Singur performing well in Agriculture: Minister
995.9 acres of land have been made cultivable in Singur, the Agriculture Minister informed the State Assembly on November 26.
He said, till October 31, 2018, 995.9 acres of land have been made cultivable in Singur. That apart, as per the initiatives of the government, a planned development of the irrigation system in the area is being worked upon. From canals to tubewells, every necessary infrastructure has been built for this purpose.
Mustard, masoor, khesari, potato, boro rice, mug, kalai, vegetables, sesame, maize and jute are some of the crops being cultivated in Singur.
In the last agricultural year (2017-18), paddy production could touch 2,57,78,642 tonnes, the minister said. He added that eastern India will witness a green revolution in the coming years, with increased productivity, conversion of uncultivable land to cultivable land, and optimal use of agricultural equipment.
