I have seen in my own eyes the plight of poor people in precarious conditions – Mamata Banerjee
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee on Facebook –
Due to sudden release of huge water on several occasions in the last few days, 5-6 districts of West Bengal are presently in great trouble.
I have visited 4 districts since yesterday night and I have seen how flow of water from DVC barrages released without any consultation and prior information to the State Government, have inundated large number of villages. Release of water from Galudhi barrage of Jharkhand further added to our woes.
I have seen in my own eyes the plight of poor people in precarious conditions, entirely due to man made incident by some irresponsible people. It was not primarily due to rains. There was no continuous monitoring by those agencies who abruptly and suddenly released water.
I made this unannounced and surprise visit without even a pilot car, even while travelling to Jangal Mahal areas.
I am happy that Home Secretary and DG Police have travelled with me and Chief Secretary also joined at Kolaghat.
I am also happy to see how our administration and people are putting their best foot forward with whatever is possible within our limitations.
I started my visit yesterday evening and till now I am on the road.
I thought of sharing my visit with all my facebook friends. Thank you all so much for all of your responses on my facebook page.
Your response is my energy.
