`Maa, Mati, Manush Dibas` to be held on January 30, 2014

`Maa, Mati, Manush Dibas` to be held on January 30, 2014
In view of the municipal elections scheduled in various districts spanning the state, the party has decided to reschedule the `Maa, Mati, Manush Dibas` rally. The Secretary General of the party, Partha Chatterjee informed the media at a press conference today that the annual event would happen on January 30, 2014 instead.
“Municipal elections will be held in five towns in the state in November. One of the places where the elections will be held is Howrah. Party workers in almost 13 districts adjoining Howrah are involved in election work. We were unaware that results of the municipal polls will be declared on November 25. In view of the ongoing poll process, the party has decided to shift the date of `Maa, Mati, Manush Dibas` rally to January 30, 2014“, Partha Chatterjee said.
“The Chairperson of the party, and the popular leader of the masses, Mamata Banerjee will address the workers on the occasion as always on January 30, 2014 at Brigade Parade ground“, Partha Chatterjee added.
The rally, which was originally planned to be held on July 21, had to be postponed because of the Panchayat polls earlier this year. It was then decided that November 25 would be celebrated as `Maa, Mati, Manush Dibas` at Brigade Parade ground where party workers from across the state would assemble.
But now, with municipal polls scheduled in November, and with model code of conduct for elections in place, organising such a mega event would not be wise, felt the party. Municipal polls are scheduled at Howrah, Krishnanagar, Berhampur, Medinipur and Jhargram on November 22, and counting will be held on November 25.
