Sudip Bandhyopadhyay speaks in Lok Sabha on communal violence in the country | Transcript

We are discussing today the need to evolve and effective mechanism to deal with the incidence of the  communal violence in the country. It is not the point of the debate that we will fight each other. The purpose is to evolve some mechanism so what Mr Kharge ji initiated the discussion and Adityanath ji responded up to certain extend that we should all come to the sense that we are the firm believers of the principle of secularism, communal harmony and integrity of the country. We also feel that the main ethos of India. It reflects us like integrity in diversity.

We sing song “Nana Bhasa Nana Mot Nana Poridhan, Bibidher Majhe Dekho Milon Mohan”. That means Many languages, many dresses many opinions but still we are the firm believers of the opinion that unity in diversity should be there.

Sir, what we feel that we see in our national song “Punjab O Sindhu Gujrata Maratha Dravir O Utkolo Bongo, Bindho Himacholo Jamuna Ganga, Uchholo jolodhi Torongo”. This is the spirit and we Indians, we owe our allegiance to parliamentary democratic system where every religion, every person has his right to speak his own opinion, his own thought, his own philosophy. But the discussion as it appears like that, they are speaking for the Hindus and here some are sitting for the Muslim. But the pictures are not that. It is the whole house we are fall all types of believers of cast religion and we stand for the betterment of the great country.

We feel, Sir that this is a country also where Iqubal sung “Sare Jahase Achha, Hindusthan Hamara”. “ Ye song unhone gayethe”. That is why we firmly feel that the sentiment and spirit we should try unitedly to see that this love and sense of security among our country prevails very much.

Sir, somebody is minority here. They may be majority in some other places also. If we consider the whole of the world there Christians and Muslims are the majority in large scale. In some places in our country there are minorities, minority doesn’t mean only for Muslim but Sikhs, Jains, Parsis all belong under minority section. It is the Government who are running the country primary responsibilities goes to their shoulder to see that communal violence does not take place in the country.

I hope Rajnath Singhji is very responsible person that he should as a Home Minister of the country should always try to give assurances that communal violence should not be allowed to take place in anyway. Provocations certainly create communal tension.

Sir, Bengal is known as a very secular state.  But what we are finding nowadays that some tensions are being created in some corners. I would also request the hon. Home Minister to find out that the state that which is basically prescribe to known as totally tension free state from the communal struggle, from the communal violence. Why such type of tensions are taking places at some levels which are to be stopped at the very initial level.
