Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen’s supplementary question on the steps the government is taking to control food inflation, beyond short-term measures like duty cuts, and the update on the removal of GST from medical, life and other insurances
Sir, despite the RBI’s inflation target of four per cent, the food inflation has remained consistently high, which is disproportionately impacting the lower income households who constitute more than 70 per cent of our population. Beyond the short-term interventions like duty cuts, what structural measures is the Government contemplating to ensure food price stability? Through you, Sir, I would also like the hon. Finance Minister to give us update on fully revoking the GST from medical insurance, LIC and other insurance.
