On Tuesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated a number of Kali Puja pandals. Speaking on the occasion, she once again communal politics of the BJP.

She said that the BJP is doing communal politics and is trying to divide people on the basis of religion, something which the people of Bengal won’t tolerate. The BJP is doing this because it does not have any acceptance here.

She said she has nothing but hate for those who use others’ religious beliefs to hold on to their existence. It is a personal matter as to who wants to follow which religion; nobody can force a belief on another person. It is the duty of those in power to unite people, not divide them.

Many people intentionally keep beef inside temples and then spread the rumour that someone has done it hurt religious beliefs. One of them was caught red-handed and had admitted that he was a BJP member. Therefore the Chief Minister asked everyone not to fall into the trap of communal misinformation.

She said that the colour of the blood of both Hindus and Muslims was the same – red. In Bengal, people of different religious denominations and beliefs stay in unity. Hence, she appealed to everyone to stay together in peace.

মঙ্গলবার শহরে একাধিক কালীপুজোর উদ্বোধন করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সেখান থেকে আরও একবার কেন্দ্রের বিজেপি সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে তোপ দাগেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

ধর্মের নামে ভেদাভেদের রাজনীতি করছে বিজেপি যা বাংলায় বরদাস্ত করা হবে না। বিজেপির কোন গ্রহণযোগ্যতা নেই তাই ওরা গুরুত্ব পেতে ভাগাভাগির রাজনীতি করছে। তাঁর কথায়, “যারা নিজেদের অস্তিত্ব বজায় রাখতে ধর্মকে বিক্রি করে তাদের আমি ঘৃণা করি। কে কোন ধর্ম পালন করবে সেটা তাঁর ব্যক্তিগত বিষয়। কেউ চাইলেই কিছু চাপিয়ে দিতে পারে না। চেয়ারে যারা থাকে মানুষের মধ্যে ভেদাভেদ তাদের মানায় না, সকলকে একজোট করে রাখতে হবে”।

“অনেকে মন্দিরে গরুর মাংস ফেলে যায়। আবার নিজেরাই তার প্রচার করে অশান্তি ছড়ায়। একজন হাতে নাতে ধরা পড়েছিল এবং সে যে বিজেপির সদস্য তাও স্বীকার করেছিল।” তাই মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সতর্কবার্তা কোনও প্ররোচনায় পা দেবেন না।

তাঁর কথায়, “হিন্দু মুসলমান সকলের রক্তই এক। বাংলায় বিভিন্ন ধর্মের, বিভিন্ন বর্ণের মানুষ বাস করে”। তাই সবাইকে নিয়ে একসাথে চলার আবেদন করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

The State Government and the Kolkata Police have offered their best wishes to the people of the state for a peaceful, incident-free Kali Puja.

The police have appealed to the organisers to maintain decorum during Kali Puja. From this year, along with the police, officials from the State Pollution Control Board will be on the streets to monitor the use of high-decibel firecrackers and pollution due to firecrackers. The police will also be roaming the streets to keep in check any untoward incident.

The police has appealed to the people to abide by the following:

• Do not hire DJs to play music at pandals

• Do not play mikes loudly in front of hospitals, schools, colleges and houses

• Do not construct pandals occupying the whole road

• Like in Durga Puja pandals, install CCTV cameras in Kali Puja pandals too

• Do not explode high-decibel firecrackers indiscriminately

• Firecrackers which emanate sound cannot be exploded in front of hospitals and nursing homes

 

কালীপুজোয় শান্তি-শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখতে উদ্যোগ

রাজ্য সরকার ও কলকাতা পুলিশ-এর তরফ থেকে রাজ্যবাসীকে শুভেচ্ছা বার্তা দেওয়া হয়েছে। পুলিশের তরফে রাজ্যবাসী ও পুজো কমিটিগুলোর কাছে রাখা হয়েছে কিছু আবেদন।

এবার থেকে শব্দবাজিও দৌরাত্ম্য রুখতে এবং দূষণ রুখতে পুলিশের সঙ্গে রাস্তায় ঘুরবেন দূষণ নিয়ন্ত্রণ পর্ষদের কর্তারা। অপ্রীতিকর ঘটনা রুখতে দুর্গাপুজোর মতোই কালীপুজোতেও পথে নামবেন পুলিশের পদস্থ কর্তারা। থাকবেন অন্যান্য পুলিশকর্মীরাও।

আবেদনগুলি হলঃ-
· যথেচ্ছ ডি জে ব্যবহার করবেন না।
· কোনও হাসপাতালে, স্কুল কলেজ, আবাসনের সামনে উচ্চস্বরে মাইক বাজাবেন না।
· রাস্তাজুড়ে মণ্ডপ করবেন না।
· দুর্গাপুজোর মতো কালীপুজোর মণ্ডপেও সিসিটিভি লাগান।
· যথেচ্ছ শব্দবাজি ফাটাবেন না।
· হাসপাতাল ও নার্সিংহোমের সামনে শব্দবাজি ব্যবহার করা যাবে না।

After the immense success of the Durga Puja immersion carnival, now another immersion carnival, or ‘bishorjon carnival’, has been conceived – for Kali Puja. This would be organised by Kolkata Police from next year, and it has the potential to become another success story.

During a recent meeting between Kolkata Police and Kali Puja organisers at Kala Mandir, this idea was agreed upon, as anything that is good and appreciated by people can take place again and again.

During the meeting, the Kolkata Police commissioner said that from this year, Kali Puja organisers can also avail the Aasaan app (like Durga Puja organisers) to get necessary clearances to organise Kali Puja.

The police requested organisers to spread awareness about the ‘Safe Drive, Save Life’ road safety awareness programme, for which they will provide hoardings.

The police also asked puja committees to take necessary steps so that pandal-hoppers do not face any trouble. With the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in full swing, many foreigners are also expected to visit Kali Puja pandals this year.

 

আগামী বছর থেকে সেরা কালী পুজো নিয়ে কার্নিভাল করবে কলকাতা পুলিশ

দুর্গাপুজোর মতো এবার সেরা কালীপুজো নিয়ে কার্নিভাল করতে চায় কলকাতা পুলিশ। আগামী বছর থেকেই এই কার্নিভাল শুরু করতে চান কলকাতা পুলিশ কর্তারা।

কলামন্দিরে শহরের কালীপুজো কমিটিগুলির সঙ্গে পুলিশের বৈঠক হয়। অনেক কালীপুজো কমিটি এই কার্নিভালের দাবি জানান। পুলিশ কমিশনার জানান, “দুর্গাপুজোর মতো কালীপুজোর মন্ডপেও -সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ- থিম চালু করুন। এর পাশাপাশি শহরে এখন চলছে যুব বিশ্বকাপ। সেই কারণে প্রচুর বিদেশী শহরে এসেছেন, তাই, দুর্গাপুজোর মতো কালী পুজোতেও ফুটবলের থিম রাখুন।”

এই বৈঠকে কলকাতা পুরসভা, সিইএসসি, রাজ্য দূষণ নিয়ন্ত্রণ পর্ষদ এবং দমকলের প্রতিনিধিরাও উপস্থিত ছিলেন। দুর্গাপুজোর মতো কালী পুজোতেও এবার থেকে সেরা পুজো বাছতে প্রতিযোগিতার ব্যবস্থা করবে কলকাতা পুলিশ।

The Bengal Government has decided to put into service 300 new buses, including electric buses, from December 1.

The service will start in phases. Both AC and non-AC buses are among the 300. The buses will be operated by all the three government-run transport companies – West Bengal Transport Corporation, North Bengal State Transport Corporation and South Bengal State Transport Corporation.

In the first phase, electric buses in Rajarhat and New Town and 156 other buses – on 156 routes, in both rural and urban areas – will start operating.

Among the 156 routes are eight new routes formulated by the Transport Department between Darjeeling and Mirik. This would give a major push to the transport infrastructure in the Hills region. These routes have been created considering the demand and needs of people residing there, according to the State Transport Minister.

Another initiative is to run mini buses on the Bardhaman- Durgapur-Asansol route. Other routes have been conceived taking into consideration connecting tourist spots of the state, among them being Motijheel, Hazarduari and Darjeeling.

 

৩০০টি নতুন বাস চালাবে রাজ্য সরকার

আগামী পয়লা ডিসেম্বর থেকে নতুন ৩০০টি বাস চালানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। এর মধ্যে থাকবে এসি, নন এসি, ইলেকট্রিক বাসও।এই পরিষেবা পর্যায়ক্রমে চালু হবে।

রাজ্য সরকারের তিনটি পরিবহণ সংস্থা – পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহণ নিগম, উত্তরবঙ্গ রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ সংস্থা ও দক্ষিণবঙ্গ রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ সংস্থা – এই বাসগুলি চালাবে।

প্রথম পর্যায়ে রাজারহাট ও নিউটাউনে ইলেকট্রিক বাস পরিষেবা চালু হবে। সাথে শহরাঞ্চল ও গ্রামবাংলার ১৫৬ টি রুটে আরও ১৫৬ টি বাস চলবে।

এই ১৫৬ টি নতুন রুটে রয়েছে দার্জিলিং ও মিরিক-এর ৮ টি রুট যার ফলে পাহাড়ে পরিবহণ ব্যবস্থা উন্নত হবে। এই রুটগুলি ওখানকার স্থানীয় মানুষদের কথা মাথায় রেখে তৈরি করা হয়েছে। পাশাপাশি বর্ধমান-দুর্গাপুর-আসানসোল রুটে মিনি বাস চালানোর উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে।অন্য রুটগুলি তৈরি করা হয়েছে রাজ্যের পর্যটন কেন্দ্রগুলির কথা মাথায় রেখে।

Kolkata is one of the host cities for FIFA U-17 World Cup. Several important matches of the tournament are to held in the next few days – quarter-final, third-place play off and final – at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (popularly called Salt Lake Stadium).

It is estimated that there will be huge turnouts at the stadium for these matches and so the police and administration are taking all possible measures to ensure the convenience of the spectators.

Keeping the return journey of the spectators in mind, the State Government has decided to run 110 special buses on the days of the matches on three routes – from Amul Island near the stadium to Sealdah, Howrah and Jadavpur.

The buses will be stationed at GD Island and from 6:30 pm, they will start leaving along the three routes based on demand.

বিশ্বকাপে দর্শকদের সুবিধার্থে এবার ১১০টি বাস চালাবে রাজ্য

কলকাতায় বিশ্বকাপের খেলা এখনও অনেকগুলি বাকি। তার মধ্যে আছে কোয়ার্টার ফাইনাল, তৃতীয় স্থানের খেলা ও ফাইনাল খেলা। এই খেলাগুলিকে কেন্দ্র করে মানুষের ভিড়ের পরিমাণ সর্বাধিক হতে পারে তার অনুমান করে ফেলেছে পুলিশ।

মানুষের ফেরার সময় বাসের চাহিদার কথা মাথায় রেখে স্পেশ্যাল ১১০টি বাস – যা রাজ্যের পক্ষ থেকে বিশ্বকাপ উপলক্ষে চালু করা হয়েছিল – তিনটি রুটে চালানো হবে। এই রুটগুলি হল, আমুল আইল্যান্ড থেকে শিয়ালদহ, হাওড়া ও যাদবপুর। কারণ, এই তিনটি রুটের বাসের চাহিদা সব থেকে বেশী।

খেলা শেষ হওয়ার আগে, অর্থাৎ সন্ধ্যা সাড়ে ৬টা থেকে ওই বাসগুলিকে জিডি আইল্যান্ডের কাছে দাঁড় করিয়ে রাখবে পুলিশ। পরে চাহিদা অনুযায়ী, ওই বাসগুলিকে বিভিন্ন রুটে ভাগ করে মানুষের যাতায়াতের সুবিধে করে দেওয়া হবে।

Within the next five years, Bengal would become self-reliant in the production of onion. This is the result of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s special attention on the agriculture sector, one of the results of which is the state winning the Krishi Karman award given by the Central Government six years in a row.

From 20 per cent in 2011 (when Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee came to power), the State Government now produces as much as 55 per cent, or 5.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, of the domestic demand, according to the vice-chairman of West Bengal Agro Industries Corporation (WBAIC).

The State Government is conducting awareness workshops with experts to encourage farmers to also plant onion crops. The state has been categorised based on the three components of soil condition, climatic condition and facilities for irrigation to cultivate the right crop at the right place so that farmers get worth of their hard labour.

The Pashimanchal area, comprising of Bankura, Purulia, Paschim Medinipur, Birbhum and Bardhaman districts, produces most of the onion crops. Onion is cultivated twice a year – during the rainy season and during winter.

আগামী পাঁচ বছরে পেঁয়াজ উৎপাদনে স্বনির্ভর হতে চলেছে রাজ্য, আশাবাদী সরকার

রাজ্যে বার্ষিক পেঁয়াজের চাহিদা আনুমানিক ৫.৫লক্ষ মেট্রিক টন। ২০১১ সাল পর্যন্ত রাজ্য মাত্র এর ২০ শতাংশ উৎপাদন করতে পারত। গত ছয় বছরে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বাধীন সরকারের নানা উদ্যোগে উৎপাদন বেড়ে হয়েছে ৫৫ শতাংশ। এখনও ৪৫ শতাংশ পেঁয়াজ মহারাষ্ট্রের নাসিক থেকে আমদানি করতে হয়। এই হারে উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধি হলে আগামী পাঁচ বছরে রাজ্য পেঁয়াজ উৎপাদনে স্বনির্ভর হতে চলেছে।

রাজ্য সরকারকে পেঁয়াজ আমদানির পরিবহণ বাবদ অনেক টাকা গুনতে হয়। পেঁয়াজ বছরে দু’বার চাষ হয়। একবার হয় বর্ষাকালে যেগুলির রঙ হয় গাঢ় লাল ও আরেকবার চাষ হয় শীতকালে যে পেঁয়াজগুলির রঙ হয় একটু সাদাটে ও নাম সুখসাগর।

রাজ্যে বাঁকুড়া, পুরুলিয়া, পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর, বীরভূম ও বর্ধমানে পেঁয়াজ চাষ হয়। চাষিদের পেঁয়াজ চাষে উৎসাহিত করতে রাজ্য কৃষি দপ্তর রাজ্য জুড়ে বিভিন্ন সচেতনতামূলক কর্মশালা করছে ।

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee today held an all-party meeting with Hill parties at Nabanna. Addressing the media after the meeting, she said it was constructive and positive. The next meeting will be held at Pintail Village (in Darjeeling district) on 21 November at 4 PM.

Excerpts of her statement:

We all want peace and normalcy to be restored in Darjeeling. We are working towards finding a permanent solution. Darjeeling is an inseparable part of Bengal.

The Centre unilaterally decided to withdraw central forces from Darjeeling, without even informing the State. We were not consulted. This is unfortunate and shocking.

There were 11 companies in Darjeeling earlier; after the order of honourable Calcutta High Court, they sent 4 more. Out of these, 7 companies are being withdrawn. This is a violation of court’s order. This decision is bad both politically as well as administratively. We must extend all cooperation to the people of the Hills.

BJP is stoking tension in Darjeeling. Does the Centre not want normalcy to be restored in the Hills? One leader of the BJP went to Darjeeling and then came this decision. I think this decision was taken based on BJP’s party report. This was a political decision of BJP, not an administrative decision of the Centre. This is political game plan, a conspiracy to divide Bengal.

Few neighbouring countries and states, some insurgent groups from the North Eastern States are aiding these people in inciting violence in Darjeeling. We have all the evidence. We lost one of our officers of the Bengal Police; the BJP did not offer any condolence.

I have written to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister on this issue. I hope justice will be done. The number of central forces deployed in Bengal is much lesser than other States:

Jammu & Kashmir: 402 companies
Chhatisgarh: 252 companies
Jharkhand: 144 companies
NE States: 120 (excluding Army)
Delhi: 50 companies
Odisha: 84 companies
Bihar: 48 companies
Bengal: 15 coils of which 7 are withdrawn

Why is Bengal being discriminated against? Just because we speak against the BJP? How many central forces were given to Haryana during the violence by Gurmeet Ram Rahim supporters? Is it not the duty of the Centre to provide forces when States seek them?

This is an insult to Bengal. This is an insult to the people of the Hills. They want justice. They want peace. They want unity. They want integrity.

 

 

বাংলা ভাগের চক্রান্ত করছে বিজেপি: মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

 

আজ পাহাড়ের সব দলগুলি নিয়ে বৈঠক করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বৈঠকের পর সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী জানান আজকের বৈঠক ইতিবাচক ও গঠনমূলক হয়েছে। পরবর্তী বৈঠক ২১ নভেম্বর বিকেল ৪ টেয় দার্জিলিং জেলার পিনটেল ভিলেজে হবে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশ:

অশান্তি নয় আমরা দাজিলিং এর উন্নয়ন শান্তি চাই। এই সমাধান করার চেষ্টা করছি এবং আমরাই এর সমাধান করব । দার্জিলিং বাংলার অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ।

কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার রাজ্যকে না জানিয়ে কেন্দ্রীয় বাহিনী তুলে নিয়েছে, আমরা এই ঘটনায় হতবাক, এটা অপ্রত্যাশিত । রাজ্যের সঙ্গে কোনও রকম আলোচনা করেনি। আমরা এই ঘটনায় আমরা খুশি নই, এটা দুর্ভাগ্যজনক।

দার্জিলিঙে আগে ১১ টি বাহিনী ছিল; কোর্ট নির্দেশ দেওয়ার পর সব মিলিয়ে মোট ১৫ টি বাহিনী দিয়েছিল কেন্দ্র। তাঁর মধ্যে ৭ টি বাহিনী প্রত্যাহার করে নিয়েছে। রাজনৈতিক ও প্রশাসনিকভাবে এটা খারাপ সিদ্ধান্ত। এর মাধ্যমে আদালতের অবমাননা করা হয়েছে। আমাদের উচিত পাহাড়বাসীর সাথে সহযোগিতা করা।

বারবার বিজেপি দার্জিলিঙে অশান্তি ছড়াচ্ছে। কেন্দ্র কি চায় না দার্জিলিং এ শান্তি ফিরে আসুক? আমার মনে হয় এটা বিজেপির দলীয় সিদ্ধান্ত, সরকারি সিদ্ধান্ত নয়। আমরা এই সিদ্ধান্ত মানব না। এটা পলিটিকাল গেম প্ল্যান , বাংলাকে ভাগ করার চক্রান্ত।

বিজেপি-র এক নেতা দার্জিলিং গেলেন আর তারপরে সেখানে কি কি হল সবাই দেখেছেন। ওখানে কিছু প্রতিবেশি দেশ ও রাজ্য থেকে মদত দেওয়া হচ্ছে। উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের কিছু বিচ্ছিন্নতাবাদী সংগঠন মদত দিচ্ছে, অস্ত্র সরবরাহ করছে। আমাদের কাছে সমস্ত তথ্যপ্রমাণ আছে।

আমরা আমদের মাথা নত দেব না। আমাদের অফিসার মারা গেছেন ওরা কোনও সমবেদনা জানায় নি। আমি প্রধানমন্ত্রী ও স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রীকে চিঠি দিয়েছি, ব্যাপারটি গুরুত্ব দিয়ে দেখার জন্য আবেদন জানিয়েছি। আশা করি আমরা সঠিক বিচার পাব।

অন্যান্য রাজ্যের তুলনায় পশ্চিমবঙ্গে কেন্দ্রীয় বাহিনীর সংখ্যা অনেক কম:

বাংলার প্রতি কেন এই বঞ্চনা? অন্য রাজ্য থেকে থেকে কেন কেন্দ্রীয় বাহিনী প্রত্যাহার করা হচ্ছে না? রাজ্যের সাহায্য দরকার হলে তাকে সাহায্য করা কি কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের কর্তব্য নয়?

রাম রহিমের সময় হরিয়ানাকে কত কোম্পানি দিয়েছিলি? যেহেতু বাংলা বিজেপির বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলে তাই এত বঞ্চনা? এটা বাংলার বড় অপমান, বাংলার পাহাড়ের মানুষের অপমান। পাহাড়ের মানুষ ন্যায় চায়, শান্তি চায়, একতা চায়।

The State Food and Supplies Department has introduced special food packages for the festive season. In the first phase, these packages were distributed between September 15-17, on the occasion of Durga Puja.

Distribution for the second phase, to mark the occasion of Chhat Puja and Diwali, has commenced on October 11 and will continue till October 27.

These are the benefits of the special food package:

1. 1 litre mustard oil for Rs 91.5
2. 1 litre rice bran oil for Rs 79.5
3. 500 g subsidised malda for Rs 22/kg
4. 500 g subsidised sugar for Rs 38.5/kg

বিশেষ ফুড প্যাকেজ রাজ্য সরকারের

রাজ্যবাসীদের জন্য সুখবর নিয়ে এল রাজ্য সরকার। খাদ্য সরবরাহ দপ্তর ঘোষণা করেছে উৎসবের সময় স্পেশ্যাল ফুড প্যাকেজ দেবে রাজ্য সরকার।

The State Fisheries Development Corporation (SFDC), under the Bengal Fisheries Department, has started the facility of ordering fish online and through SMS. From rohu to catla to bata to all the favourite fishes of Bengalis, are now available from the comfort of one’s home.

The fishes are delivered the day after being ordered. They are delivered on motorbikes, fitted with freezer units to keep the fishes fresh.

Since the fish are procured directly from the fishery cooperatives under the Fisheries Department, they are available at a price cheaper that in the markets. For now, the service is available in Salt Lake and New Town.

এবার এসএমএসের মাধ্যমে এবং অনলাইনে মাছের অর্ডার দেওয়া যাবে

রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তর এবার জনগণের জন্য আনল এক বিশেষ পরিষেবা। এবার এসএমএসের মাধ্যমে অনলাইনে মাছের অর্ডার দিতে পারবে যে কেউ। রুই, কাতলা বা বাটা মাছ সবই মিলবে অনলাইনে।

যেদিন অর্ডার দেওয়া হবে তার পরের দিনই মাছ পৌঁছে দেওয়া হবে ফ্রিজযুক্ত মোটরসাইকেলে করে।

যেহেতু এই মাছগুলি মৎস্য দপ্তরের অন্তর্গত মৎস্য সমবায়গুলি থেকে পাওয়া যায়, বাজারের থেকে এই মাছের দাম কম হবে। এই মুহুর্তে এই পরিষেবা সল্টলেক ও নিউটাউনে শুরু করা হয়েছে।

Taking selfies is the craze now, and few experiences can better that of taking a selfie with a royal Bengal tiger. Well, not a live one, but so what? The Sundarbans Walkthrough Diorama at the Marine Aquarium and Regional Centre (MARC) in Digha in Purba Medinipur district gives you that opportunity now.

A diorama is a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures, either in miniature or as a large-scale museum exhibit.

The diorama at MARC is a large-scale exhibit imitating the floral and faunal architecture of the Sundarbans. The soil is just like the soft soil of the Sundarbans. Besides life-size models of tigers, crocodiles and other animals, the life of fishermen of the region has also been depicted.

Entering the diorama would give one the impression that one has come to the Sundarbans. This is as real an experience as a model could give.

Since the Trinamool Congress came to power in 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken a lot of initiatives to make Digha into a world-class resort. Over the last six years, various parks, roads, walkways, etc. have been built. Tourists now have access to a lot of amenities. Biswa Bangla Park has become a tourist hot spot. A coast-hugging highway, named ‘Saikat Sarani’ by Mamata Banerjee, stretches from Digha right through to Udaypur, which has become very popular with tourists. A lot of trees have been planted. A helicopter service has been introduced too, connecting Digha to Kolkata.

দিঘার নয়া আকর্ষণ রয়্যাল বেঙ্গল টাইগারের সঙ্গে সেলফি

নিজের মোবাইলে সেলফি তোলার মজাই আলাদা। তার ওপর সেই সেলফি যদি রয়্যাল বেঙ্গল টাইগারের সঙ্গে হয়, তাহলে তো কথাই নেই। জীবনের ঝুঁকি ছাড়াই দিঘায় সমুদ্রস্নানে এসে সেই সুযোগ নিতে পারবেন পর্যটকেরা। শুধু রয়্যাল বেঙ্গল টাইগার নয়, সুন্দরবনের কুমির কিংবা তিমি মাছের সঙ্গে সেলফি তুলেও হোয়াটস অ্যাপ বা ফেসবুকের ডিপি দিতে পারবেন পর্যটকেরা। তার জন্য দিঘার মেরিন অ্যাকুয়ারিয়ামে একবার আসতেই হবে।

২০১১ সালে রাজ্যে ক্ষমতা বদলের পর রাজ্য সরকার দিঘা, মন্দারমনি সহ পূর্ব মেদিনীপুর জেলার সবকটা সমুদ্র সৈকত নগরীর পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে পর্যটকদের আকর্ষণ বাড়াতে একের পর এক রূপদান করে চলেছে। যোগাযোগ পরিষেবার মান বাড়াতে সড়ক ও রেলপথের পাশাপাশি আকাশ পথে হেলিকপ্টারে রাজ্যের রাজধানী কলকাতার সঙ্গে দিঘাকে যুক্ত করেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

এবার নয়া আকর্ষণ- সুন্দরবন ওয়াকথ্রু ডায়রামা প্রকল্পে মিউজিয়ামের একটা অংশকে সুন্দরবনের পরিবেশের মতো সাজিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে। এই এলাকার মাটি একেবারে সুন্দরবনের এলাকার মাটির মতো তৈরি করা হয়েছে। তার মধ্যে মডেলের মাধ্যমে মৎস্যজীবীদের জীবনযাত্রা, রয়্যাল বেঙ্গল টাইগার, কুমির প্রভৃতি সুন্দরবনের জীবজন্তু তুলে আনা হয়েছে।

এই এলাকায় ঢুকে পড়লে যে কোনও মানুষের মনে হবে তাঁরা সুন্দরবনের কোনও এলাকায় ঢুকে পড়েছেন। ফলে সমুদ্রের আনন্দ নিতে এসে পর্যটকেরা কৃত্রিম ভাবে হলেও সুন্দরবন ঘুরে দেখার স্বাদ নিতে পারবেন।
