Seven books penned by Mamata Banerjee released at Kolkata International Book Fair today. The book fair has entered its 43rd year this year.
One of the seven books written by her contains shayaris written in Urdu. Among the others, two books contain essays and two are books on poetry.
Her books have been bestsellers in previous years, and this year too it is hoped that her books will become bestsellers.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurates the 43rd International Kolkata Book Fair (IKBF) today at Central Park, Salt Lake. This year the Book Fair is being held from January 31 to February 11.
Among other distinguished guests at the inauguration was Euda Morales, an eminent author from Guatemala, as the Central American nation is the theme country this year. There will be books in 24 local languages of Guatemala.
The sixth edition of the Kolkata Literature Festival is also going to be held for a few days of the fair at the same venue. Distinguished writers, poets, directors, historians and other personalities from various fields will grace the occasion.
The focus tribe this year is Lepcha, and February 2 will be celebrated as Lepcha Day. From this year, the organisers of the IKBF have decided to showcase the literature and culture of one scheduled tribe every year.
There will be more than 600 book stalls and about 200 little magazine stalls.

The book fair is very close to our heart. It is a lifeline for those who love books a lot.
This is the age of social media. There’s internet, Facebook, Twitter and other mediums where people write poetry or other essays.
Books are irreplaceable. Books are our stepping stone to learning and discovering new literature.
It would not be an exaggeration if I say Kolkata Book Fair is the best book fair in the world. This is nothing short of a festival.
Last year 2.2 million people visited the book fair. I hope the book fair becomes bigger and bigger in future.
Bangla celebrates all festivals with equal fervour. Durga Puja is celebrated in a grand manner. Christmas is celebrated across the world, but the celebrations in Bangla are on a different level.
This year, seven of my books have been published. One of them is political, titled ‘Biponno Bharat’. Other books are for children and poetry. Till date 87 of my books have been published. By next year, I will try to complete a century.
We have lost several icons this year. I remember sharing the stage with Nirendranath Chakraborty the year before last. Dwijen Da is also no more.
Do not allow any ‘dushtu’ people to spoil the magic of and charm of the ‘mishti’ book fair.

This year, the State Transport Department has taken a novel approach towards the International Kolkata Book Fair – organising a Book Fair-centred package tour.
The South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) is responsible for the project. This project was taken up following the success of the Durga Puja package tours, which start right from the day of Mahalaya.
This year the Book Fair is being held from January 31 to February 11. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be inaugurating the fair today. A literary festival, the Kolkata Literature Festival, is also going to be held for a few days of the fair at the same venue.
Like every year, this year too the Transport Department is organising special buses for the hundreds of thousands of people who will be visiting the fair in Salt Lake, among whom are foreign tourists too.
Last year, 120 buses had been arranged. This year that number has gone up to 190. There are both non-AC and AC buses, and government as well as private buses.
Buses will be running between Salt Lake and Dharmatala, Howrah, Sealdah, Santragachi, Bali Rajchandrapur, Thakurpukur, Parnashree, Garia, Kamalgazi, Baruipur, Barasat, Dum Dum and a few other places.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the 42nd Kolkata International Book Fair today. The focal theme country for 2018 is France.
This is for the first time that the fair will be held at Central Park in Salt Lake.
The state Transport department will run 131 additional buses on weekdays and 177 buses on weekends to facilitate the visitors, particularly those who come from the districts by train and get down at either Howrah or Sealdah railway stations.
France Day will be observed on January 31, followed by Bangladesh Day on February 3, where some Russian authors will interact with Bengali authors.
This will be followed by Children’s Day on February 4. The Kolkata literature festival will be held from February 8 to 10.
Well known publishers from the country and abroad are taking part in the fair along with their local counterparts. One of the major attractions are five books penned by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, including a book on rhymes for children.

Today, I was present in the inauguration ceremony of 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair at Central Park, Salt Lake.
From 31st January to 11th February, 2018, it is going to be the usual celebration with books here in this great event in Kolkata.
Soumitra Chatterjee was felicitated in today’s programme for his outstanding contribution to the world of creativity.
This year, the theme country is France. Mr Alexander Ziegler, HE Ambassador of France was present on the occasion.
I also inaugurated stalls of Kolkata Police, West Bengal Police and “Jago Bangla”.
9 books authored by me, including 2 translated versions in Santali and Hindi of my earlier works, have been published today from the book fair. With these, the number of books authored by me during the spare time I can manage goes up to 79.
The next Kolkata Book Fair will be inaugurated on 19th January, 2019.

বিধাননগর সেন্ট্রাল পার্কে ৪২তম আন্তর্জাতিক কলকাতা বইমেলার উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি। বইমেলা চলবে ১১ ফেব্রুয়ারি পর্যন্ত। উপস্থিত ছিলেন ফরাসি রাষ্ট্রদূত আলেকজান্ডার জেইগলার এবং অভিনেতা সৌমিত্র চট্টোপাধ্যায় সহ অন্যান্য বিশিষ্টজনেরা।
মেলা–প্রাঙ্গণে আলোকস্তম্ভ, ওয়াচ টাওয়ার লাগানো হয়েছে। বসেছে পথ–নির্দেশিকাও। মেলা–চত্বরে এবারও জনস্বাস্থ্য কারিগরি দপ্তরের উদ্যোগে থাকছে পাউচে পানীয় জলের ব্যবস্থা।বইমেলায় আসা বইপ্রেমীদের নিরাপত্তায় বেশ কিছু পদক্ষেপ করেছে বিধাননগর পুলিস। মানুষের যাতায়াতে ও মেলা–প্রাঙ্গণের ভেতরে–বাইরে যাতে অসুবিধে না হয়, তার জন্য নানা ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে। গাড়ি কোথায় পার্কিং করা যাবে? সেখানে জায়গা আছে কি? জেনে নেওয়া যাবে বিধাননগর পুরসভার নতুন অ্যাপ ‘IKBF-BMC Car Park’ থেকে।
এই প্রথম শিশুদের নিরাপত্তায় বিশেষ ব্যবস্থা থাকছে। কোনও শিশু হারিয়ে গেলে দ্রুত যাতে তার অভিভাবকের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা যায়, তার জন্য থাকছে ‘চিলড্রেন কার্ড’। সেখানে শিশুর নাম, বয়স, অভিভাবকের নাম, তাঁর সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক এবং ফোন নম্বর লেখার জায়গা থাকবে। বইমেলায় ঢুকেই ওই কার্ড নিয়ে, পূরণ করে শিশুর পকেটে রেখে দিতে হবে।
নিরাপত্তা–নজরদারিতে বইমেলাকে ৪টি ‘জোনে’ ভাগ করা হয়েছে। ৮টি ওয়াচ টাওয়ার, সিসিটিভি–র মাধ্যমেও নজরদারি চলবে। ব্যাগ পরীক্ষা করা হবে। অস্ত্র নিয়ে ঢোকা যাবে না। মেলায় কোথায় কোন্ স্টল রয়েছে তা জেনে নেওয়া যাবে ‘International Kolkata Book Fair 2018’ অ্যাপ থেকে। ‘বইমেলা স্পেশ্যাল’ বাস পাওয়া যাবে ৯ নম্বর ট্যাঙ্কের কাছে খোলা জায়গা থেকে।বইমেলার দিনগুলোয় পরিবহণ দপ্তরের তরফে অতিরিক্ত ২০০টি সরকারি এসি, নন-এসি বাস চালানো হবে।

The Focal Theme being Costa Rica this year, eminent Costa Rican litterateur Roxana Pinto López inaugurated this year’s edition.

বইপ্রেমী বাঙ্গালির সারা বছরের অন্যতম মুখ্য আকর্ষণ বইমেলা। আজ থেকে মিলন মেলা প্রাঙ্গনে শুরু হল ৪১তম কলকাতা পুস্তক মেলা।
অন্যান্য বছরের মতো এবছরও বেশ কিছু পুস্তকের ভাণ্ডার নিয়ে পাঠকদের কাছে উপস্থিত থাকবেন স্বয়ং মুখ্যমন্ত্রী নিজেই। নোটবাতিলের ফলে মানুষের চরম দুর্গতির বিরুদ্ধে তিনি লিখেছেন “Note কথা’, ২০০৬ থেকে চলতে থাকা সিঙ্গুর আন্দোলন থেকে ৩১শে আগস্ট ঐতিহাসিক সিঙ্গুর রায়ের কথা লিখেছেন তার লেখা “সিঙ্গুর জয়ী” বইটিতে। কুতসার বিরুদ্ধে মানুষের রায়ে দ্বিতীয়বার সরকার গঠনের কথা আছে তার “মানুষের জয় ২০১৬” বইটিতে, সঙ্গে থাকছে একগুচ্ছ কবিতা সম্বলিত “ব্যাক্তিত্ব” নামক বইটি। এছাড়া আরও দুটি কবিতার বই প্রকাশিত হবে ‘নামাঞ্জলি- ২’ এবং ‘খুশবু’ (উর্দু ভাষার)।
এবারের বইমেলার থিম ‘কোস্তারিকা’। উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিশিষ্ট কোস্তারিকান সাহিত্যিক রোক্সানা পিন্তো লোপেজ। মেলা চলবে আগামী ৫ই ফেব্রুয়ারি পর্যন্ত।
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said landowners in Singur will get possession of land after Durga Puja festival.
“After Puja all land owners will get their land back. It will be fit for agriculture,” Chief Minister said after an administrative review meeting here in Hooghly district.
She said she was happy to be part of the fight of farmers who were getting back their land.
1,768 land owners have so far taken cheques from the government while 10,747 ‘parchas’ (land deeds) have been given so far, Partha Chatterjee said.
পুজোর পর সিঙ্গুরের জমি চাষযোগ্য করে কৃষকদের ফিরিয়ে দেওয়া হবে। বৃহস্পতিবার চূচূঁড়া ময়দানে এক সভায় একথা জানিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি।
হুগলি জেলা প্রশাসনের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন, ২১ অক্টোবরের মধ্যে সিঙ্গুরের জমি চাষের উপযুক্ত করে তুলতে হবে। এই লক্ষ্যমাত্রা সামনে রেখে সব দপ্তরকেই কাজ জোরদার করতে হবে।
‘রাজনৈতিক স্থিরতা মানেই উন্নয়নে গতিশীলতা। আর সবাই ভাল না থাকলে আমি ভাল থাকি না’, বলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। সিঙ্গুর প্রসঙ্গ টেনে বলেন, সিঙ্গুরের মানুষ জমি ফিরে পেয়েছেন। তাঁরা পরচা পেয়েছেন, চেকও দেওয়া হয়েছে। পুজোর পরে জমিও ফিরিয়ে দেওয়া হবে। সেখানে তাঁরা চাষ শুরু করতে পারবেন।
The historic Singur Andolan will now be chronicled in a book which has been written by none other than Mamata Banerjee, who had been at the helm of the mass movement. The movement had lent a voice to millions of the farmers and working-class people who have been fighting for their rights.
At the Singur Diwas rally, Mamata Banerjee said that she has already started penning a book on Singur.
It was the Singur Land Movement that started a nationwide debate on the draconian 1894 land acquisition act and finally forced the Centre to draft a new legislation.
The new book, which is expected to be released at the Kolkata International Book Fair 2017, will feature the leader’s experiences and thoughts relating to the Singur Movement.
Mamata Banerjee has so far authored 63 books, including ten in English, all of which have been bestsellers.
সিঙ্গুরের ১০ বছরের ঐতিহাসিক আন্দোলন এবার নথিভুক্ত হবে বইয়ের পাতায়। মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় কৃষক ও শ্রমিদের অধিকার রক্ষার লড়াইয়ের বৃহত্তর আন্দোলন নিয়ে বই লিখবেন।
সিঙ্গুর দিবসের সভা থেকে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ঘোষণা করেন যে, ইতিমধ্যেই সিঙ্গুরের আন্দোলন নিয়ে তিনি একটি বই লিখছেন।
এটি সিঙ্গুরের সেই জমি আন্দোলন, ১৮৯৪ সালের ভূমি অধিগ্রহণ আইন যা নিয়ে দেশব্যাপী বিতর্ক শুরু হয়েছিল এবং পরিশেষে কেন্দ্র একটি নতুন আইন প্রণয়ন করতে বাধ্য করেছিল।
২০১৭ সালের আন্তর্জাতিক কলকাতা বইমেলায় যে নতুন বইটি মুক্তি পাবে বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে তা সিঙ্গুর আন্দোলন নিয়েই রচিত হবে।
এর আগে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের লেখা ৬৩টি বই (এর মধ্যে ১০টি ইংরেজি) ইতিমধ্যেই জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করেছে।
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the 40th International Kolkata Book Fair (IKBF) at the Milan Mela fairground.
The world’s largest non-trade book fair would open to the public on January 26, and would run till February 7, 2016. It would remain open from 12 pm to 8 pm every day.
Entry to the Kolkata Book Fair is free for everyone, a benefit extended by Mamata Banerjee after she became the Chief Minister.
Every year, the book fair has a theme country. This year the Focal Theme Country is Bolivia. Vietnam is the Guest of Honour Country. As 2016 signifies 60 years of diplomatic relationship between India and Spain, it will be celebrated by a special appearance by Spain too.
The 40th International Kolkata Book Fair will have a Literature Festival in February where authors from across the world will participate.

পৃথিবীর বৃহত্তম অবানিজ্যিক এই বইমেলা ২৬শে জানুয়ারী থেকে ৭ই ফেব্রুয়ারী অবধি খোলা থাকবে; সময়: দুপুর ১২টা থেকে রাত ৮টা। সাধারণ মানুষ বিনামূল্যে মেলা প্রাঙ্গনে ঢুকতে পারবেন। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হওয়ার পর মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ই বিনামূল্যে প্রবেশের ব্যবস্থা করেন।
এবারে বইমেলার থিম দেশ হল বলিভিয়া। বিশেষ অতিথি দেশ হিসেবে উপস্থিত ভিয়েতনাম। ভারত ও স্পেনের কুটনৈতিক সম্পর্কের ৬০বছর উদযাপন করতে এবছর স্পেনও মেলার কেন্দ্রবিন্দুতে থাকবে।
ফেব্রুয়ারী মাসে বইমেলায় অনুষ্ঠিত হবে সাহিত্য উত্সব। সেখানে দেশ-বিদেশের বিশিষ্ট সাহিত্যিকরা উপস্থিত থাকবেন।

WB CM Ms Mamata Banerjee’s books have struck a popular chord with book lovers at the 39th Kolkata International Book Fair.
A regular writer and a poet, Ms Banerjee started writing in 1995 and has written 53 books so far. This year 7 books penned by her were released by British journalist Anita Anand at the Book Fair.
The books are at display at the Jago Bangla stall which has been modelled around theme of communal harmony. That apart, her books are available in several other stalls.
The seven books penned by Mamata Banerjee are, ‘Kotha’, ‘Bikel ta hariye geche’, ‘Kothanjwali’, ‘Jivan Sangram’, ‘Tumi’, and an Urdu book called ‘Tamanna’. An English compilation of her works, “Best of Mamata” has also been released.
The 39th International Book Fair which was inaugurated on the 27 January is buzzing with book enthusiasts.
This year Jago Bangla – the official party mouthpiece – has been depicted through a stall which has been modeled around theme communal harmony. The figures at the entrance of the stall depict a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian showcasing unity in diversity and the motto the party firmly believes in.
Dola Sen, West Bengal State President of the Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress, said “Our Leader Mamata Banerjee has an open mind and heart. TMC is also an open platform. Like Mamata Banerjee our party accommodates people from different castes and creeds. Our country is now in crisis because of BJP, but our culture here is university in diversity. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian all stand in communal harmony here and our stand is anti-communalism.”
“Mamata Banerjee has come up with this special theme of Dhamsha Madol, Ektara and Veena and the entire stall has been made using old recycled Jago Bangla newsletters keeping in mind the environment” she added.
The Biswa Bangla stall of the West Bengal Government was also thronged by people.
This year seven books by Mamata Banerjee were released at the Book Fair, taking the total number of books written by her to 53.
