Modi Government is the biggest threat to the country: Mamata Banerjee at Pandua

Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Pandua in Hooghly constituency. In her speech she said that the Modi Government is the biggest threat to the country.

She added that it is our misfortune that Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister. She urged people to defeat the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Highlights of her speech:

  • Modi Government is the biggest threat to the country
  • They have destroyed all the constitutional institutions. Democracy is under attack
  • It is our misfortune that Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister
  • The CPI(M) committed torture against Opposition workers for 34 years. The harmads have become BJP’s ustads
  • Those who orchestrate riots, practice divisive politics, do not deserve to rule the country
  • The BJP claims it is a Hindu party. How can that be? Hinduism is an ancient religion. BJP was formed only a few years ago
  • BJP uses Hinduism for politics. They bring shame to our Gods and Goddesses
  • Neither Hindus, nor Muslims participate in riots. Leaders like Narendra Modi organise riots for political reasons
  • What have they done in the last five years to deserve your vote?
  • We work for people of all communities, castes and creed. We do not discriminate against anyone
  • Like you see ‘440V – Danger’ signs, BJP is also dangerous for the country
  • Those who were initiated in politics through riots are saying mothers in Bengal are worried about the safety of their children
  • Modi is a blatant liar. He is spreading falsehoods about Bengal without any homework
  • They are distributing money. They are luring people to their rallies by offering money
  • They are organising rallies with maces and swords. This is not Bengal’s culture. Have you ever seen such rallies during Basanti Puja?
  • Falsehoods and propaganda is their only strength.
  • The Prime Minister, instead of bolstering peace, is inciting people into violence
  • Some untoward incidents happened. After investigation, CID found out that those were cases of suicide. But they are claiming those are political murders. They are trying to spread tension
  • Like Kalidas axed the branch he was sitting on, Modi is also dividing the country
  • CPI(M), Congress and BJP have come together in Bengal
  • He intimidates everyone – from industrialists to media houses. Even other political leaders are afraid of him. But I have struggled against the CPI(M)’s brutal regime. I am not afraid of anyone
  • Narendra Modi does not visit Bengal when there are floods, droughts or any other problem. Like a seasonal bird he comes here only during elections
  • In the name of NRC and Citizenship Amendment Bill, they want to declare you as foreigners and drive you away. Don’t let them get away with their divisive politics

Marketing a gesture of courtesy is not conducive in democracy: Mamata Banerjee at Suri

Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Suri in Birbhum district. In her speech she attacked the Prime Minister and said marketing a gesture of courtesy is not conducive in democracy.

Highlights of her speech:

  • Modi babu has said I send him kurtas. Where is the problem? We send gifts to all during Durga Puja. We have opened the Biswa Bangla brand. We are empowering our artisans. We send these products not just to Modi babu but everyone. We don’t publicise it like Modi babu. Courtesy and politics are different. I send letters on birthdays to everyone.
  • Marketing a gesture of courtesy is not conducive in democracy.
  • I heard that yesterday the Prime Minister said we raise ‘goons’ here. He also said that Bangla did not witness any development. Another ‘signboard’ leader said Birbhum is Rabindranath Tagore’s birthplace. They don’t have any knowledge. They don’t do any homework
  • They say that nothing has been done in Birbhum. I challenge them to prove me wrong. After Trinamool came to power, 99% families in this district have got some benefit from the government.
  • In Birbhum the largest coal mine in the country is coming up. I want to know from Narendra Modi he delayed the process for three years by not signing an MOU. I want an answer for that.
  • This is a project worth Rs 12,000 crore and thousands of locals will get employment. Your government hasn’t done anything about it under your instruction, as you don’t want to give Bangla anything.
  • Just for the lack of an MoU, work cannot be started. I have called and enquired several times and the only answer I got is that the Prime Minister has said no. So, don’t you feel any shame?
  • You want to know what Mamata Banerjee has done? First you answer me, give an explanation. Then point your finger at me. First you answer, then ask for votes.
  • We worship with flowers. Their worship involves armed rallies with mace and swords. This is not the culture of Bengal
  • Bengal does not tolerate riots. Like a human body is incomplete without all organs, the society is incomplete without all communities
  • I belong to a simple family. They are calling me goon. If I am a goon, what are you? I have never orchestrated riots. We don’t do politics of violence. Do you remember 2002 Godhra riots?
  • They are controlling the media. Journalists are afraid to speak out or else they will be killed
  • I cannot be intimidated. I have fought against the Left. I have been beaten up but I never gave up. I am not afraid of Narendra Modi
  • They are suffering from the fear of defeat. That is why they are coming to Bengal so often to campaign. They can never be seen during disasters or accidents. They come here as seasonal birds
  • The more you abuse us, they higher the mandate will be in our favour
  • They are bringing boxes full of money. This is the money of people. This money was looted during demonetisation
  • Do not allow anyone to buy your votes for money. Cast your vote without fear
  • Earlier he used to call himself a chaiwallah. Then he gave up his kettle for Jaitley. Now he pretends to be a chowkidar
  • Teach these rioters a lesson. Bring about a change in government at Centre. Give them a democratic burial

Fate of the elections have been sealed today: Mamata Banerjee at Arambagh

Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Arambagh. She said that the fate of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 have been sealed with the third phase of polling.

Highlights of her speech:

  • It is our misfortune that all elections are held in Bengal in the summer heat. We had tried to hold Panchayat polls in March but our opposition parties did not allow that
  • Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases, with campaign over three months. This has been done to give advantage to BJP Babus so that they can get adequate time to campaign
  • The country has never seen a situation like this before
  • A 100 bedded medical college and 500 bedded hospital is coming up in Arambagh. Two multi super speciality hospitals, health centres have been set up
  • A Green University is coming up at Tarakeshwar
  • We are formulating Arambagh Master Plan which will help in flood prevention
  • We have also taken up Lower Damodar Basin Project for a cost of about Rs 3000 crore. It includes irrigation projects, constructing embankments and flood prevention measures
  • A new road connecting north and south Bengal is also coming which will benefit people
  • Arambagh has now become a hub of development. In the past this region was neglected
  • New roads and bridges are coming up in the district for the benefit of the people
  • ITIs, polytechnic colleges, Kisan Mandis, Karma Tirthas, model schools, colleges and even four 100 MT paddy godowns have also been set up
  • We have started drinking water supply project at a cost of Rs 70 crore
  • We are setting up a monument in memory of Tapasi Malik, our young martyr in Singur
  • This election is for government formation at Centre. People will decide the Prime Minister. This is not a mandate for Bengal Government
  • Apart from loot and torture, has CPI(M) done anything for the people Arambagh?
  • We have not forgotten how political violence was the order of the day here and fear ruled the roost here
  • We have to love people, care for them. If someone errs, they must seek forgiveness
  • In 2011, our slogan was ‘change not revenge’ that is why we did not act against the CPI(M) goons. The harmads of CPI(M) have now become BJP’s ustads
  • The BJP goons are roaming the streets with arms in hand
  • The PM is running a merchandise shop – he is doing everything for self-publicity
  • Some traitors have joined them and are asking for central forces
  • I have heard that central forcers were sitting inside booth number 166, 167 in Englishbazar in Maldaha Dakshin and influencing the elections. In Itahar also they were asking voters to cast their vote in favour of BJP
  • I want to ask the forces to do their jobs instead of campaigning for any party. After Modi goes out of power, they have to work with us
  • The husband of BJP’s Maldaha Dakshin candidate is sending central forces from Delhi. And they are influencing elections here. We have already lodged a complaint with the Election Commission
  • Even the Army is being called Modi Sena. We salute the armed forces, they serve the nation. The BJP has lost their mind
  • Do not vote for BJP even if they offer money or intimidate you
  • ‘Signboard babu’ is saying Mamata Banerjee is afraid because she can’t rig polls anymore. I want to ask him, what has happened in Tripura? The polls were completely rigged there
  • How many central forces were sent to Gujarat, Bihar, UP? How many officers were changed? They are only targeting Bengal. Remember, Bengal will show them their place
  • They are targeting Bengal because I speak against them. People of Bengal will give them a fitting reply. People of Bengal cannot be intimidated
  • They are asking for an account of the work done by Mamata Banerjee. Why should I give you an account? I will give an account to the people of Bengal during Assembly elections
  • Where were you when there was flood in Arambagh? During natural disasters, we stand by the people. They only come here like seasonal birds during elections. People will send them away
  • He used to call himself a chaiwallah before 2014 polls. Now he pretends to be a chowkidar
  • He promised to bring back black money and deposit Rs 15 lakh in every account. Has he done that? No
  • He declared Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes invalid overnight. Now people will declare his government invalid. More than 12,000 farmers committed suicide under his watch
  • Earlier he used to call everyone Mitron. Now he does not use that term because everyone is his enemy now
  • They are unable to draw crowds at rallies. The TRP of Modi’s face is down. They are spending crores of rupees for organising Bengal rallies
  • The fate of the elections will be sealed today. People are saying enough is enough. Modi babu aar na. Amit Shah aar na
  • He travelled the world for four and a half years and has turned up now to seek votes
  • He is using the names of jawans to seek votes. I want to ask them not to politicise the forces
  • All the institutions have been compromised. If they come back to power, democracy will be finished. They will not allow anymore elections
  • They do not believe in Hinduism. They have one religion – riot-mongering. I want to tell them – do not bring shame to Hinduism and the name of Ram
  • We believe in the Hinduism of Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Maa Sarada and Swami Vivekananda. We do not believe the lies of BJP
  • They would orchestrate some disturbance and blame it on minorities. People must be wary of the RSS pracharaks. Keep an eye on them
  • We provide rice at Rs 2/kg. We provide free healthcare, scholarships like Kanyashree or Sikshashree. We have distributed one crore bicycles under Sabooj Sathi
  • We have waived off mutation fees and khajna tax on agricultural land
  • We pay the full premium of crop insurance for farmers. We offer compensation to farmers affected by natural disasters.
  • We have started Krishak Bandhu scheme under which farmers will get Rs 5,000 per acre annually
  • If any farmer between the ages of 18-60 years passes away, their families will get Rs 2 lakh
  • BJP Govt is a failed govt run by Dushashan and Duryodhan. Let every vote you cast be a slap on the face of the BJP
  • They have committed crimes against Dalits, Adivasis, farmers, minorities
  • We have given forest rights to tribals, which they want to take away
  • More than 2 crore people have lost their jobs in the country
  • Even your money will not be safe in the banks. Using Aadhaar they are trying to snoop on you – from bank accounts to mobile phones
  • The country is in a dire situation. Bengal will show the way for progress
  • Do not vote for the Congress and the CPI(M). They are working in tandem with the BJP

There will now be poriborton in Delhi too: Mamata Banerjee at Khanakul

Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Khanakul in Hooghly district. She once again reiterated that the death knell of the BJP has rung and hence the time for poriborton has come in Delhi too.

Highlights of her speech:

  • Many areas in this region are flooded during the monsoons when the DVC releases water. We have created the Arambagh Master Plan to prevent floods. The DVC is not in our hands as it is a Central organisation, so in spite of our telling them to release water slowly, they don’t listen to us.
  • We have taken up another project to control flooding and improve irrigation – Lower Damodar Basin Project
  • A new road project to connect south and north Bengal is also under progress
  • This is an election for the Lok Sabha election, to decide the next government at Centre
  • Elections being held for a period of two months. Modi Babu and his people are going around in luxury and we are all suffering (in the heat)
  • From pensions to payments under 100 Days’ Work, all governmental work, developmental work is suffering
  • After winning the Lok Sabha election last time, Modi babu was touring foreign countries for four and a half years
  • They are scared to go to many places now but are turning up in Bengal like seasonal birds. Do they come here during natural disasters? Never
  • They have killed Gandhi Ji, and they don’t care about Netaji, Tagore, Babasaheb Ambedkar. They have destroyed the Constitution and undermined many institutions
  • Now they are only intimidating people through ED and the CBI, but they won’t be able to scare Bangla
  • This is the first prime minister who people are so scared of. Now mothers are putting their children to sleep singing lullabies about the scary Modi
  • The death knell of Modi Government has been sounded. It’s time for them to go. There will now be poriborton in Delhi too
  • He promised to create 10 crore jobs in five years. Instead, two crore people lost their jobs in 2017-18
  • Modi announced demonetisation, for controlling black money and stopping terrorism, but on the other hand terrorism has increased by 260%
  • Modi suddenly demonetised money – all money – by force. Now extinguish his power buy voting him out. You have the power.
  • They suddenly imposed the NRC – affecting 22 lakh Assamese Bengalis
  • These saffonites are fake – they are not true Hindus and don’t belong to any religion either
  • They don’t know about the culture of Bangla We follow Shri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Maa Sarada
  • We perform Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja as well as celebrate Eid, Christmas and other festivals. They are telling people to do “goda puja” (mace worship)
  • The BJP is a “goda party”, “tarowal party” (sword) – going around doing mischiefs in mosques. There some shorts-wearing people who are going around creating trouble. Beware of them
  • They are telling lies that I don’t permit Durga Puja and Saraswati Puja in Bangla.
  • The ‘terrible twins’ who are going around spreading lies about me should have their mouth shut with Leucoplast.
  • We have never seen such a shamelessly lying Prime Minister
  • The mutation fees and khajna tax on agricultural land have been waived off for farmers
  • We provide Rs 5,000 per acre of land annually under Krishak Bandhu scheme. We also bear the full premium of crop insurance.
  • We have launched Swasthya Sathi smart cards. They will be issued in the name of women, because they are ones who run the family. More than 7.5 crore people will be entitled to the benefits
  • Students of all castes are studying in schools – many are getting scholarships too
  • We are giving training in ITIs and jobs thereafter. The Utkarsh Bangla Scheme has won a UN award.
  • I follow humanism. I too am a Hindu but my elders never taught me to hate other religions.
  • For NRC, they are asking for documents – like the pre-1951 birth certificate of your mother. How many people can furnish these documents?
  • Through Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, they are trying to take away your citizenship rights and turn you into foreigners. Only after six years would you be re-considered. But why? You are already a citizen, then why do you need to provide proof of that again?
  • I had visited the Tripureswari Temple once. Even at other places, wherever I have gone to worship, when the priests ask me about my gotra, I say my gotra is Maa-Mati-Manush gotra.

Unlike Modi, we fulfill all the promises we make: Mamata Banerjee at Purbasthali

Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee addressed a public meeting at Purbasthali in Purba Bardhaman district.

Highlights of her speech:

  • This region was hit by a storm yesterday. We are with those who were affected. Our govt will allocate at least Rs 300 crore for relief and rehabilitation. You have nothing to worry about.
  • Bardhaman is the rice bowl of the state. We have undertaken a big project for irrigation
  • A major road project, connecting north and south Bengal, has been started.
  • A bridge is coming up that will connect Kalna and Shantipur and will improve connectivity.
  • Several ITIs and polytechnic colleges have been set up in this district. After training, the youth are also getting employment opportunities.
  • More than 60 lakh SC/ST students have received scholarships. Kanyashree scheme has been extended to universities now. More than 70 lakh girls have been empowered
  • We have waived the khajna tax and mutation fees on agricultural land. Our government bears the full cost of the crop insurance scheme for farmers.
  • Swasthya Sathi smart cards will be issued in the name of women, recognising them as the guardian of the family. 7.5 crore people will be entitled to this health insurance scheme
  • This is not an election to decide who will form the government in Bengal. This is an election for the government at Centre
  • Earlier, they used to wear half pants and run around. Now they have turned their party office into a shopping mall, with loads of money in their coffers
  • What is happening in the country? Dalits and minorities are being persecuted. More than 12,000 farmers have committed suicide.
  • Notebandi has also been a major cause of distress. It has destroyed families, industries and created chaos. Now you have an opportunity to remove this govt that has caused so much distress.
  • We fulfill the promises we make, unlike Modi Babu who is full of lies. What has he done in the last five years? He has looted people and toured the world over, while people plunged into poverty and distress.
  • Put an end to the BJP misrule. The CPM harmads have crossed over to their side and are creating trouble in the state.
  • Maa Durga has weapons in her hand, but they do not look good in the hands of humans. The BJP goons are roaming the streets with swords and maces
  • They are moving around with loads of money and trying to buy votes. Don’t fall into their trap.
  • Let every vote you cast be a tight slap for Modi and BJP
  • He only makes tall promises. He intimidates everyone, including leaders of his own party. But I am not afraid. I have struggled against the CPI(M) and I have been beaten up many times.
  • Trinamool and other regional parties will form the next government at Centre.
  • We are also Hindus. But we have never been taught to hate other religions. We can never indulge in politics of discrimination
  • They want to drive people away in the name of NRC. We will not allow this. In the name of Citizenship Amendment Bill, they want to take your citizenship away. Do not allow their conspiracies to become successful
  • Trinamool MPs have had a good performance in Parliament in the last five years

‘Prothom Vote Banglar Pokkhe’ Trinamool releases new song for first-time voters

After the phenomenal response to Trinamool’s first song for Lok Sabha elections 2019, ‘Maa, Mati, Manush’, the party has released a new song ‘Prothom Vote’ for the first-time voters. The song was released on Saturday April 20 on all social media platforms of the party. The video follows the international lyric format where the animated words appear on screen. It ends with an appeal to vote for Trinamool.

The hook line of the song ‘Tomar Prothom Vote Banglar Pokkhe na Bipokkhe, Decision Nao’ (Take a decision where your first vote will be in favour of Bengal or not) was written by Trinamool Youth Congress National President and MP, Abhishek Banerjee. The rest of lyrics has been written by, and the music composed by Bengali rock sensation, Rupam.

The Lok Sabha elections 2019 will be a significant event in the history of India. At a time when the entire country is torn apart because of hate and violence, in Bengal thrives an atmosphere of peace and harmony. Development, not divisive politics, gets an upper hand in the State – 60 lakh girls have been empowered by Kanyashree. The scheme, along with Utkarsh Bangla and Sabooj Sathi has received international recognition.

On one hand, unemployment is on the rise across the country. And on the other hand, in Bengal, youths are being empowered to become self-dependent through schemes likes Gatidhara. Silicon Valley Hub is coming up at Rajarhat, which will open new avenues of employment generation. Salt Lake Yuva Bharati Stadium has also become the best in the country after FIFA U-17 World Cup.

So, it is time for the first-time voters to ‘take a decision’. Will their vote be in favour of or against Bengal? The decision is completely theirs to make. This song makes it easier for them by putting things in perspective. Let their first-vote (prothom vote) be in favour of peace and progress; let it be in Bengal and India’s favour.

India is a young country. With an average age of 27, it is but natural that the youth of the country will have a decisive say in the Lok Sabha elections 2019. Nearly, 5 crore new voters will be exercising their franchise for the first time. Out of these, at least 20 lakh voters are from Bengal.

Trinamool is confident that the song will be able to touch a chord with the young voters (18-22 years) who will cast their -vote (prothom vote). Abhishek Banerjee said, “Over the next one month, we invite the youth of Bengal to engage with this fabulous RAP song in different ways. Through dance, through videos, flash mobs, or just any way they want. Let the creativity of the young generation flow freely.”

Throw out divisiveness, bring in unity: Mamata Banerjee at Jangipur

At the second meeting in Murshidabad today, Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee spoke to a huge gathering at Jangipur. She stressed that there can be no division in voting on religious lines, like the BJP was doing. “We are human beings first,” she said.

HIghlights of her speech:

  • I have come to Jangipur many times before on several occasions, from Azimganj to Beldanga. I know these places very well.
  • Murshidabad is a historic region. British rule in Bengal started from here. History will continue to be created here.
  • You know why we walked out of the Congress. A section of the party was hand in gloves with the CPI(M). It has been proven now. Has it been proven or not? Why we walked out of the Congress? Had Trinamool not been formed, CPI(M) could not have been defeated in Bengal. Congress would not have been able to. Remember this.
  • CPM, Congress, BJP are all bhai bhai – jagai, madai, gadai. It is not a new situation.
RSS is supporting BJP and even Congress in Baharampore. But what sort of Hinduism are they following? They are imposing more of it than being broad-minded and secular.
  • There are many faiths. I am born Hindu but I am first a human being, then I follow all other religions. I chant Hindu mantras every day and Muslim rituals as well. People should also follow this. There can be no division in voting on religious lines. Our basic thought is “Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Issai; hum sabh rahenge bhai bhai”.
  • Money being spent by the parties. The RSS is carrying cash and distributing to people. If you see anything like this, then immediately inform the police.
  • We have done many things for Murshidabad. We have built colleges, ITIs, hospitals – all work we will do and the babus will go to Delhi and claim that they have done it.
  • These babus and leaders come only during election, then go away and forget about the people here.
  • We will win 42 out of 42 and continue with development of Bangla.
  • In name of NRC, so many Hindus and Muslims are being chased out. Over 22 lakh names have been deleted.
  • All these are connivances to break the nation, break Bengal. But Trinamool will not allow this. How can you prevent this? By voting against them. That is the only way you can teach them a lesson.
  • UP and Bengal will decide the new government. BJP will not be coming to power. All the states one after the other will show that BJP is not the party that can show the way for the country’s progress.
  • Hence, we have to change. BJP govt has to change and be removed.
  • Please remember to vote for the Trinamool candidates and jora phool.

Country needs a people’s government: Mamata Banerjee at Itahar

Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Itahar in Uttar Dinajpur district (Balurghat Lok Sabha constituency). She said that the country needs a people’s government. She also said that United India Government will be formed at the Centre.

Highlights of her speech:

My best wishes to all on the occasion of Bengali New Year. Shubho Nobo Borsho

Whenever any disaster occurs, our government always stands by the people. From floods to accidents – we always work for the welfare of the people

From setting up Karma Tirthas to ITIs, Kisan Mandis to paddy procurement centres – we have taken a lot of initiatives for this district

As Railway Minister, I had started the Eklakhi-Balurghat line. I sanctioned the Gazole-Itahar, Raiganj-Itahar, Itahar-Buniyadpur lines also. But the Centre has left these projects incomplete. When our government comes to power at Centre, we will complete these projects

I had started several trains like Janmabhoomi, Raja Rani, Padatik, Kanchan Kanya and others

North Bengal was neglected in the past. We created a new secretariat Uttar Kanya in north Bengal

We have set up the Circuit Bench of Calcutta High Court in Jalpaiguri. People of north Bengal will no longer have to go Kolkata for administrative work

A new university and medical college have been sanctioned for this district. Loans worth Rs 4,000 crore have been sanctioned for small industries and subsidies worth Rs 2,000 crore have been given to them

We have taken measures for exporting Tulaipanji rice (famous rice variety of Uttar Dinajpur). We are also promoting the jute industry of Dinajpur. Many industry clusters have been set up

We have registered 2 lakh folk artistes under Lok Prasar Prakalpa

We have removed the income ceiling for Kanyashree scheme. All girls in government schools are now eligible for the scholarship

We have distributed Sikshashree scholarships to 68 lakh SC/ST students. Caste certificates are now issued within a month

Getting caste certificates is a cumbersome process – because of the 50 year old documents that need to be provided. If we come to power, we will review this process

We have distributed scholarships to 2 crore minority students.

We have encouraged 70,000 minority students to take up higher education

Khajna tax and mutation fees have been waived for agricultural land. We have waived off mutation fees on inherited land. We bear the full cost of crop insurance for farmers.

We have started the Krishak Bandhu scheme. Farmers will receive Rs 5,000 per acre of land annually in two installments

When a farmer passes away, their family will receive financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh

From birth to death, we have a scheme for every stage of life for the welfare of people

From free healthcare to free education, rice at Rs 2/kg, to renovation of crematoriums and burial grounds – we have done it all

We have renovated and developed the pilgrimage sites across Bengal, including Pakhiralay in this district

We believe in Sarva Dharma Samannay. We do not endorse politics of division

This election will decide who will form the government at Centre. This is not an election for the formation of government in Bangla

People ask what has Arpita Ghosh done? Our Trinamool MPs have been vocal on people’s issues in Parliament – from price rise to NRC, against citizenship bill, demonetisation

Arpita Ghosh met with an accident few years ago. She was hospitalised for a year. She had no chances of survival but miraculously survived

Arpita is a prominent theatre personality. She is a fighter. She speaks in favour of Bangla in Parliament. She always asks me for more developmental projects for Balurghat constituency

In the last five years, BJP has not done anything for the people. They have failed to create roti-kapda-makaan for the people

They promised to create 10 crore jobs in five years. Instead, 2 crore jobs lost in 2017-18

They wanted to sell off Air India. We fought against it. BSNL employees are not getting their salaries. Jet Airways is on the verge of closure

We have given job security to contractual and casual workers. Retirement of college professors has been increased

We are issuing Swasthya Sathi smart card to women, recognising them as the guardian of the family. More than 7.5 crore people will be entitled to health insurance, with a cover of Rs 5 lakh annually

More than 12,000 farmers committed suicide across the country. This government committed crimes against Dalits, minorities

The country needs a people’s government. Bengal and UP will decide who will form the next government at Centre. The United India Government will come to power

Every vote counts. Do not waste your vote by voting for the Congress. Neither BJP nor the Congress can form the government on their own. Voting for the CPI(M) will strengthen the BJP

Congress has adjustment with BJP in places like Jangipur and Baharampur

Modi used to say he is chaiwallah. For four and a half years, he was busy touring the world. Now he says, he is chowkidar. We do not need a chowkidar. We need a leader for the country

We respect and salute real chowkidars but not those who sell-off the country, divide people and carry our propaganda and armed rallies

I am also Hindu. We believe in the Hinduism preached by Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramhansa.

Weapons look good on Maa Durga’s hands, not yours. That is the difference between gods and humans. How can you throw the model code of conduct to the wind?
