SFDC buying state-of-the-art freezers for exporting packed fish
The State Fisheries Development Corporation (SFDC) is buying state-of-the-art freezers for deep-freezing fish, which would then be exported.
In recent times, fish from Bengal has captured a portion of the international market, and the demand is only increasing. The latest initiative is with the aim to cater to that demand.
The corporation has bought two freezers, whose technical name is hardener deep freezer. One is kept at Nalban in Kolkata and the other in Henry’s Island in South 24 Parganas. There is a plan to buy two more.
Each freezer can store 100 to 125 kilogram (kg) fish, and costs Rs 1.75 lakh. The packaged fish is frozen and kept ready for export in these machines.
At the recently-held World Food India food festival in New Delhi, Bengal’s fish was a major topic of discourse among potential investors, and consequently, various deals were signed for acquiring new fish farming techniques and providing technical help to other states in this regard, as well as developing fish processing techniques for the domestic and international markets, of which exporting frozen fish is a component.

বিদেশে ভালো গুণগতমানের প্যাকেটজাত মাছ বিক্রি করতে এবার আরও আধুনিক ফ্রিজার কিনছে মৎস্য উন্নয়ন নিগম। ইতিমধ্যে ‘হার্ডনার ফ্রিজার’ নামক ওই শীতাতপ নিয়ন্ত্রিত যন্ত্র দুটি কেনা হয়েছে। আরও দুটি কেনার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে বলে নিগমের পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে। এক একটি ফ্রিজে ১০০-১২৫ কেজি মাছ রাখা যাবে। সেক্ষেত্রে বিদেশে বেশি পরিমাণ মাছ পাঠানোর ক্ষেত্রে এই ফ্রিজটি কার্যকর হবে।
সম্প্রতি দিল্লিতে ফুড ফেস্টিভালে একাধিক বিদেশি সংস্থার কাছ থেকে প্যাকেটজাত মাছ সরবরাহ করার প্রস্তাব এসেছে। অদূর ভবিষ্যতে যদি তাদের সঙ্গে চুক্তি স্বাক্ষরিত হয়, সেক্ষেত্রে নিগম বিদেশেও মাছ সরবরাহ করবে।
কিন্তু বিদেশে সরবরাহ করলে কোনওভাবেই যাতে মাছের গুণগত মানে হেরফের না হয়, সেদিকে বিশেষ নজর রাখার প্রয়োজন রয়েছে। কারণ কলকাতা সহ রাজ্য বা দেশের কোনও প্রান্তে এধরনের প্যাকেটজাত মাছ সরবরাহ যে সময়ের মধ্যে করা সম্ভব, বিদেশে করলে সময় অনেকটাই বেশি লাগবে। এই অতিরিক্ত সময়ে মাছ যাতে কোনওভাবেই নষ্ট না হয়ে যায়, সেবিষয়ে নজর দেওয়ারও প্রয়োজন রয়েছে।
প্রসঙ্গত, নিগমের কাছে প্যাকেটজাত মাছ সংরক্ষণে স্লো ফ্রিজার এবং ব্লাস্ট ফ্রিজার রয়েছে। কলকাতা সহ দেশের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তে প্যাকেটজাত মাছ সরবরাহ করতে যা প্রয়োজন, তাতে এই ফ্রিজারই যথেষ্ট। কিন্তু বিদেশে সরবরাহের ক্ষেত্রে এই ফ্রিজার যথেষ্ট নয়। তাই এই নতুন ফ্রিজার ব্যবহারের সিদ্ধান্ত নিগমের আধিকারিকদের। প্রয়োজনে ধাপে ধাপে আরও কয়েকটি ফ্রিজার কেনারও পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে।
এই অত্যাধুনিক ফ্রিজ নলবনে এবংহেনরি আইল্যান্ডে রাখা হয়েছে।
