Financial assistance to buy e-rickshaws, courtesy Bangla Govt
The Bangla Government has decided to start a scheme of giving financial assistance to the unemployed youth to buy e-rickshaws. The amount of assistance would be Rs 37,500 per person.
The plan is to launch about one lakh e-rickshaws across the State; hence the total cost to be borne by the State would be around Rs 375 crore.
The funding structure of the scheme would be similar to the much-lauded Gatidhara scheme. The cost of buying an e-rickshaw would be covered partly by the State Government, partly through a bank loan with lenient interest rate and the rest by contribution from the buyer concerned.
Of the Rs 1.25 lakh, which is the cost of an e-rickshaw, 30 per cent or Rs 37,500 would be paid by the State Government, 55 per cent or Rs 68,750 would be in the form of a bank loan and the rest 15 per cent or Rs 18,750 would be the buyer’s contribution.
