Kalyan Banerjee’s supplementary question on whether the Union government has imparted any training to the coastal police

Kalyan Banerjee’s supplementary question on whether the Union government has imparted any training to the coastal police

Sir, an area up to eight nautical miles from the sea coast remains under the control of the State Government, and beyond that limit the area falls under the control of the Central Government. So, up to eight nautical miles, it is the responsibility of the State Government, and beyond that it is under the Central Government. The coastal police are appointed by the State Government to look after these eight nautical miles from the sea coast. Have you given them any training? You are talking about giving aid and help to the local police stations. How much help have you given to them? How many times is the training being imparted to them? What is your responsibility to be discharged after these eight nautical miles in sea? That is your responsibility. If there is any illegal thing happening beyond those eight nautical miles in the sea, it is the responsibility of the Central Government, not the State Government.
