, কেটকীঝোড় ইকো ট্যুরিজম প্রকল্প।

স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠী

  • আনন্দধারা প্রকল্পে ৬ হাজার স্বনির্ভর দল গঠিত হয়েছে।
  • ১১টি কর্ম তীর্থর মধ্যে ২টির নির্মাণ কাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে, আরও ৯টির নির্মাণ কাজ চলছে।

 

আবাসন

গীতাঞ্জলি প্রকল্পে ১৪ হাজার বাসস্থান নির্মিত হচ্ছে এর মধ্যে ৭ হাজার বাসস্থান নির্মাণের কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়ে গেছে।

ক্রীড়া ও যুব কল্যান

শালবনি স্টেডিয়াম ও ঝাড়গ্রাম স্পোর্টস অ্যাকাডেমি নির্মাণের কাজ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে।

বায়োটেকনোলজি

  • তপশিলি উপজাতি মানুষের উন্নয়নের জন্য লাক্ষা চাষ ও অন্যান্য অর্থনৈতিক ফসলের উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধি করা হচ্ছে।
  • এই জেলায় একটি বায়োফার্মাটিক সেন্টার তৈরি হয়েছে।

 

তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস পরিচালিত সরকারের আমলে পুরো পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর জেলা, সমগ্র জঙ্গলমহল জেলার মানুষ উপকৃত হয়েছে। সমগ্র জেলার বিপুল অগ্রগতি হয়েছে।

The colours of Dol Utsav added flavours to the campaign of the Trinamool Congress for the forthcoming Assembly election, almost in every corner of the State.

While Mamata Banerjee greeted the people of the State through social media on this joyous occasion, other Trinamool Congress candidates connected with the local people.

From the Behala East candidate and Kolkata Mayor, Sovan Chatterjee to the Barjora candidate Soham, the Trinamool candidates spread the message of communal harmony. Rashbehari candidate Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, Ballygunge candidate Subrata Mukherjee and Bidhannagar candidate Sabyasachi Dutta spent time rejoicing in the spirit of the festival of colours in their respective constituencies.

দোল উৎসবে জনসংযোগ বাড়ালেন তৃণমূল প্রার্থীরা

আসন্ন বিধানসভা নির্বাচনের জন্য তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের নির্বাচনী প্রচারে দোল উৎসব এক অন্য মাত্রা এনে দিয়েছে। দোল উৎসবের দিনও সারা রাজ্যের প্রতিটি জেলার প্রতিটি প্রান্তে সাধারণ মানুষের সঙ্গে মিলে নির্বাচনী প্রচার করলেন তৃণমূল প্রার্থীরা।

মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় রাজ্যের সকলকে শুভ দোল উৎসবের শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়েছেন। এদিন তৃণমূলের প্রার্থীরাও শহরের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তে সাধারণ মানুষের সঙ্গে এই উৎসবে সামিল হয়েছেন।

রাসবিহারী কেন্দ্রের প্রার্থী শোভনদেব চট্টোপাধ্যায়, বালিগঞ্জের প্রার্থী সুব্রত মুখার্জি, বিধাননগরের প্রার্থী সব্যসাচী দত্ত নিজ নিজ নির্বাচনী এলাকায় প্রচারে গিয়ে এলাকার সাধারণ মানুষদের সঙ্গে সময় কাটিয়েছেন এবং রঙের উৎসবে মেতেছেন।

MB: People are with me. Struggle is a part of my life. Elections are held so that people can judge the government based on performance.

People will decide how many seats we will win. They are the judge in a democracy. I am confident people will vote for ‘joraphool’ because of the work done by us in the last five years.

‘Joraphool’ is in my heart. It represents communal harmony like the poet had described in his work.

I have nothing to lose. I have received a lot of love and affection from people. I know people trust me.

Question: Out of all the work done in the last five years, which are the outstanding ones according to you?

MB: We have given away scholarships to over 1 crore minority students. The budget for minority development has been raised four times. We have worked for people of all communities, castes, religion. We did not see the political colour while disbursing services to people.

The first decision we took after coming to power in 2011 was pass the Singur Bill. But it has been challenged in court. We always fulfill our commitments.

We are suffering because of the debt incurred by the Left. We inherited a huge legacy of debt and paid over Rs 1 lakh crore as installments. Both Manmohan Singh and Narendra Modi had promised to help us before elections but did not take any initiative.

We are seeking the votes of people on the plank of development. The Opposition is only indulging in smear campaign. I can share some statistics.

The growth rate of Bengal (12.2%) is far ahead of India (7.3%). Growth of industrial sector in Bengal is 10.5% while that of India is 7%. Growth in service sector in Bengal is 13% and that of India is 9%. The Economic Survey of Govt of India says the lowest inflation in India is that of Bengal.

Expenditure on physical infrastructure has grown six times in the last four and half years. Revenue collection in Bengal has doubled in four years. Our planned expenditure has tripled. We are No 1 in paddy production. Bengal won Krishi Karman award four years in a row.

Roads have improved in the State. There are new universities and colleges. New ITIs and polytechnics have come up. 33 lakh girls have received scholarships under Kanyashree scheme. 40 lakh students are getting Sabuj Sathi cycles.

People coming from other places are saying Bengal has changed for the better in the last four and half years. Governance is a continuous process.

Roti, kapda and makaan are the basic necessities of life. We have given houses under Geetanjali scheme. We have set up 108 fair price medicine shops and 80 fair price diagnostic centres. Healthcare is free at government hospitals in Bengal. We have set up ‘Madhur Sneho’ breast milk bank and cord blood bank.

A section of the media only deals in negative campaign.

Industry does not only mean heavy industry. Bengal leads in terms of bank loans given to the MSME sector. Four hydel projects are coming up in north Bengal. NTPC is investing in Katwa plant. A new power plant is coming up at Sagardighi. India’s largest coal block Deocha Pachami will create huge employment opportunities. The days of loadshedding are gone. Isn’t this a matter of pride?

We are a humane government. We have ensured job security of contractual and casual government employees. The Centre has stopped funding ICDS, Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan and several other schemes. Yet we are funding these projects.

Global petrol prices had become cheaper than water. But the Centre did not pass on the benefit to common people. Centre has stopped funds for Jangalmahal development. But, we started Jangalmahal Integrated Development Programme.

Mumbai failed to host Ghulam Ali’s concert. India-Pakistan match could not be held anywhere in India. Bengal came to the rescue. Even the U-17 World Cup of Football will be held in Kolkata. This is our pride.

The amount of work we have done in the last four and half years is unmatched in India.

Question: Are you worried about the CPI(M)-Congress alliance?

MB: I am not at all worried about CPI(M)-Congress alliance. It is a nexus. I had walked out of Congress in 1998 because I refused to accept the friendship of CPI(M) & Congress. We used to call them the B-team. Now the secret is out in the open.

CPI(M)-Congress-BJP have an understanding. They are afraid of us. We will play an important role in national politics in future. CPI(M) has forgotten Lenin, Stain, Ho Chi Minh. Congress has forgotten how CPI(M) called Rajiv Gandhi a thief.

People are the most powerful in a democracy. People of Bengal do not tolerate traitors. The alliance of opportunism will be defeated. People will defeat the conspiracies hatched by CPI(M)-BJP-Congress and ABP.

Congress and CPI(M) had an understanding for many years now. Congress has sold its party flag to CPI(M). I am sure communists who believe in their ideology will not vote for Congress. Committed Congress workers will never vote for their arch rival CPI(M). In fact, Congress workers in Tripura and Kerala are very unhappy because of the CPI(M)-Congress alliance.

The BJP won 2014 elections because of the anti-people policies of UPA 2. We walked out of the government because of such policies. In fact, the Congress is partly responsible for the rise of the BJP. BJP is synonymous with riots and politics of hatred and division. We do not support such policies.

I believe in politics of culture and courtesies. I will counter politically but will never indulge in personal attacks.

We have not forgotten Amta, Sainbari, Marichjhanpi, Netai, Anita Dewan, Anandamargi massacre and many such incidents of violence. 50000 people were killed in political violence during CPI(M) rule. How many of them got justice? Even FIRs were not lodged in the past. Now even if our party men are involved in a crime, they are arrested.

Some people are trying to incite violence and riots in Bengal. During 1992 riots, I was on the streets of Kolkata helping people along with Mother Teresa. Family feuds, disputes between neighbours, clashes between clubs are portrayed as crimes committed by TMC.

I will not repeal the Urban Land Ceiling Act. We are principally against SEZs. I will never support forcible acquisition of land. I will not give up my principles. I cannot betray people. We walked out of the central government in 2013 because we are against FDI in retail.

Question: What is your position on Narada sting operation?

MB: If the sting video is not authenticated, why is the media airing it? If you are not sure about its credibility, why are you misguiding people? I have heard that criminal proceedings were initiated against the person who conducted the sting under Official Secrets Act. The person who conducted the sting was arrested by CBI in the past.

There are several questions that need to be answered… Where did the money come from? Why did they wait till Assembly elections in Bengal before releasing the video?

I have been fighting for state-funded elections for several years now. We are against use of black money in elections. “No ID card, no vote” was a movement led by me in the past. Now I am fighting for electoral reforms. I want to put an end to the politics of black money and blackmail.

I challenge the Opposition to provide proof that I have taken money in lieu of providing favours to anyone. I will resign immediately. Chit funds were set up in Bengal during the Left rule. Why should investigations against them start from 2011 onwards? Opposition has crossed all limits of decency.

We are not worried about any videos. It will have no effect on elections.

Who gave the audacity to BJP to say “Bhaag Mamata Bhaag”. We are not scared of such tactics. I believe in discipline. As long as I live, I will work for the people and dedicate myself to their service.

Question: What is your campaign schedule looking like?

MB: I will begin my campaigning in Jangalmahal on 25 March. Then I will campaign in north Bengal.

I cannot make sense why some districts have elections in more than one phase.

States like Tamil Nadu and Kerala have one-phase poll. Assam, which witnesses violence regularly, has two-phase polls.

Question: If you come back to power, what will be your priority?

MB: Bengal has turned around in the last five years. We will help our youth to stand on their feet in future. CPI(M) destroyed the glory of Bengal. The young generation has to restore that glory.

I want to see Bengal transform into Biswa Bangla. Bengal will be the global destination. Artistes are getting their due. There is a tide of development in the State. Heritage of Bengal has been brought back.

Whenever I take any important decision I first think of the people. I cannot betray them. I am in the Chief Minister’s chair because of people. People come first, then Mamata Banerjee and then TMC workers. I have conducted 105 block level administrative meetings in four years. We have started Administrative Calendar. We have launched time bound delivery of services.

Question: How do you keep yourself calm even after such a smear campaign against you?

MB: After we walked out of UPA 2 in 2013, Congress started a smear campaign against us. BJP is following the same tradition. The CPI(M) tried to kill me. They have tried to hurt me. Now they are trying to insult me

I challenge the Opposition to defeat me on the plank of development. Catch me if you can… I have coined the slogan ‘Bishwa Sera Bangla’. I want Bengal to be the best.

The music video of “The Trinamool Song” which portrays the changing face of West Bengal over the last five years, has been played around one lakh times across various digital platforms since it was released Saturday night.

Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee released the video on her Facebook page on Saturday, saying, “I am very happy to share the new music video ‘The Trinamool Song’ for the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections”.

On her Facebook page alone, the video has close to 70000 hits. Other party leaders, like Abhishek Banerjee, have also shared it on their Facebook pages. And it is also on YouTube.

Directed by Anindya Chatterjee, lead vocalist of Bangla band Chandrabindoo, the video highlights the work done by the Mamata Banerjee government after being voted to power in 2011. It has also been released on TV channels and FM radio.

 

বিধানসভা নির্বাচনের প্রচারে তৃণমূলের নতুন মিউজিক ভিডিও

২০১৬-র বিধানসভা নির্বাচনের জন্য তৈরী তৃণমূলের মিউজিক ভিডিওটি ইতিমধ্যেই সোশ্যাল মিডিয়াতে আলোড়ন সৃষ্টি করেছে। এক লাখেরও বেশি ‘ভিউস’ পেয়ে ভিডিওটি এখন ‘ভাইরাল’।

মিউজিক ভিডিওটি শনিবার  তৃণমূলনেত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় তার ফেসবুক পেজে ‘শেয়ার’ করেন। তিনি লেখেন, “আসন্ন পশ্চিমবঙ্গ বিধানসভা নির্বাচন উপলক্ষে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের নতুন মিউজিক ভিডিওটি আপনাদের সাথে শেয়ার করলাম। আশা করি আপনাদের ভাল লাগবে।”

মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের ফেসবুক পেজে ইতিমধ্যেই ভিডিওটি দেখেছেন ৭০০০০-এরও বেশি মানুষ। এছাড়াও তৃণমূলের অন্যান্য নেতৃবৃন্দ – যেমন অভিষেক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় – এই ভিডিওটি তাদের পেজে ‘শেয়ার’ করেছেন। ভিডিওটি তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের ইউটিউব পেজেও রয়েছে।

ভিডিওটির পরিচালনা করেছেন চন্দ্রবিন্দু ব্যান্ডের প্রধান গায়ক অনিন্দ্য চট্টোপাধ্যায়। দুমিনিটের এই ভিডিওটি গত পাঁচ বছরে রাজ্যে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বে যে উন্নয়নের জোয়ার এসছে তা তুলে ধরেছে।

Rural Bengal has progressed tremendously under the Trinamool Congress Government over the past five years. Panchayats are the agents through which the government’s development programmes for the rural populace are implemented.

One  programme in which the State has performed very well and has received glowing commendations is Mission Nirmal Bangla.

Mission Nirmal Bangla

Mission Nirmal Bangla has been a revolutionary scheme of the West Bengal Government, aimed at making the State open defecation free (ODF), and it has had a great success. In 2014-15 alone, the State’s Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) count was 8.47 lakh, the highest in the country.

Among the top four districts in the country, in terms of making them ODF (counted on the basis of the construction of individual toilets), Nadia is at number one position and is immediately followed by Hooghly and Bardhaman.

In record time, Nadia district has reached out to all the households and constructed more than 3.47 lakh toilets to ensure that everyone in the district has got access to sanitation.

The project has achieved for West Bengal milestones which are the pride not only of India but internationally too. The Trinamool Congress Government has made the State really proud.

 

‘নির্মল বাংলা’: ভারতবর্ষের এক অনন্য মডেল

গত পাঁচ বছরে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের আমলে গ্রামবাংলার মানুষ উন্নয়নের এক নতুন আস্বাদ পেয়েছে। পঞ্চায়েতের মাধ্যমে সরকার তাদের এই উন্নয়ন কর্মসূচী বাস্তবায়িত করেছে।

মিশন নির্মল বাংলা কর্মসূচীতে রাজ্য খুব ভালো কাজ করেছে এবং  আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরেও যথেষ্ট প্রশংসা পেয়েছে।

‘মিশন নির্মল বাংলা’ পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের একটি বৈপ্লবিক প্রকল্প যার লক্ষ্য রাজ্যকে ওপেন ডেফিকেশন ফ্রি করা এবং রাজ্য সরকার এক্ষেত্রে অভূতপূর্ব সাফল্য পেয়েছে।

২০১৪-১৫ আর্থিক বর্ষে ‘নির্মল বাংলা’ স্বাস্থ্যবিধান কর্মসূচীতে ভারত সরকারের কাছ থেকে ‘দেশ সেরার’ শিরোপা জিতেছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ। এই কর্মসূচীতে প্রায় ৮.৪৭ লক্ষ শৌচালয় নির্মাণ হয়েছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গে, যা দেশের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ।

সারা দেশের পারিবারিক শৌচাগার নির্মাণের ক্ষেত্রে অগ্রগণ্য প্রথম চারটি জেলার মধ্যে তিনটি হল নদিয়া, উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা ও হুগলি ও বর্ধমান।

নদিয়া দেশের মধ্যে প্রথম উন্মুক্ত শৌচবিহীন জেলা হিসেবে পুরস্কার অর্জন করেছে। ৩.৪৭ লক্ষেরও বেশি শৌচালয় নির্মাণ হয়েছে এই জেলায়।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের এই প্রকল্প শুধুমাত্র ভারতে নয় আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরেও খ্যাতি অর্জন করেছে। তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস রাজ্যকে গর্বিত করেছে।

20 March turned out to be an important day of Trinamool’s campaign as Mamata Banerjee held a padyatra in Howrah while Trinamool Youth Congress President Abhishek Banerjee addressed two mass rallies at West Midnapore district.

The first rally was held at Parihati in Jamboni while the venue for the second rally was Nayagram.

The firebrand leader said that Mamata Banerjee was the only leader whose lifestyle did not change even after becoming the Chief Minister. She still follows her simple lifestyle despite being the leader of 10 crore people residing in Bengal, he said.

He lashed out at the Opposition and accused them of trying to tarnish the image of Mamata Banerjee. He said that this was actually an insult to the common people.

Abhishek said that the opportunistic alliance of the Opposition must be defeated. He called upon the audience, who had turned up in large numbers, to extend their support to Didi in the upcoming elections.

২০শে মার্চ ছিল তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের প্রচারের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দিন। এদিন তৃণমূল নেত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় হাওড়ায় একটি পদযাত্রা করেন এবং একইদিনে পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর জেলার জঙ্গলমহলে প্রচারসভা করেন তৃণমূল যুব কংগ্রেসের সভাপতি অভিষেক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

এদিন পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুরের জঙ্গলমহলে দু’টি সভা করেন অভিষেক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। প্রথম সভাটি করেন বিনপুর বিধানসভার অন্তর্গত জামবনি ব্লকের পাড়িহাটিতে। দ্বিতীয় সভাটি করেছেন নয়াগ্রামে।

এদিন তিনি বলেন, “দেশের মধ্যে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ই একমাত্র নেত্রী যিনি মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হওয়ার পরও তাঁর জীবনযাত্রার কোনরকম পরিবর্তন ঘটেনি। বাংলার দশ কোটি মানুষের নেত্রী হওয়া সত্ত্বেও এখনও তিনি তাঁর সহজ-সরল জীবনযাত্রা অনুসরণ করে চলেছেন”।

তিনি বিরোধীদের কঠিন সমালোচনা করে বলেন তাদের লক্ষ্য কুৎসা ও অপপ্রচার করে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের ভাবমূর্তি ক্ষুন্ন করা। তিনি বলেন এগুলো আসলে সাধারণ মানুষকে অপমান করা।

এদিন অভিষেক বলেন, “বিরোধীদের সুবিধাবাদী জোট অবশ্যই পরাজিত হবে”। এই সরকারের সাফল্যের সব থেকে বড় নজির ‘জঙ্গলমহলের হাসি’। তিনি সকলকে আহবান জানান, আসন্ন নির্বাচনে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসকে সহযোগিতা করার জন্য।

New strides in urban development

The urban development department of the Trinamool-led West Bengal Government has achieved new milestones over the last four years.

From beautification of cities to conceptualising of new ‘theme cities’, better citizen services to increased infrastructure, the department has made great strides.

Here are some achievements of the urban development department:

  • Operationalisation of Parama Island – Park Circus Flyover named ‘Ma’.
  • Operationalisation of Jai Hind (Dhapa) and Garden Reach Water Supply Schemes.
  • Formulation of Township Policy based on the West Bengal Town & Country (Planning & development) Act 1979 and West Bengal Town & Country Planning (Development of Township Projects) Rules, 2008.
  • Creation of Gangasagar Bakkhali Development Authority (in 2013), Furfura Sharif Development Authority (in 2015) & Tarapith Rampurhat Development Authority (in 2015).
  • Amendment of the West Bengal Town and Country (Planning and Development ) Act, 1979 for formation of Eco – Tourism Board.
  • Construction of house for urban poor under BSUP (Basic Services to the Urban Poor) has increased from 47,956 during 2007-2011 to 55,589 during 2011-2015.
  • Commissioning of new Water Supply Scheme has increased from 62 during 2007-2011 to 73 during 2011-2015.
  • Amount of Plan Expenditure out of State Budget has increased from Rs 3209.65 crore during 2007-2011 to Rs 5473.57 crore during 2011-2015.
  • Construction of Gitanjali Stadium , up-gradation and renovation of Nazrul Mancha.
  • Construction of Eco Tourism Park – Prakriti Tirtha at NewTown, Mandela Park at Burdwan, Eco Park at Dumurjala Lake area.
  • Construction of Rabindra Tirtha, Nazrul Tirtha, Mothers Wax Museum, Kolkata International Convention Centre (under construction) at Newtown Kolkata Planning area.
  • Beautification work of Elevated walkways at Milleneum park, Baishnabghata-Patuli Water Bodies – Benubanochaya, Howrah River Front, Rejuvenation /Development of Rabindra Sarobar Phase-I.

 

নগরোন্নয়নে নতুন দিশা দেখালো তৃণমূল 

গত চার বছরে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস পরিচালিত সরকারের আমলে নগর উন্নয়ন ব্যবস্থার প্রভূত উন্নতি হয়েছে।

রাস্তার সৌন্দর্যায়ন থেকে, নতুন থিম সিটি, জনপরিষেবা থেকে শুরু করে নতুন পরিকাঠামো সব কিছুতেই এই দপ্তর অনেক এগিয়ে।

পুর ও নগরোন্নয়ন দপ্তরের কিছু কৃতিত্ব:

  • কলকাতায় ই এম বাইপাস সংলগ্ন এলাকা থেকে পার্ক সার্কাস পর্যন্ত  নতুন ‘মা’ উড়ালপুল তৈরি হয়েছে।
  • ধাপা সংলগ্ন এলাকায় জয়হিন্দ প্রকল্প, গার্ডেনরিচ জল প্রকল্প চালু হয়েছে।
  • রাজ্য সরকার নতুন টাউনশিপ নীতি প্রণয়ন হয়েছে।
  • ২০১৩ সালে গঙ্গাসাগর-বকখালি উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ, ২০১৫ সালে ফুরফুরাশরিফ উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ ও তারাপীঠ উন্নয়ন পর্ষদ তৈরি করা হয়েছে।
  • ইকো ট্যুরিজম বোর্ড গঠন করার জন্য ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল টাউন এবং কান্ট্রি অ্যাক্ট ১৯৭৯ সংশোধন করা হয়েছে।
  • ২০০৭-১১ সালে শহরের গরীব মানুষদের জন্য ৪৭,৯৫৬ টি গৃহ নির্মাণ হয়েছিল, সেই সংখ্যাটি ২০১১-১৫ সালে বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৫৫,৫৮৯।
  • ২০০৭-২০১১ সালে নতুন জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্পের সংখ্যা ছিল ৬২, ২০১১-১৫ সালে এর সংখ্যা বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৭৩।
  • ২০০৭-২০১১ সালে পরিকল্পিত ব্যয় ছিল ৩২০৯.৬৫ কোটি এবং ২০১১-১৫ সালে এর পরিমাণ ৫৪৭৩.৫৭ কোটি টাকা।
  • গীতাঞ্জলি স্টেডিয়াম তৈরি হয়েছে। নজরুল মঞ্চ পুনর্নির্মাণ ও সংস্কার করা হয়েছে।
  • রাজারহাটে ইকো ট্যুরিজম পার্ক তৈরি হয়েছে। এছাড়া নিউটাউনে প্রকৃতি তীর্থ, বর্ধমানে ম্যাণ্ডেলা পার্ক, ডুমুরজলা লেক এলাকায় ইকো পার্ক তৈরি হয়েছে।
  • রবীন্দ্র তীর্থ, নজরুল তীর্থ, মাদারস ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়াম, আন্তর্জাতিক কনভেনশন সেন্টার তৈরি হয়েছে নিউটাউন এলাকায়।
  • মিলেনিয়াম পার্ক, বৈষ্ণবঘাটা-পাটুলি তে বেনুবনছায়া, হাওড়ায় গঙ্গাপাড়ের সৌন্দর্যায়ন থেকে রবীন্দ্র সরোবর লেকের উন্নয়ন ও সংস্করণ সব কিছুই করা হয়েছে তৃণমূল সরকারের আমলে।

Mamata Banerjee participated in a padyatra in south Kolkata’s Bhawanipore Assembly constituency today. The padyatra, which started from Ballygunge Phari at 4 PM, criss-crossed through Lansdowne, Bhawanipore before terminating at Hazra.

Thousands of people walked with the firebrand leader, along with senior party leaders. Common people also waited eagerly along the route to catch a glimpse of the Trinamool Chairperson.

Over the last few days, she has led six such processions across the State, and the people have responded enthusiastically to them.

So far the Chairperson has addressed 11 workers’ meetings in north and south Bengal. She will campaign in Jangalmahal after Holi festivities.

 

আজ ভবানীপুরে পদযাত্রা মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের

আজ দক্ষিণ কলকাতার ভবানীপুর কেন্দ্রে একটি পদযাত্রা করেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বালিগঞ্জ ফাঁড়ি থেকে বিকেল ৪টায় শুরু হয়ে, ল্যান্সডাউন এবং ভবানীপুর হয়ে পদযাত্রাটি শেষ হয় হাজরাতে।

দলনেত্রীর সাথে আজ মিছিলে হেঁটেছেন দলের বহু নেতা এবং সাধারণ কর্মীবৃন্দ। পা মিলিয়েছেন সাধারণ মানুষও। মোড়ে মোড়ে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়কে এক ঝলক দেখার জন্য ছিল উপচে পরা ভিড়।

গত কয়েকদিন ধরে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বেশ কয়েকটি মিছিল ও পদযাত্রা করেছেন এবং প্রত্যেকটিতে জনগণের স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত সমর্থন পেয়েছেন তিনি।

গত ১৩ই মার্চ থেকে নির্বাচনী প্রচার শুরু করেছে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস। ইতিমধ্যে উত্তরবঙ্গেও তিনি কয়েকটি পদযাত্রা করেছেন। হাজার হাজার মানুষ যোগদান করেছে এইসব মিছিলে।

ইতিমধ্যেই  ১১টি প্রচার সভা করেছেন তৃণমূল নেত্রী। হোলির পর তিনি জঙ্গলমহলে প্রচারে যাবেন।
