CM gives out scholarship to Minority Community students

Kolkata, January 11: Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee attended a programme organized by the Minority Development & Finance Corporation at Netaji Indoor Stadium.
The Chief Minister distributed Rs 63.64 crore among 3.11 lakh students. This year, a total of Rs 415.49 crore will be distributed among 16.70 lakh persons. The money is being given both as scholarship and educational loans as well as assistance to small entrepreneurs engaged in self employment scheme.
The Chief Minister said that she would continue to implement welfare schemes for minorities. `On January 21, we will announce another set of schemes for the minorities, ` she said.
CM also said that she was willing to help set up academies in the names of Guru Nanak and Shaheed Bhagat Singh. `You set up academies in their name and I will give you all help. They were the leaders of our nation,` Ms. Banerjee told representatives of Sikh community present among the audience. The chief minister also declared that while her government would set up an employment bank for minorities, she would also set up six ITIs and three polytechnics for the minorities.
