Bengal records increase in average food production
Bengal has witnessed an average growth in production of food grains by 20.02 percent in the past six years after the change of guard in the state.
A comparative data of the state agriculture department shows that the average food grain production in between 2011 and 2016 is 170.22 Lakh Metric Tonne (LMT) while that of 2006 to 2011 during the Left Front government was 157.77 LMT.
In the past six years, the state has achieved a success in increasing the average production of food grains by such a huge percentage. This comes at a time when the Mamata Banerjee-government has bagged the Centre’s very prestigious Krishi Karman Award for the fifth consecutive year for excellence in agriculture.
The success of the Mamata Banerjee-government has come following a series of steps taken up by the state agriculture department in ensuring use of new technologies and techniques to increase the production of food grains. At the same time the state government has ensured a steady increase in the farmers’ household annual income.
ছয় বছরে বাংলায় বেড়েছে খাদ্যশস্য ফলন
২০১১-এ রাজ্যের শাসনভার পরিবর্তনের পর গত ছয় বছরে বাংলায় গড় খাদ্যশস্য উৎপাদন বেড়েছে ২০.০২ শতাংশ।
একটি তুলনামূলক বিচারে দেখা গেছে ২০০৬ থেকে ২০১১ বাম শাসনকালে গড় খাদ্য শস্য উৎপাদিত হয়েছিল ১৫৭.৭৭ লক্ষ মেট্রিক টন, যা পরবর্তী পাঁচ বছর অর্থাৎ তৃণমূল সরকারের শাসনকালে বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ১৭০.২২ লক্ষ মেট্রিক টনে।
আর এই অভূতপূর্ব উন্নতির ফলেই মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় শাসিত বাংলা কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের সম্মানীয় কৃষি কর্মন পুরস্কার পেয়েছে পরপর পাঁচ বছর।
আর এই সাফল্য এসেছে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সরকারের কৃষি দপ্তরের নানাবিধ পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণের ফলে। এই পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণের মধ্যে ছিল নিত্যনতুন পদ্ধতি ও প্রযুক্তি অভিযোজন করা যার ফলে খাদ্যশস্যর উৎপাদন বেড়েছে। এর পাশাপাশি রাজ্য সরকার সমানে নজর রেখেছে কৃষকদের জীবনধারার উন্নয়ন ও বার্ষিক আয় বৃদ্ধি করার।
