Sudip Bandyopadhyay asked a Supplementary Question on provision of financial assistance for a unani medical college-cun-hosputal in Kolkata
Sir, I had the opportunity to be in this Ministry for some time. So, I know that AYUSH stands for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. In different States, it has different type of influence. In the whole of country, homeopathy treatment is best in West Bengal; Siddha is accepted in Karnataka and a few other States; and Ayurveda is best in Kerala, as the hon. Member was telling. Sir, in West Bengal, we have a very well-established Unani College with a hospital in Kolkata, but that is suffering from a huge financial crunch. I would like to know from the hon. Minister whether the Government of India can look into this issue and take it up with the State Government, and provide them some financial assistance by which this very beautiful and accepted institution can survive.
