Ray’s last journey – Trinamool pays tribute

Led by Ms. Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress’ presence was noteworthy during the last ride of former chief minister of West Bengal, Mr. Siddhartha Shankar Ray. Mayor Sovan Chatterjee announced a memorial column at the Keoratala crematorium. Trinamool leaders Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay and Subrata Bakshi were at the Beltola address since early in the morning, overseeing the preparations. They were soon joined by other leaders including Mayor Sovan Chatterjee and some of the mayorin-council members. Union ministers Saugata Roy, Dinesh Trivedi and Sultan Ahmed were also present. Around 12.30 pm, the Trinamool chief walked into the Beltola address. Almost all the Trinamool MLAs were at the assembly. The body was also taken to the office of the Cricket Association of Bengal, Calcutta High Court, Chittaranjan Seva Sadan and Chittaranjan Shishu Sadan before heading for the crematorium with Mamata leading the procession.
