Sukhendu Sekhar Ray asks a Question on the Centre’s plans for funding the rejuvenation of the Sundarbans

FULL TRANSCRIPT
Sir, the Sundarbans, attached to the Bay of Bengal in West Bengal, is a World Heritage Site. Due to successive cyclones like Aila and Amphan, the latter happening recently, a vast area of mangroves is dwindling alarmingly. The Government of West Bengal has taken up certain measures so that it can be checked but they need more funds from the Central Government, otherwise it is not possible on the part of the State Government to do it singly.
My question to the Honourable Minister is whether the Union Government is aware of the situation and whether the government is going to provide any help to West Bengal to stop the dwindling of its forest cover.
Thank you.
