Agricultural Marketing Dept: Providing proper platforms for marketing state’s produce
The Agricultural Marketing Department of the Bengal Government has done tremendous work, since the Trinamool Congress came to power seven years ago, to improve the lot of the farmers. With a large population dependant on agriculture, the Government has made provision of proper marketing services for procuring, storing and selling crops grown in the State one of its primary purposes.
Some of the schemes and programmes are described below:
Creation of marketing infrastructure
The Agricultural Marketing Department creates, develops and maintains market infrastructure to encourage smooth, fast and fair marketing of agricultural produce throughout the State. The activities include market-linking roads, establishing primary, secondary and terminal markets, auctions sheds and related works through the West Bengal State Agricultural Marketing Board and the various district Regulated Market Committees (RMC). Forty-five projects worth approximately Rs 65 crore were taken up during financial year (FY) 2017-18.
Cold storage
The Government runs 568 cold storages across the State with a collective capacity of 77.83 lakh metric tonnes (LMT). The Directorate of Agricultural Marketing, empowered by the West Bengal Cold Storage (Licensing and Regulation) Act, 1966, issues licenses for their construction and monitors their activities too.
কৃষি বিপণন প্রকল্প সমূহ
২০১১ সালে ক্ষমতায় আসার পর থেকে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বাধীন তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস সরকার জোর দিয়েছেন কৃষি বিপণনের ওপর। নিয়েছে একগুচ্ছ প্রকল্প। এর ফলে রাজ্যে কৃষি বিপণন পেয়েছে এক নতুন মাত্রা।
এখন দেখে নেওয়া যাক, এই দপ্তর যেসকল প্রকল্পের ওপর ভিত্তি করে সাফল্য অর্জন করেছে, তার কয়েকটি উল্লেখ করা হলঃ
বাজারের পরিকাঠামো তৈরী
রাজ্য কৃষি বিপণন বোর্ড ও বিভিন্ন জেলা পরিচালিত বাজার সমিতির সাহায্যে কৃষি বিপণন দপ্তর বাজারের পরিকাঠামো তৈরী করছে ও রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ করছে। এই পরিকাঠামো তৈরীর মধ্যে আছে রাজ্য জুড়ে বাজারের সঙ্গে সংযোগকারী রাস্তা, প্রাথমিক, দ্বিতীয় ও টার্মিনাল বাজার তৈরী, নিলামঘর তৈরী যার মাধ্যমে কৃষিজ উৎপাদনের বিপণন সহজ, তাড়াতাড়ি ও স্বচ্ছ হয়। ২০১৭-১৮ সালে ৬৫ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে ৪৫টি প্রকল্প শুরু করা হয়েছে। ২০১৮-১৯ সালে আরও বাজারের পরিকাঠামো তৈরীর জন্য ১৪৬.৫৫ টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে।
হিমঘর
ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল কোল্ড স্টোরেজ (লাইসেন্সিং ও রেগুলেশন) অ্যাক্ট, ১৯৬৬ অনুসারে কৃষি বিপণনের অধিদপ্তর হিমঘর তৈরীর জন্য লাইসেন্স প্রদান করে ও তাদের কার্যকলাপের ওপর পরিদর্শন ও নজরদারি করে। এই মুহূর্তে রাজ্যে ৫৬৮টি হিমঘর আছে, সব মিলিয়ে এই হিমঘরগুলির মজুত রাখার ক্ষমতা ৭৭.৮৩ লক্ষ মেট্রিক টন।
