Bengal Govt demarcates ‘green zones’ for Kolkata
The State Government has designated several areas of Kolkata, particularly those close to the airport and Nabanna, as ‘green zones’. This has been done with an eye on the Bengal Global Business Summit to be held on January 16 and 17, when many foreign delegates would be visiting the city.
The initiative is under the newly-introduced scheme, Green City Mission, which aims at developing sustainable and eco-friendly ‘Green and Clean Cities’ and planned development of all 125 municipal cities and towns of Bengal.
Specifically, the areas include Jessore Road upto Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, along Biswa Bangla Sarani and EM Bypass, upto Parama Island, areas from the airport to Chinar Park via Kazi Nazrul Islam Sarani, and major arterial roads – Parama Island to Nabanna via Maa Flyover and AJC Bose Road Flyover and from Nabanna to New Alipore through Alipore Road.
The green zones would be cleaned up and beautified to make the city more eco-friendly and attractive. Measures include garbage cans along roads, regular cleaning of garbage, no stacking of building materials along the roads, smooth and bump-free roads, proper illumination, prohibition of open burning of disposable materials, CCTV camera surveillance, etc.
কলকাতায় ‘গ্রীন জোন’ তৈরী করছে রাজ্য সরকার
বিমানবন্দর ও নবান্নর সন্নিকটে বিভিন্ন জায়গাকে ‘গ্রীন জোন’ হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করেছে রাজ্য সরকার। আগামী ১৬ ও ১৭ই জানুয়ারি অনুষ্ঠিত হতে চলা বিশ্ব বঙ্গ বাণিজ্য সম্মেলনকে নজরে রেখেই মূলত এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। গ্রীন সিটি মিশন প্রকল্পের অধীনে এই উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে।
এই ‘গ্রীন জোন’ অঞ্চলের মধ্যে রয়েছে যশোর রোড থেকে বিবেকানন্দ যুবভারতী ক্রীড়াঙ্গন, বিশ্ব বাংলা সরণি ও বাইপাস ধরে পরমা আইল্যান্ড, কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম সরণি ধরে বিমানবন্দর থেকে চিনার পার্ক, মা উড়ালপুল ও এজেসি বোস রোড উড়ালপুল ধরে পরমা আইল্যান্ড থেকে নবান্ন এবং আলিপুর রোড ধরে নবান্ন থেকে নিউ আলিপুর।
এই অঞ্চলগুলির সৌন্দর্যায়ন করা হবে। রাস্তার ধারে ধারে জঞ্জাল ফেলার জায়গা করা হবে, নিয়মিত জঞ্জাল পরিষ্কার করা হবে, রাস্তার ধারে কোনও প্রকার নির্মাণ সামগ্রী জমা হতে দেওয়া হবে না। রাস্তায় করা হবে আলোর ব্যবস্থা, সিসিটিভির নজরদারি ইত্যাদি।
