Ahare Bangla, the annual food festival organised by Bangla Government, is going to be organised from November 20 to 25 at the Newtwn Mela Ground.

The ‘Bangiyo Khadya Utsav’, or ‘Bengali Food Festival’, as the official byline of the festival goes, becomes a magnet for gourmets form across Kolkata and its suburbs for these few days.

The week-long food extravaganza also has an Android app of its own.

Food will be served from 6 PM to 9 PM on November 20, and from 12 noon to 9 PM from November 21 to 25. Lunch will be from 12 noon to 3 PM, snacks from 3 PM to 6 PM and dinner from 6 PM to 9 PM.

Organised by the Bengal Government’s Animal Resources Development, Ahare Bangla has become immensely popular over the years. This year more people are expected, and so the festival is being organised in an area having a dining capacity of approximately 800 people at a time.

Another crucial fact about the festival is that the restaurateurs have to source their ingredients from government organisations (as selected by the festival authority). This is part of the State Government’s efforts to promote its various wings.

The food festival organised by Bengal Government, Ahare Bangla, has begun yesterday. This festival will continue till December 11 at Newtown Fair Grounds (from 12-9 PM).

The festival has already generated a lot of excitement among people. Various restaurants from Kolkata, as well as organisations from districts, have set up stalls here. There are representatives from Japan, China and Russia too.

Cooking contests and cookery shows are being held at the food festival every day. The finale of the cooking competition will be held on December 11. Arrangements have been made for cultural functions too.

There will be a B2B conclave at the food festival on December 11.

 

জমে উঠেছে আহারে বাংলা ২০১৭

বঙ্গীয় খাদ্য উৎসব, যার পোশাকি নাম আহারে বাংলা, শুরু হয়েছে গতকাল। চলবে আগামী সোমবার (১১ই ডিসেম্বর) রোজ বেলা ১২টা থেকে রাট ৯টা অবধি চলবে এই মেলা।

ইতিমধ্যেই জমে উঠেছে খাদ্য উৎসব। কলকাতার নামীদামী রেস্তোরাঁর পাশাপাশি সারা রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন সংগঠন ষ্টল দিয়েছেন এই মেলায়। রয়েছেন জাপান, চীন ও রাশিয়ার প্রতিনিধিরাও।

প্রতিদিন থাকছে রান্নার শো এবং রান্নার প্রতিযোগিতা। এই প্রতিযোগিতার ফাইনাল হবে ১১ তারিখ। প্রতিদিন থাকবে স্বনামধন্য শিল্পীদের দ্বারা সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান। ১১ তারিখ অনুষ্ঠিত হবে একটি বাণিজ্যিক বৈঠক।

‘Ahare Bangla’ food festival to begin today

The food festival of Bengal Government ‘Ahare Bangla’ is going to start from December 8 and continue till December 11. People can visit the festival on all the days between 12 noon to 9 PM. The inauguration of the festival will be held on December 7 evening.

Representatives from four foreign countries will be participating in ‘Ahare Bangla’ this year, which starts from December 8 at New Town Mela Ground. Representatives from China, Japan, Russia and Nepal will be present at the food festival to give the residents of city of joy a taste of their cuisine.

There will be enough space in the mela ground where an arrangement for more than 2000 people will be made.

‘Ahare Bangla’ is the brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It may be recalled that in 2016 there was a staggering footfall of 1.5 lakh people in just five days at the annual food festival, while it was around 65,000 in 2015.

 

‘আহারে বাংলা’ খাদ্য উৎসবের উদ্বোধন আজ

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের আয়োজিত বঙ্গীয় খাদ্য উৎসব ‘আহারে বাংলার’ উদ্বোধন হবে আজ। কাল থেকে সাধারণ মানুষের জন্য খুলে দেওয়া হবে উৎসব প্রাঙ্গন। ৮ই ডিসেম্বর থেকে ১১ই ডিসেম্বর অবধি নিউটাউন মেলা প্রাঙ্গনে চলবে এই খাদ্য উৎসব। রোজ দুপুর বারোটা থেকে রাত ৯টা অবধি চলবে ‘আহারে বাংলা’ খাদ্য উৎসব।

এবারের খাদ্য উৎসবে চীন, জাপান, রাশিয়া, নেপাল সহ নানা দেশের প্রতিনিধিরা অংশগ্রহণ করবেন। উৎসব প্রাঙ্গনে একসাথে ২০০০ লোকের জন্য জায়গার ব্যবস্থা থাকবে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের মস্তিস্কপ্রসূত এই খাদ্য উৎসব শুরু হয় ২০১৫ সালে। এবছর ৬৫০০০ লোক এই মেলায় এসেছিলেন। ২০১৬ সালে ‘আহারে বাংলা’ তে হয় বিপুল জনসমাগম। ১.৫ লক্ষেরও বেশি মানুষ রসনাতৃপ্তির জন্য এই খাদ্য উৎসবে এসেছিলেন।

Over the last few years, the annual food festival, Ahare Bangla at the Milan Mela fairground has become very popular. This annual fair held at the beginning of winter has drawn droves of food-lovers to taste some wonderful delicacies.

And not just selling food, the fair has also enabled businesses to explore new avenues and has thus, generated employment opportunities. Using their massive sales at Ahare Bangla as a plank, quite a few hotels and restaurants have been able to establish bases outside Bengal.

The State Animal Husbandry Department, which organises the fair, is busy now making preparations for holding the fair. That it has been an unqualified success is apparent from another fact: the department’s budget for the fair has jumped from Rs 75 lakh in 2015 to Rs 2.24 crore in 2017. This year, along with Animal Husbandry, the departments of Fisheries, Agriculture Marketing, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), along with five others, are lending a helping hand in the organising of the food festival.

Last year, sales at the five-day long fair had crossed Rs 2 crore. This year, officials of the department are confident that the number will rise by a few times.

Last year, well-established restaurants and hotels from Russia, China, Japan and Bangladesh had taken part and were very happy with the response. This year too, quite a few countries would be represented. And of course, the best of Bengal is represented – be it food or restaurants.

শীতের আগে মহানগর মাতাবে আহারে বাংলা

খেয়ে খাইয়ে তুষ্টি, আবার কর্মসংস্থান ও ব্যবসা সম্প্রসারণের সুবর্ণ সুযোগ। দুয়ের জব্বর মেলবন্ধন করেছে আহারে বাংলা। রাজ্য সরকারের প্রাণী সম্পদ উন্নয়ন দপ্তরের সাড়া জাগানো পেটপুজো পার্বণ।

গত দু’বছর যাবত শীতের মুখে কলকাতায় পসরা সাজাচ্ছে আহারে বাংলা। দু’বছর আগে এই উদ্যোগের সূচনা কালে তার বাজেট ছিল ৭৫ লাখ টাকা। দু’বছর বাদে তাই বেড়ে গিয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ২ কোটি ২৪ লাখ টাকায়। গত বছর পাঁচ দিনের এই উৎসব বিকিকিনির বহর ২ কোটি টাকা ছাপিয়ে গেছিল। শুধু কদিনের মারকাটারি বিপণন নয়। আহারে বাংলার দীর্ঘমেয়াদি সুফলও বুঝতে পারা যাচ্ছে।

আহারে বাংলা’র হাত ধরেই বেশকিছু বাঙালি হোটেল, রেস্তোরাঁর রাজ্যের গন্ডি ছাড়িয়ে পড়েছে ভিন রাজ্যে। এবছরের আহারে বাংলা আশা করা যায় আগের বারের রেকর্ড ভাঙবে, জোর কদমে এখন থেকেই চলছে প্রস্তুতি।

প্রাণী সম্পদ উন্নয়ন দপ্তরের সঙ্গে হাত মিলিয়েছে মৎস্য, কৃষি বিপণন, ক্ষুদ্র ও কুটির শিল্প সহ আরও পাঁচটি দপ্তর। প্রাণী সম্পদ উন্নয়ন দপ্তরের আধিকারিকের কথায়, বর্ধমানের সীতাভোগ বা মিহিদানার সঙ্গে পাল্লা দিয়ে বিকোয় মুর্শিদাবাদের ছানাবড়া বা মেদিনীপুর নদীয়া কৃষ্ণনগরের মিষ্টি।

আগের বছর ভারতের সঙ্গে অংশ নিয়েছিল বাংলাদেশ, রাশিয়া, চীন, জাপানের বেশ কয়েকটি হোটেল, রেস্তোরাঁ। এবারও অংশ নেবে বিদেশী একাধিক সংস্থা। এবারে আহারে বাংলা ফুড ফেস্টিভালে দর্শকরাও তাদের মনপসন্দ রান্না করার সুযোগ পাবেন। শহরের সেরা শেফদের সামনে তারা তাদের রেসিপির দৌলতে জিতে নিতে পারবেন পুরস্কারও।

“Ahare Bangla” – the biggest food festival in the country – recorded an unbelievable 1.5 lakh footfall in the past five days compared to that of 65,000 last year. The turnover during this period was Rs 2.5 crore which is double the amount earned last year from the festival.

The festival has become one of the most popular fair organised by the state government in Milan Mela Ground resulting in increase in footfall and quantum of business by manifold. Tuesday was the last day of the festival that had begun on October 21.

Last year the total footfall was around 65,000. This time it has gone up to around 1.5 lakh till Tuesday evening. At the same time, the total amount of sale in the festival had gone up to Rs 2.5 crore compared to that of Rs 1.25 crore in 2015.

It may be mentioned that the festival is one of the pet projects of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and she had inspired all the senior officials of the concerned departments to take necessary steps to make the festival more popular as it was not only for amusement of the people but it also provides a platform for good business to the people involved in food industry.

Many traders from the rural parts of the State, who participated in the festival, had got opening to initiate their business in the city and its adjoining areas with support of investors here.

This was the first time when a separate block has been created as “International Pavilion” where four countries China, Russia, Bangladesh and Bhutan had participated. There were some stalls in the food festival where there always used to be queue of people to take food from the counters. Thus based on popularity, three awards were given.

The award for “most innovative recipe” was given for a preparation called duck-a-salan and it was prepared by Sigree restaurant.

West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation had won the award for preparing the most popular food in the festival which is a duck roast and the All Fish Restaurant of West Bengal Fisheries Development Corporation (WBFDC) had received the award for the most popular restaurant in the festival. There always used to be queue of people in the restaurant of the WBFDC in the festival because of the “mouth watering” preparations it had served.

 

দ্বিতীয় বছরে জনপ্রিয়তার তুঙ্গে ‘আহারে বাংলা’

দেশের বৃহত্তম খাদ্য উত্সব ‘আহারে বাংলা’ এবার সব রেকর্ডকে ছাপিয়ে গেল। গত বছর যেখানে জনসমাগম হয়েছিল ৬৫ হাজার, এবারে সেখানে ৫ দিনে জনসমাগম হল ১.৫ লক্ষ মানুষের। এবারের উত্সবে প্রায় ২.৫ কোটি টাকার মত বাণিজ্য হয়েছে যেটি আগের বছরের দ্বিগুন।

মিলন মেলায় অনুষ্ঠিত রাজ্য সরকারের পরিচালিত এই মেলাটি মাত্র এই দুবছরেই শ্রেষ্ঠ মেলার একটিতে পরিণত হয়েছে, শুধুমাত্র জনসমাগমের দিক দিয়ে না, ব্যবসার দিক দিয়েও।

প্রসঙ্গত বলা যেতে পারে এই মেলাটি মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর অন্যতম প্রিয় প্রকল্পের একটি। কারণ এর মাধ্যমে শুধু যে জনসমাগম বা মনোরঞ্জন হয় তাই নয় বরং খাদ্যশিল্পে জড়িয়ে থাকা একটি বিরাট অংশের মানুষের ভালো পরিমান আয় হয় এই মেলাটিকে কেন্দ্র করে। তাই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সংশ্লিষ্ট দফতরের আধিকারিকদের নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলেন যে এই মেলাটিকে জনপ্রিয় করে তুলতে সরকার যেন প্রয়োজনীয় সব ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করে।

অনেক গ্রামীণ ব্যবসায়ী যারা এই খাদ্যশিল্পে নিযুক্ত আছেন তারা এই মেলার মাধ্যমে এখানকার উদ্যোগপতিদের সহায়তায় কলকাতা ও তার পার্শবর্তী অঞ্চলে বাণিজ্য শুরু করার সুযোগ পেলেন।

এই প্রথম বার এখানে বিদেশি খাবারের জন্য একটি আলাদা বিভাগ করা হয়েছিল, যেখানে চীন, রাশিয়া, ভুটান ও বাংলাদেশ অংশগ্রহণ করেছিল তাদের জনপ্রিয় খাদ্যভান্ডারের ঝাঁপি নিয়ে। কিছু কিছু খাবারের স্টলে সবসময় লাইন দেখা গেছে খাবার নেওয়ার জন্য। এই জনপ্রিয়তার ওপর ভিত্তি করে তিনটি পুরস্কারও প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

শীঘ্রই রেস্টুরেন্টের “ডাক-এ-সালান”, সব থেকে নতুনত্ব খাবারের পুরস্কার পেয়েছে। রাজ্য প্রাণী সম্পদ দফতরের ডাক-রোস্ট পেয়েছে সব থেকে জনপ্রিয় খাবারের তকমা। রাজ্য মত্স দফতরের সবকটি স্টল জনপ্রিয়তম রেস্টুরেন্টের খেতাব পেয়েছে।

The second edition of Ahare Bangla, conceptualised by Mamata Banerjee to render a platform to the agricultural products of the state’s farmers, was inaugurated today at the Milan Mela grounds.

From this year, foreign participation will also start at the food fest, with Bangladesh, China and Russia to be represented by their consulates.

Another innovative idea being launched this year is awards for the best innovative recipe and the most popular recipe, to be decided by a panel of judges.

Thirty renowned restaurateurs, four State Government organisations and 23 sweet shops are scheduled to participate and serve food at the five-day-long culinary extravaganza.

A special zone with seven stalls will be installed to showcase ‘theme food’ during the festival. Traditional Bengali vegetarian recipes (on October 22), colonial effect on Bengali cuisine (October 23), eggs (October 24) and fish (October 25) will be featured as theme foods.

All the four permanent hangars at Milan Mela will be utilised as food courts. One of them will showcase international food while another, named Ahare Biki Kini, will have 28 stalls selling raw food, food ingredients and ready-to-eat food, set up by government or government-promoted organisations.

 

 

শুরু হল ‘আহারে বাংলা’ খাদ্য উৎসব

দুর্গা পুজোর রেশ কাটতে না কাটতেই বাঙালি ফের মেতে উঠবে রসনা তৃপ্তির নতুন উদযাপনে৷ আজ থেকেই পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের উদ্যোগে কলকাতা মিলন মেলায় শুরু হল ‘আহারে বাংলা’ উৎসব৷ এবার রাশিয়া, চিন ও বাংলাদেশও এই উৎসবে অংশগ্রহণ করছে।

২১ থেকে ২৫ অক্টোবর পাঁচ দিন ব্যাপী চলবে এই উৎসব। শহরের ৩০ টি নামী রেস্তরাঁ, ৪টি সরকারী সন্সথা এবং ২৩ টি মিষ্টির দোকান অংশ নেবে এই উৎসবে।

যেখানে বাঙালির বাঙালির ইলিশ, পোস্তো, চিংড়ির পাশেই ঠাঁই পাবে রোস্টেড ডাক, সেজোয়ান চিকেন, তন্দুরি কোয়েলের পসরা৷

একটি বিশেষ জোন তৈরি করা হয়েছে  যেখানে উৎসবের পাশাপাশি তাদের থিম ফুড প্রদর্শন করবে ৭ টি স্টল। ২৮ টি স্টল বসানো হচ্ছে যেখানে কাঁচা জিনিস, খাদ্য উপাদান ইত্যাদি পাওয়া যাবে। সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় রেসিপি গুলিকে বিশেষ পুরস্কার দেওয়া হবে।

রাজ্যের বাজার থেকেই সবজি কিনে বিদেশি মুখরোচক খাবার তৈরি করে বিক্রি করবে বিদেশি স্টলগুলি৷ আজ এই  উৎসবের উদ্বোধন করবেন পঞ্চায়েত মন্ত্রী সুব্রত মুখোপাধ্যায়৷ উপস্থিত থাকবেন পুর ও নগরোন্নয়ন দফতরের মন্ত্রী ফিরহাদ হাকিম, দমকল মন্ত্রী শোভন চট্টোপাধ্যায়৷

Buoyed by the success of the previous year, the ‘Ahare Bangla – A Unique Food Festival celebrating Bengal’ showcasing the popular and gourmet cuisine of the state shall be inaugurated on 21st October, 2016 at 6 P.M. at Milan Mela Ground (Opposite Science City) Kolkata. Going by the response of the last year’s festival, this year it shall be held in a larger area having a one time sitting capacity of about 2500 people. The entry of the festival is free and it will remain open from 12 Noon to 9 P.M. for further four days starting from 22nd October, 2016 to 25th October, 2016.

This five days long food carnival is going to be organized by the Animal Resources Development Department of Government of West Bengal in association with other concerned departments of the Government, namely, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises & Textiles, Information and Cultural Affairs, Food Processing Industries & Horticulture, Fisheries and Agricultural Marketing.

Sufal Bangla, West Bengal State Export Promotion Society, West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation Limited, West Bengal State Fisheries Development Corporation Ltd, Benfish, West Bengal State Food Processing & Horticulture Development Corporation Limited and Mother Dairy Calcutta have partnered to showcase their conventional as well as innovative products in the festival.

The principal objective of this unique Food Carnival is to promote the Food and Food Processing Industries in the State. This Fair shall provide a platform where the producers and the consumers can interact under one roof and which in turn shall directly benefit the larger farming community of the State.

West Bengal has many unique varieties of rice namely, black aromatic rice popularly known as Kalabhat, short grained aromatic rice Kalonunia, Gobindabhog, Tulaipanji, Kataribhog etc. similarly, pulses such as Sonamug, Bhajakalai dal etc. and some exotic vegetables are found only in this part of the country which will be displayed in the fair.

The Animal Recourses Development Department shall promote various non-conventional meat and meat products of Quail, Turkey, Rabbit, Emu, Pork (including special Ghunghroo variety), Black Bengal goat, Bonopala lamb, Garole lamb. The Fisheries Department will exhibit new varieties of fish with high productivity and taste such as Vennami, Pungus, Vietnam Koi etc. All the items mentioned here, be it a aromatic rice varieties or precious pulses or various conventional or non-conventional meat and meat products or the latest products or Mother Diary Calcutta or the delicacies of rare and exotic fish, shall be available for both exhibition and retail sale at the fair.

Further, renowned restaurants and caterers of the city will partner with the Government to bring their diversified cuisine in a unique interactive setting where anyone can see, eat and buy.

A special zone in the form of “Theme Food” will feature innovative and separate themes each day and a kid zone will be set up which would be an added attraction of this year’s carnival.

 

আয়োজিত হতে চলেছে ‘আহারে বাংলা’-র দ্বিতীয় বর্ষ

গত বছরের অভূতপূর্ব সাফল্যের পর এই বছরেও আগামী ২১ অক্টোবর সন্ধ্যা ৬টায় মিলন মেলা প্রাঙ্গনে সারা বাংলার সমস্ত সমৃদ্ধ খাবারের সম্ভার নিয়ে উদ্বোধন করা হবে ‘আহারে বাংলা ২০১৬’। এই বছর এই মেলাটি আরো বড় আকারে করা হবে, যাতে ২৫০০মানুষ একত্রে বসতে পারেন। এই মেলাটিতে জনসাধারণ বিনামূল্যে প্রবেশ করতে পারবেন। মেলাটি চলবে ২২ থেকে ২৫ অক্টোবর পর্যন্ত দুপুর ১২টা থেকে রাত ৯টা অবধি। এই মেলাটির আয়োজক রাজ্য প্রাণী সম্পদ দফতর, ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্প দফতর, তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি দফতর, খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ দফতর, উদ্যানপালন দফতর, মত্স দফতর।

সুফল বাংলা, রাজ্য প্রাণিসম্পদ বিকাশ দফতর, বেনফিশ, খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ দফতর, মাদার ডেয়ারী সহ আরো অনেক দফতর নিজেদের তৈরী বিভিন্ন খাদ্য ভান্ডার নিয়ে ওখানে উপস্থিত থাকবে। এই মেলাটির মুখ্য উদ্দেশ্য হচ্ছে খাদ্য ও খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ দফতরের উন্নয়ন।

এখানে ক্রেতা ও চাষীরা সরাসরি কথা বলতে পারবেন যার ফলে চাষীরা উপকৃত হবেন। বিভিন্ন ধরণের চাল ও ডাল ও কিছু সবজি যা দেশের মধ্যে একমাত্র বাংলাতেই পাওয়া যায়, সেই সব ধরণের সামগ্রী এই মেলাতে মজুত থাকবে।

প্রাণী সম্পদ দফতর বিভিন্ন ধরণের মাংস ও মত্স দফতর বিভিন্ন ধরণের মত্স ভান্ডারিয়ে উপস্থিত হবে এই মেলায়।এই সমস্ত ধরণের খাদ্য সামগ্রী ওখানে দেখাও যাবে ও খুচরো পরিমানে কেনাও যাবে। বিভিন্ন নামকরা রেস্টুরেন্ট ও ক্যাটারাররাও তাদের বিখ্যাত খাবার নিয়ে ওখানে উপস্থিত থাকবে।প্রতিদিন আলাদা আলাদা করে কিছু নতুন খাবারকে ‘থিম ফুড’ হিসেবে রাখা হবে। শিশুদের জন্য থাকবে ‘কিড জোন’।

To promote various types of food produced by farmers of West Bengal, the State Government will organise a food fest from October 30.

The four-day-long “Ahare Bangla – a food festival celebrating Bengal” at Milan Mela grounds would feature unique food products from the state like agricultural produce, fish, meat etc.

West Bengal is home to many unique varieties of rice like black aromatic rice, short grained aromatic rice ‘kalo nunia’, ‘gobinda bhog’, ‘tuali panji’ and others.

West Bengal Animal Resources Development department promote various non-conventional and exotic meat products such as quail, turkey, rabbit, emu, pork etc, while the fisheries department would promote new varieties of fish with high productivity and improved taste like ‘vennami’, ‘pungus’, ‘Vietnam koi’ etc.

Top restaurants and caterers of the city have been brought on the platform. The festival would be interspersed with ethnic cultural programmes, cookery shows, panel discussions and B2B summits.

A talkshow would be hosted by master chefs like Anjan Chatterjee, Sujit Sinha and Joymalya Banerjee.

Cookery classes on how to make authentic Bengali dishes would be another attraction at the fest.
