State organises tourism summit to promote Bengal
After the mega success of Bengal Global Business Summit, it now time for another major summit. Tourism summit ‘Destination East’, being jointly organised by West Bengal Government, is going to start in Kolkata today.
As part of the drive to make West Bengal one of India’s most tourist-friendly states, representatives of well-known tour operators from 25 countries, who are participating in the summit too, would tour the state to find out ways to improve the tourism infrastructure of different places and also find out new places to promote.
The team of 35 representatives would go to Gajaldoba, Darjeeling, the Dooars, Santiniketan, Bishnupur, Digha, Murshidabad, Purulia and other places.
Tourism using the State’s waterways, especially along the Hooghly from Kolkata to Murshidabad, is also being promoted.
The State Government has allotted an initial amount of Rs 100 crore to improve the tourism infrastructure of West Bengal.
The team of representatives of the tour operators would tour the State summit till February 6.
বিশ্বের পর্যটকদের আগামী গন্তব্যই হল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ
বিশ্ববঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলনের সাফল্যের পর আজ থেকে শুরু হচ্ছে ‘ট্যুরিজম সামিট’। ‘ডেসটিনেশন ইস্ট’ এই স্লোগানকে সামনে রেখে এই সামিট শুরু হচ্ছে কলকাতায়।
বিশ্বের ২৫টি দেশের বিখ্যাত ট্যুর অপারেটর কোম্পানির প্রতিনিধিরা রাজ্যজুড়ে ঘুরে বেড়াবেন এবং এই পরিকাঠামোকে আরও কীভাবে উন্নত করা যায় এবং আরও কিছু স্থান খুজে বের করবেন যা পর্যটন কেন্দ্র রূপে গড়ে তোলা যায়।
গাজলডোবা, দার্জিলিং, ডুয়ার্স, শান্তিনিকেতন, বিষ্ণুপুর, দিঘা, মুর্শিদাবাদ ও পুরুলিয়া সহ দক্ষিণবঙ্গের বেশ কিছু জায়গায় যাবে ৩৫ জনের একটি প্রতিনিধি দল।
স্থলপথে পর্যটনের পাশাপাশি জলপথে পর্যটনকেও গুরুত্ব দিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার। গঙ্গাপথে মুর্শিদাবাদ থেকে কলকাতা যাওয়ার জলপথ ব্যবস্থাটিও উন্নত করার কথা ভাবা হচ্ছে।
পশ্চিমবঙ্গের প্রাথমিকভাবে পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নের জন্য প্রায় ১০০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করেছে রাজ্য সরকার।
আগামী ৬ ফেব্রুয়ারি পর্যন্ত বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন জায়গার ট্যুরিজম বিভাগের প্রতিনিধিরা পশ্চিমবঙ্গে ঘুরে বেড়াবেন।
