Stay at home, stay safe, says chief minister at press conference at Nabanna

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had already said she would brief the press on matters related to Cyclone Yaas at 6 pm at the state secretariat, Nabanna. She has also decided to stay all night at the disaster control room in Nabanna.

Highlights of her press conference:

A tornado occurred for about a minute and a half in Chinsurah and Halishahar, in which 40 houses were damaged.

Two people died due to electrocution in Pandua.

I am praying and hoping that there would be less damage.

Recent information says that Cyclone Yaas could land at Paradip and Sagar Island too.

Eleven lakh people have been moved to safer places.

As a result of the impending cyclone, conditions suitable for the formation of tornadoes are being created in several places. So people should be careful.

Till Wednesday afternoon stay safely in your homes. We want the people to stay well, and therefore, I am asking people to stay at home till the cyclone blows over.

Don’t be scared; we will be providing all the latest updates. We are monitoring the situation closely.
