Bengal Chief Minister holds administrative meeting at Digha, says no to illegal construction on the beach
On the second day of her district visit to East Midnapore District, West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee convened a meeting with the officials of East Midnapore District Administration on Wednesday.  
During the meeting which was held at the Digha Shankarpur Development Authority (DSDA) office , the officials informed her of the illegal construction alongside of the beach causing major threat to ecology. The Chief Minister immediately instructed the administration to take every possible action against such menace since it would spoil the atmosphere in Digha and adjoining areas. Various development and beautification projects were also discussed at the meeting.   
The Chief Minister also took stock of all the projects which she had discussed during her visit to the area last year around same time when she had allocated an amount of 84-crore rupees towards the development of the region. The construction of drainage system was in progress which cost 41-crore rupees. A bypass was constructed and both sides of the beach were illuminated with trident lights. A central bus stand was also constructed in Digha.    
The visit of the Chief Minister was looked upon with great significance by the officials. Several new proposals came up for development of tourism sector in the areas like Digha, Mandarmani, Udaypur Tajpur and Shankarpur. 
The Chief Minister insisted on having more tents for the tourists which will add an attraction in beach tourism. She stressed emphasis on the development of tourism in this region and the tourists should get all the modern amenities.
