West Bengal Govt. launches Yuvashree Scheme
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee today launched the Yuvashree scheme at a programme organized by the Department of Labour at Netaji Indoor Stadium. The Chief Minister also handed over cheques to some of the beneficiaries of the scheme.
Aim of the scheme
Under the scheme, the State Government aims to provide unemployment allowance of Rs.1,500 per month to 1,00,000 unemployed youth. The State Labour Department has made a comprehensive list of 100,000 beneficiaries based on several criteria like education (those who have passed at least eighth standard) and age group (beneficiaries must be in the age group of 18 to 45 years). The beneficiaries have been chosen from those who have registered their names in the employment bank portal, launched earlier by the government. The recipients of the allowance are required to use it for training, vocational or otherwise, which will make them fit for employment.
Chief Minister`s address to the youth
“Yuvashree is your right and our responsibility. Financial crisis in the state will not stop the Govt. from performing its duty towards our brothers and sisters. Work will not find you; you will have to find your work. Struggle now and you will reap the fruit in future. This is just a small assistance from the government.
Our work, our development and our progress is the answer to all the allegations, acquisitions and discouragements.
Importance and advantages of employment bank are many, like for example it is a common platform for both employers and employees. I could request the private firms to pick candidates from the employment back.
No work is demeaning; every work has its significance for the development of the society.
The youth must be active. Rise above all adverse situations in life. This scheme will help you. Build your own career. Move ahead in life. `Hotasha Bhango, Jibon Goro.`

The Yuvashree scheme is a brainchild of the Chief Minister and she has also designed the logo and created the slogan herself.
