Trinamool Chairperson calls for Poriborton in Tripura

During her speech at the Martyrs` Day rally on 30 January 2014, Trinamool Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjee had made it clear that Trinamool Congress was going to fight the Lok Sabha elections on a national level. She even garnered the support of veteran social activist Anna Hazare. Anna ji and Didi held a joint conference in New Delhi on February 19, where it was announced that Trinamool will contest in seats outside Bengal too.
Trinamool Chairperson had earlier said the party will be fielding candidates in many states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Assam. Likewise, the Chairperson began her Lok Sabha campaign by addressing a party meeting at Agartala today.
“We have decided to field candidates for all the two parliamentary seats in the state and have started discussion with Tripura Gramin Congress to lend support to our candidates,” Tripura AITC chairman Ratan Chakraborty said. Didi would kick start the party`s campaign for the North-East from here on February 25, Chakraborty said.
“They would arrive here by a chartered flight from Kolkata and would fly to Guwahati on the same day after addressing a rally here on February 25. The rally would take a shape of historic gathering in the state,” Chakraborty said.
The Trinamool Chairperson is slated to address another rally in Guwahati tomorrow. In March, Anna ji and Didi will address a joint rally in New Delhi.
During her speech, the Chairperson said Tripura had been neglected by the Left Front Government. From jobs to roads, the state was lagging behind in every sphere. Citing examples of development in Bengal, she said that West Bengal progressed a lot after the Left Front was voted out.
Didi added that Tripura has a special connection with Bengal and the two states can progress together. She urged people to vote for Trinamool in Lok Sabha elections, if they wanted Poriborton.
Saying that Congress-BJP-CPI(M) have formed a syndicate to sell off the country, Didi added that Trinamool was the only alternative to the current government, which is in coma.
