To prevent wastage of water, Kolkata Municipal Corporation has decided to instal water meters inside homes and on pipes. The project has been started on a pilot basis.

Six wards in Borough I have been selected for the pilot. About 7,500 water meters have been installed. For each home, there is a meter inside the home and another on the main pipe which is supplying the home.

Through the meters, officials would have a clear idea of how much water is being used by each household and accordingly find out ways to reduce the usage. The meters would also help officials know if there is a crack through which water is spilling out.

According to KMC officials, the ideal usage of piped water per person per day should be 150 litres (l) but 450 to 550 l is being used. So obviously there is a need for conservation of water.

On November 29, Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will be introducing mobile water ATMs at six busy spots across Kolkata. They would be driven around by women from self-help groups (SHG).

The KMC would run this venture in collaboration with two NGOs. This is the latest of several KMC projects to help women become self-sufficient, another being opening a canteen, again in collaboration with an NGO.

A litre of drinking water would be available at Rs 5 and two litres at Rs 8, and a glass of water would be sold for Rs 6 from these vending systems. Each water ATM would be managed by two to three women from SHGs.

Four of the vehicles would be stationed in front of Calcutta Medical College, and Park Street, Chandni Chowk and Esplanade metro stations. The other two would roam around New Market. The civic body has aimed to launch 141 of these water-vending machines in all.

The Bengal Government wants to solve the problem of scarcity of water for agriculture in the Hills region by implementing ‘hydro water project-zero energy’ across the region.

The GTA would also soon submit certain proposals to the State Government.

The government has already allotted Rs 10 crore to make ways for distributing water for agriculture in the region. Among the measures being undertaken is the digging of ponds, which is part of the ‘Jal Dharo Jal Bharo’ scheme.

The ‘Jal Dharo Jal Bharo’ scheme is also being utilised for micro-irrigation in the Hills.

 

পাহাড়ে সেচের জলের সমস্যা মেটাতে উদ্যোগ রাজ্যের

দার্জিলিং, কালিম্পং, কার্শিয়াং সহ বিস্তীর্ণ অঞ্চল জুড়ে ‘হাইড্রোওয়াটার প্রোজেক্ট-জিরো এনার্জি’ গঠন করে পাহাড় জুড়ে সেচের জলের সমস্যা মেটাতে উদ্যোগ নিল রাজ্য সরকার। বিকল্প উপায়ে কীভাবে পাহাড়ে সেচের জল পৌঁছে দেওয়া যায় তার জন্য জিটিএ’র কাছে রাজ্যের তরফে প্রস্তাব চাওয়া হয়েছে। পাহাড়ে চাষের জল নিয়ে প্রয়োজনীয় প্রস্তাব তারা খুব শীঘ্রই রাজ্যের কাছে জমা দিতে চলেছে।

ইতিমধ্যেই চাষের জলের পর্যাপ্ত জোগানের জন্য রাজ্যের তরফে ১০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে। প্রয়োজনে তরাই অঞ্চলে যেখানে সম্ভব সেখানে ছোট করে পুকুর কেটে তার মাধমেও এলাকায় জলের যোগান বাড়াতে উদ্যোগ নিচ্ছে জলসম্পদ উন্নয়ন দপ্তর।

সম্প্রতি হুগলী জেলার প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকে জল ধরো জল ভরো প্রকল্পের খোঁজ নেওয়ার প্রসঙ্গে পাহাড়ের জলের প্রসঙ্গ তুলে ধরেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। পাহাড়ে ক্ষুদ্র সেচে জলের পর্যাপ্ত জোগানের লক্ষ্যে জল ধরো জল ভরো প্রকল্পের প্রসার নিয়ে জিটিএর সদস্যদের সঙ্গে জল সম্পদ দপ্তরের আধিকারিকদের বৈঠক করার নির্দেশ দেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

The Bengal Government has decided to set up a Rs 108-crore project in Hasnaban in North 24 Parganas district, on the Ichhamati River, with Israeli machinery, to turn brackish water into drinkable sweet water.

This project by the State Public Health Engineering Department for converting brackish water will be able to convert both river and lake water.

The North 24 Parganas district faces the problem of arsenic in ground water, and the rivers and many of the lakes in the Sundarbans region of the district record brackishness in water at 42 to 45 per cent. Hence, this converting of brackish water will provide a sustainable source of drinking water.

The government already provides drinking water piped from the Hooghly River.

 

নদী পুকুরের লোনা জলকে পানযোগ্য করার নয়া প্রকল্প রাজ্যের

লোনা জলের এলাকা তথা সুন্দরবন অঞ্চলের মানুষের জন্য লোনা জলকে মিষ্টি করার নতুন প্রকল্প রাজ্য সরকার। অত্যাধুনিক প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করার জন্য ইজরায়েল থেকে মেশিন আনানো হবে। হাসনাবাদের ইছামতী নদীতে প্রায় ১০৮ কোটি খরচ করে এই প্রকল্প তৈরী করবে রাজ্যের জনস্বাস্থ্য ও কারিগরি দপ্তর। পাশাপাশি সুন্দরবন অঞ্চলের পুকুরের লোনা জলকেও মিষ্টি করার জন্য পাইলট প্রোজেক্ট নিয়েছে সরকার। এজন্য জার্মানি থেকে অত্যাধুনিক মেশিন আনানো হয়েছে।

জনস্বাস্থ্য ও কারিগরি দপ্তর সূত্রে জানানো হয়েছে ভূগর্ভস্থ পানীয় জ্বলে আর্সেনিক ও ফ্লোরাইড থাকার সম্ভাবনা থাকে। উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা জেলায় আর্সেনিকের পরিমাণও মারাত্বক। বিকল্প পানীয় জল সরবরাহ করার জন্য গঙ্গা থেকে জল তুলে পরিস্রুত করে ব্যবহার শুরু হয়েছে অনেক আগেই। কিন্তু, সুন্দরবন অঞ্চলের নদীগুলিতে লোনার পরিমাণ প্রায় ৪২-৪৫ শতাংশ। তাই, ওইভাবে পরিস্রুত করা সম্ভব হয় নি।

হাসনাবাদ জেলায় ওই নতুন প্রকল্পের সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। ইলেকট্রিক মোটরেই এই প্রকল্প চালানো হবে। নদীর জলের পাশাপাশি সুন্দরবন অঞ্চলের পুকুরের জলকেও মিষ্টি ও পরিস্রুত করার সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। একটি বড় প্রকল্পের থেকে অনেক কম টাকা খরচ করে ছোট ছোট এলাকার জন্য এই নতুন ধরনের প্রকল্প তৈরী করা হবে।

সম্প্রতি সুন্দরবন অঞ্চলের হিঙ্গলগঞ্জের চাড়ালখালি এলাকায় স্থানীয় একটি পুকুরে জনস্বাস্থ্য ও কারিগরি দপ্তর পাইলট প্রোজেক্ট করেছে। জারামানি থেকে মেশিন আনালেও যেহেতু এটি ছোট প্রকল্প, তাই, খরচ হয়েছে ৪৪ লক্ষ টাকা। এই প্রকল্পগুলিতে সোলার প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে।

The Bengal Government has drawn up a master plan for providing arsenic-free water to all arsenic-affected, called Vision 2020, said the Public Health Engineering Minister, Subrata Mukherjee, at a recent function.

The plan has been drawn up in consultation with the Arsenic Task Force. The plan is being implemented by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department.

The State Government’s funds as well as funds from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are being used to address the issue of arsenic contamination of groundwater.

The State Government has already started implemented the master plan. Sixty one per cent of the work is complete, said the minister, and by 2020 things will improve a lot.

As a part of this, arsenic-removal units have been attached to approximately 400 tube wells by the State Government. Then, the department is extracting water from rivers through pipes and then treating it in modern treatment plants before supplying it for drinking purpose, to prevent arsenic contamination.

In places where a river remains dry during certain times of the year, the department is using submersible pumps to extract water and then purify it in treatment plants before supplying it to people for drinking.

Another step being taken by the PHE Department, according to the minister, is the setting up water ATMs at all district hospitals and institutions across the state.

The Arsenic Task Force is an advisory body set up by the State Government and comprises of experts from various academic and research institutes of Bengal and representatives of various State and Central Government departments like the Pollution Control Board, Health and Family Welfare, Surface Water Investigation, GSI, Department of Science and Technology and the referral State Government-run SSKM Hospital.

It coordinates and interacts with various sectors for the successful implementation of arsenic-removal programmes in Bengal.

There needs to be, too, strict vigilance by the law-enforcing authorities and effective mass awareness campaigns to sensitise the people regarding these arsenic-removal kits.

It has also been recommended to look at alternative sources of water for villages and districts where the arsenic level in ground water is high.

 

আর্সেনিক মুক্ত পানীয় জলের জন্য মাস্টার প্ল্যান

আর্সেনিক কবলিত অঞ্চলগুলিতে আর্সেনিক মুক্ত পানীয় জল সরবরাহ করতে মাস্টার প্ল্যান তৈরী করল রাজ্য সরকার। এই প্ল্যানের নাম দেওয়া হয়েছে ভিশন ২০২০। আর্সেনিক টাস্ক ফোর্স-এর পরামর্শে এই পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে। কাজটি করবে জনস্বাস্থ্য কারিগরী দপ্তর।

এর জন্য খরচ যোগাবে রাজ্যের তহবিল, এশিয়ান ডেভেলপমেন্ট ব্যাঙ্ক ও জিকা।

বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠান ও গবেষণাকেন্দ্রের বিশেষজ্ঞদের নিয়ে এই আর্সেনিক টাস্ক ফোর্সটি গঠন করেছে রাজ্য সরকার। এই প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলি হল, দূষণ নিয়ন্ত্রণ পর্ষদ, স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ বিভাগ, সারফেস ওয়াটার ইনভেস্টিগেশন বিভাগ, জিএসআই, বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি দপ্তর, এসএসকেএম হাসপাতাল।

ইতিমধ্যেই ভিশন ২০২০-এর ৬১ শতাংশ কাজ হয়ে গেছে। রাজ্যের প্রায় ৪০০ টিউবওয়েলে আর্সেনিক রিমুভাল কিট লাগিয়েছে সরকার। এই কীটগুলি ব্যবহারের জন্য সচেতনতার প্রসারও করবে রাজ্য সরকার।

যেসব গ্রামে জলে আর্সেনিকের মাত্রা বেশি, সেখানে ভিন্ন কোনও উৎস থেকে জল ব্যবহার করার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হচ্ছে মানুষকে।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s promise of supplying purified drinking water to Nandigram is going to come true soon.

Plans have been firmed up by the State Government to supply purified drinking water in Nandigram and three other blocks. A plant is being set up on 15 acres in Chakkamina in Nandakumar block. The water for treatment would be sourced from the Rupnarayan river.

The project would entail a cost of Rs 811 crore, for which the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is aiding the State Government.

 

নন্দীগ্রামকে পরিস্রুত পানীয় জল দিতে জলপ্রকল্প তৈরির পথে রাজ্য

জমিরক্ষার আন্দোলনের পীঠস্থান নন্দীগ্রামের মানুষকে পরিস্রুত পানীয় জল খাওয়াবেন বলে প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এবার সেই প্রতিশ্রুতির বাস্তব রূপায়ণের পথে রাজ্য সরকার।

নন্দীগ্রামের দুটি ব্লক, চণ্ডীপুর ও নন্দকুমার ব্লকের মানুষকে পরিস্রুত পানীয় জল দেওয়ার জন্য জলপ্রকল্প তৈরির পরিকল্পনা নেওয়া হয়েছে। সেই প্রকল্পের জন্য খরচ ধরা হয়েছে ৮১১ কোটি টাকা। সেই টাকা সহজ শর্তে এশিয়ান ডেভেলপমেন্ট ব্যাংক থেকে ঋণ নিচ্ছে রাজ্য সরকার।

নন্দীগ্রামের মানুষকে পরিস্রুত পানীয় জল সরবরাহের জন্য প্রকল্প তৈরি করার নির্দেশ দেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সেই মতো একটি পরিকল্পনা করা হয়। ঠিক হয়, রূপনারায়ণ নদী থেকে জল তুলে ট্রিটমেন্ট প্ল্যান্টে পরিশোধন করে তা বাড়ি বাড়ি পৌঁছে দেওয়া হবে।

The Bengal Government is going to start drinking water projects in four districts of the state at a cost of Rs 241 crore.

The projects would be set up in Howrah, in Jangipur in Murshidabad, in Krishnanagar in Nadia district and in Bansberia in Hooghly district. They would involve not only the collecting and purifying of water to make it fit for drinking but also the construction of pipelines to supply to homes.

The project in Howrah would involve purifying 20 million gallons per day (MGD), taken from the Ganga. The project will cost Rs 70 crore.

The Jangipur project is a 28 MGD project, costing Rs 81 crore, the one in Krishnanagar is a 35 MGD project while the Bansberia project is a 23 MGD project, costing Rs 75 crore.

After the completion of the projects, these places will no longer face any issue with the supply of drinking water.

The process of issuing e-tenders would start soon.

 

২৪১ কোটি টাকায় চার জেলায় জলপ্রকল্প

 

চারটি জলপ্রকল্প অনুমোদন করল মুখ্যসচিবের নেতৃত্বাধীন কমিটি। ২৪১ কোটি টাকা খরচ করে ওই জল প্রকল্প তৈরি হবে বলে পুরমন্ত্রী ফিরহাদ হাকিম জানিয়েছেন। শুক্রবার এক সাংবাদিক বৈঠকে তিনি বলেন, হাওড়া, জঙ্গিপুর, কৃষ্ণনগর এবং বাঁশবেড়িয়ায় ওই জলপ্রকল্পগুলি হবে।

হাওড়ায় ৭০ কোটি টাকা খরচ করে ২০ মিলিয়ন গ্যালন ক্ষমতা সম্পন্ন ওই জলপ্রকল্প তৈরি হবে। গঙ্গা থেকে জল তুলে তা পরিশোধন করে সরবরাহ করা হবে। তাহলে হাওড়ায় আর জলের সমস্যা থাকবে না। জঙ্গিপুরে ৮১ কোটি টাকা খরচ করে ২৮ মিলিয়ন গ্যালন ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন জলপ্রকল্প হবে। পরিস্রুত পানীয় জল বাড়ি বাড়ি পৌঁছে দেওয়া হবে। কৃষ্ণনগরে আগের একটি জলপ্রকল্প রয়েছে। চাহিদা মেটাতে আরও ৩৫ মিলিয়ন গ্যালন ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন জলপ্রকল্প করা হবে। এই প্রকল্প হয়ে গেলে কৃষ্ণনগরের আর জলের অভাব হবে না। বাঁশবেড়িয়ায় ৭৫ কোটি টাকা খরচ করে ২৩ মিলিয়ন গ্যালন ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন জলপ্রকল্প তৈরি করা হবে। এখানে জল উত্তোলনের ক্ষেত্রে কিছু সমস্যা ছিল।

এই চারটি প্রকল্পের পুরো টাকাই খরচ করবে রাজ্য সরকার। এ ধরনের বড় প্রকল্প অনুমোদনের আগে মুখ্যসচিবের নেতৃত্বে একটি কমিটি তৈরি করে দিয়েছিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। সেই কমিটির সামনে ওই চারটি প্রকল্পের পাওয়ার পয়েন্ট প্রেজেন্টেশন করা হয়। তা দেখে অনুমোদন করে ওই কমিটি। এবার ই-টেন্ডার ডেকে কাজ শুরুর প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হবে।

শুধু জলপ্রকল্প তৈরি নয়, বাড়ি বাড়ি জল পৌঁছে দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনাও এই প্রকল্পের মধ্যে রয়েছে। সম্প্রতি পানিহাটি পুরসভায় এই ধরনের সমস্যা দেখা দিয়েছে। জলপ্রকল্প তৈরি করেছে কেএমডিএ আর বাড়ি বাড়ি পৌঁছে দেওয়ার দায়িত্ব ছিল পুরসভার। কিন্তু পুরানো পাইপের সঙ্গে নতুন পাইপের খাপ না খাওয়ায় সমস্যা দেখা দিয়েছে। পুরমন্ত্রী বলেন, সেই শিক্ষা থেকেই জলের প্ল্যান্ট তৈরির সঙ্গে সঙ্গে বাড়ি বাড়ি পৌঁছে দেওয়ার কাজও ওই প্রকল্পের মধ্যে রাখা হয়েছে।

In a bid to ensure sufficient supply of drinking water in major parts of Basirhat and Bongaon in North 24-Parganas, the state government is planning to engage an international firm that will set up water treatment plants to produce potable water from salt water.

Subrata Mukherjee, minister, state Public Health Engineering department, said: “There is a necessity to take steps to ensure sufficient supply of potable water in areas including Basirhat, Taki, Hingalganj and Bongaon. There is no scarcity of salty water in the area. But they need to be recycled to potable condition so that they can be supplied to the people.”

Lakhs of people will be benefitted as there would be no shortage of water with setting up of the treatment plants. At the same time, the state government has taken initiative to ensure sufficient supply of drinking water in Bankura and Purulia. Water is supplied in half of the Bankura district from the Damodar River.

Initiatives have been taken to ensure supply of safe drinking water in the remaining parts of the district. ADB is funding the project for Bankura district. Quite a similar project has been taken up for Purulia district to ensure that scarcity of potable water becomes a thing of the past in the district. Japan International Cooperation Agency is funding the project in Purulia.

With implementation of the projects, people of the area would not have to face any trouble due to short supply of water.

 

গ্রামীণ এলাকায় জলের কষ্ট মেটাতে উদ্যোগী রাজ্য

উত্তর ২৪ পরগনার বসিরহাট ও বনগাঁ এলাকায় জলের কষ্ট মেটাতে উদ্যোগী হল রাজ্য সরকার।

পঞ্চায়েত ও গ্রামোন্নয়ন মন্ত্রী সুব্রত বাবু বলেন, সুন্দরবন এলাকার পানীয় জল সমস্যা চিরদিনের। সেই সমস্যা দূর করতে পরিকল্পিতভাবে এগোচ্ছে রাজ্য। বসিরহাট এলাকায় বিশেষ প্রকল্প নেওয়া হবে। এখানে জলে ৪০ শতাংশ লবণ রয়েছে। সেই জল শোধন করে মানুষকে দেওয়া হবে। এডিবি আর্থিক সাহায্য করবে। হিঙ্গলগঞ্জ, টাকি, হাসনাবাদ নিজে গিয়েছি, সমস্যা বুঝেছি। একটি বিদেশী সংস্থা এই ধরনের প্রকল্প গড়ে। ওই সংস্থার সাহায্য নেওয়া হবে।

মন্ত্রী বলেন, পুরুলিয়া ও বাঁকুড়ার মত রুখাশুখা এলাকার জন্যও জলপ্রকল্প নেওয়া হচ্ছে। বাঁকুড়ার একটি অংশে জল দিচ্ছে ডিভিসি। বাকি অংশের জন্য এক হাজার কোটি টাকা পাওয়া যাচ্ছে এশিয়ান ডেভেলপমেন্ট ব্যাঙ্ক থেকে। পুরুলিয়ার জন্য সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়েছে জাইকা। রাজ্যে ৮৩টি ব্লক আর্সেনিক, ফ্লোরাইড প্রবণ। সেই সমস্যাও মিটিয়ে ফেলা হচ্ছে। কাজ চলছে।

নদীয়া ও উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা জেলার সর্বত্র জলদি পাইপলাইনের কাজ শেষ হয়ে যাবে বলে দাবি করেন তিনি।

Come 2020, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation will introduce a 24X 7 water supply for the citizens.

This was announced on Wednesday after a marathon meeting between the Asian Development Bank officials and a KMC delegation led by city mayor Sovan Chatterjee.

The ADB officials from Manila are currently touring the city with a view to study city’s water supply infrastructure. KMC would take all measures to ensure that the water distribution network is strengthened to meet the 2020 deadline.

The KMC also has plans to map the city’s water distribution network. The digitized mapping will be stored in a centralized server to help it locate vulnerable points and plug the loopholes.

 

২০২০ থেকে ২৪ ঘন্টা জল সরবরাহ করবে কলকাতা পুরসভা

কলকাতার নাগরিকদের জন্য সুসংবাদ – আগামী ২০২০ সাল থেকে ২৪ ঘন্টা জল সরবরাহ করবে কলকাতা পুরসভা।

গত বুধবার মাননীয় মেয়র শোভন চ্যাটার্জীর উপস্থিতিতে এশিয়ান ডেভেলপমেন্ট ব্যাংকের এক প্রতিনিধিদল বৈঠক করেন পুরসভার কর্তাদের সাথে। সেখানেই এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়।

আপাতত ওই ব্যাংকের আধিকারিকরা কলকাতার বিভিন্ন অঞ্চল ঘুরে জল সরবরাহের পরিকাঠামো খতিয়ে দেখছেন। ২০২০ সালের মধ্যে যাবতীয় পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নের কাজ শেষ হয়ে যাবে, জানিয়েছে পুরসভা।

কলকাতা পুরসভা এর পর কলকাতা শহরের জল সরবরাহের একটি মানচিত্র তৈরী করবে বলে জানিয়েছে। এই ডিজিটাল মানচিত্রটি তৈরী হলে তা একটি সেন্ট্রাল সার্ভারে রাখা হবে যাতে যে কোনও সময় যে কোনও ত্রুটি খুব অল্প সময়ে সরিয়ে ফেলা যায়।

Five projects under the Irrigation & Waterways Department were inaugurated: a concrete bridge over Tolly Nullah (Adi Ganga), beautification of both sides of Keshtopur Canal adjoining VIP Road, dredging of Tolly Nullah from Garia station to Shamukpota, construction of another pump house in Sonarpur and construction of concrete bridges over storm water and drain water channels in Ghunimeghi mouza, the last three being in South 24-Parganas district.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also inaugurated a 100 MGD (millions of gallons per day) drinking water supply project. The first phase of the project is of 20 MGD capacity, for supplying water in New Town. The rest would cover the civic areas of Bidhannagar, Nabadiganta Township, South Dum Dum and Haroa.

Along with these, some major healthcare projects were inaugurated, too. Superspeciality hospitals in Bolpur and Metiabruj are part of the grand project of 41 superspeciality hospitals in the State. The other projects inaugurated were: critical care unit (CCU) at NRS Medical College and Hospital, dialysis unit at Bishnupur District Hospital, and digital X-Ray units at Gangarampur Subdivisional Hospital, Sagar Dutta Medical College and Hospital and RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

 

নিউটাউনে সেচ ব্যবস্থা, জল সরবরাহ এবং স্বাস্থ্যবিভাগের বেশ কিছু প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আজ নিউটাউনে সেচ ব্যবস্থা, জল সরবরাহ এবং স্বাস্থ্যবিভাগের বেশ কিছু প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করলেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

সেচ ও জলপথ বিভাগের ৫ টি প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন হল এদিন। গৃহীত প্রকল্পগুলি হল কালীঘাট মন্দিরের নিকট আদি গঙ্গার (টালি নালা) উপরে পারাপারের পাকা সেতু নির্মাণ, ভি.আই.পি রোড সংলগ্ন কেষ্টপুর খালের উভয় পাড় সৌন্দর্যায়ন, দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার গড়িয়া স্টেশন থেকে শামুকপোতা পর্যন্ত আদি গঙ্গার (টালি নালা) ১৩ কিমি দৈর্ঘ্যে ও বিদ্যাধরী খালের ১২ কিমি দৈর্ঘ্যে পুনঃখনন, সোনারপুরে পাম্প হাউস নির্মাণ, ভাঙ্গর থানার ঘুনিমেঘি মৌজায় এস.ডব্লিউ.এফ ও ডি.ডব্লিউ.এফ চ্যানেলের ওপর পাকা সেতু নির্মাণ।

নিউটাউনে ১০০ MGD ভূ-পৃষ্ঠ জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্প উদ্বোধন করলেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। প্রথম পর্যায়ে ২০ MGD জল সরবরাহ করবে নিউ টাউনে, দ্বিতীয় পর্যায়ে ৮০ MGD জল সরবরাহ করবে বিধাননগর, নবদিগন্ত, দক্ষিণ দমদম এবং হাড়োয়া এলাকায়।

এর সঙ্গে কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ স্বাস্থ্য প্রকল্পেরও উদ্বোধন হল। এগুলি হল – বোলপুর এবং মেটিয়াবুরুজ সুপার স্পেশালিটি হাসপাতাল, এন.আর.এস মেডিক্যাল কলেজ ও হাসপাতালের ক্রিটিক্যাল ইউনিট, বিষ্ণুপুর জেলা হাসপাতালের ডায়ালিসিস ইউনিট, গঙ্গারাম মহকুমা হাসপাতাল, সাগর দত্ত মেডিক্যাল কলেজ ও হাসপাতাল, আর.জি.কর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ ও হাসপাতালের ডিজিটাল এক্স-রে।
