Trinamool Congress wins English Bazar by-poll in Malda. Seat held by Congress
Trinamool Congress candidate Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury won the by-election to English Bazar Assembly seat in Malda district of West Bengal defeating his nearest CPI (M) rival Kaushik Mishra.
Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury who is also the West Bengal State Tourism minister won the by-election with a margin of 20,452 votes.
The victory in English Bazar constituency is significant because this seat was held by the Congress earlier. This shows that the Trinamool Congress under the leadership of Ms. Mamata Banerjee is growing from strength to strength.
The total strength of Trinamool Congress in West Bengal increases to 186.
