Bangla Govt to form Namashudra Development Board
A Namasudra Development Board is all set to come up in the State. Front rung leaders of the community met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Uttarkanya on Thursday. They said that the CM has extended all possible support to the movement launched by various social organisations against the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.
Mamata Banerjee held back-to-back meetings with the Namasudra community; socio-cultural organisations of Assam and various tribal organisations at Uttar Kanya, the mini Secretariat in Jalpaiguri district bordering Siliguri on Thursday.
It may be mentioned that the state government has constituted numerous development boards for different communities in the State. Formation of a Namasudra Development Board was a long standing demand of the people of the community, which has now been fulfilled.
