Jawhar Sircar asks a Supplementary Question on whether moral science is still a subject in schools

FULL TRANSCRIPT
Sir, the Honourable Member had asked a very specific question: Is there a moral education course or not? There is a very complicated reply with a lot of information that has come in, but the question has not been answered. The first reference is to the National Curriculum Framework of 2005. As you know, that framework talks about human rights, justice, tolerance—they talk about virtues we seem to have forgotten. That is my first submission.
During that phase, the 2000s phase, certain textbooks did mention moral education but whether they are in use—because the NCERT produces a lot of books—is not stated. The Question is that, let him come up and say, [because] in the end, the question is passed on to the States, saying this is a Concurrent Subject. The question that was asked was a very pointed and a very direct one. Let him say [whether] we are having a moral education course—because moral education is a very flexible term; intolerance can also be a moral education, whatever can be—[and if so], we are doing this on the basis of such and such values in such and such places. Baad mein bhi jawab de sakte hain, aisi kya baat hai.
