Trinamool Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjee addresses The Panchayet Raj Sammelan, asks partyworkers to work for the development of their respective areas

Kolkata, January 19: “We will bring change in Bengal in coming days and I tell this with all conviction that I will keep my commitment. I have said it many time, I do not do commit anything if I cannot keep my word. In seven-months we have taken various initiatives and let me tell you that I know how to work”, these were the opening remarks of the Trinamool Congress Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjee was speaking at the Panchayati Raj Sammelan, organized at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata.

The Chief Minister during her short and crispy speech raised many issues and expressed her concern over the sorry-state of affairs prevailing across the states during the past 34-years of Left Front regime. “I want to tell you that till date we did not receive any money from Centre, yet we are taking initiative to develop the projects within what all resources we have”, said Ms. Banerjee who requested the party workers to work very hard and always remember that the philosophy of Maa-Mati-Manush comes first and everybody within her party should remember that they are answerable to people.

“I have taken up various projects as I believe that to work you need to perform and mere talking is not enough. I have instructed to create a job bank where we will have names of candidates registered on the website, the idea is to recruit candidates based on their qualification, sex and aptitude”, and said Ms. Banerjee who added that her government has taken up initiatives to identify 20,000 to set up rain-harvest, “I have instructed to apply rain-harvesting as then we will be able to consume a good amount of water, again this will benefit us all in long run”.

While referring to the developmental projects the Chief Minister said, “I have taken up various projects and if I start saying all the names of the projects then I will take long as I have a cabinet meeting later today and I will rush for the same. However, I have asked Industry and Commerce Minister Mr. Partha Chatterjee to go through all the pending projects that have come up during the Lead Bengal summit, I have asked him to start implementing them as we can’t loose time anymore”, added Ms. Banerjee.

Ms. Banerjee also gave instruction to her party workers on this occasion to observe the important dates and pay tribute to our leaders by organizing special programmes, “Please make it a point to observe Netaji’s birthday on January 23 across the blocks as you have successfully done in the past for Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore. Remember you all will have to make it a point to observe the birth and death anniversaries of Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, Kaji Nazrul, Jibonananda Das and Mahatma Gandhi. Don’t forget to observe Republic Day and organize interesting programmes”.

During the convention Ms. Banerjee reiterated her stand to bridge the gap between people and administration, “I want you to concentrate on work as we have no time, I also want you to regularly keep the party posted on whatever work you all do and to monitor this I have suggested a core committee which will convene meetings across the districts and will keep all the Members of Parliaments and Members of Legislative Assembly in the loop”. Ms. Banerjee said that the she was concerned about the development of minority community and to improve the situation she has instructed a minority affairs office in all the districts. Apart from that she has taken up various developmental projects for minority community including the proposal of three-more names to head minority affairs committee.
