Special menu at SFDC restaurants on the occasion of Bhai Phonta

Do you stay away from your family? Missing your siblings on Bhai Phonta? Worry not. Thanks to the State Fisheries Department, your Bhai Phonta will become special this year. The State Fisheries Development Corporation (SFDC) has arranged a special meal menu on the occasion at Nalban Food Court.

Most SFDC outlets are run by women. They will give Bhai Phonta to customers on that day. Arrangements will be made for dhaan, durba, chandan and other items required for the rituals. Following the traditional rituals, there will be a sumptuous meal to look forward to.

Hilsa, prawns, lobsters, crabs, pabda, koi, rohu are some of the fishes that will be served on that day. The recipes will be traditional Bengali dishes from both sides of the border. ‘Achari bhapa ilish’, a popular dish of Bangladesh will be served.

Two types thalis will be served – Gangaparer thali (with popular dishes of West Bengal) and Padmaparer thali (with dishes from East Bengal). Galdachingrir malaikari, fulkopi diye chingri machher dalna and chalta chutney are some of the dishes that will be common to both thalis.

The special menu will be served from Tuesday itself at the restaurant in Nalban Food Park. Orders can be placed online via the SFDC’s mobile app too, which will be delivered within three hours.
