Trinamool MPs rock Parliament over fuel price-hike
The issue of fuel price hike rocked Parliament today when the Trinamool Congress members in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha raised their voices against the fuel-price hike. `Roll back price hike in petrol,` was heard in both the houses each time the Speaker tried to convene the House.

Earlier in the day, Trinamool MP Mr. Derek O'Brien in Rajya Sabha raised the issue of petrol prices being hiked a day after the Union Budget was presented. `Petrol price was hiked one day after the Budget is presented. What is the sanctity of Parliament then? This is not acceptable`, said the MP.

The opposition members felt that the announcement of hike of Rs 1.40 in petrol price on Friday last should have been done inside the House when it is in session.

Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha experienced interruptions. The Lok Sabha was adjourned twice without transacting any business till 2 PM before being adjourned for the day.
Trinamool MP Mr. Sukhendu Sekhar Roy slammed the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government for the regular hike in fuel prices, `This is totally unacceptable, the Government cannot site the plea of price hike of crude oil in the international market as the reason behind regular hike in prices of petroleum products`, said Mr. Roy.
The Rajya Sabha experienced four adjournments till 3 PM. The House was adjourned till 11 AM on Tuesday.
Lok Sabha witnessed two adjournments, the Rajya Sabha saw three. `This inflation can be checked but unfortunately the Central Government is doing nothing but going on increasing the  petroleum prices creating an extra burden on consumers. We wanted a detailed discussion on this issue for which we informed the House giving prior notice but our request was ignored`, said Mr. Roy.
Excerpts from Trinamool MP Mr. Mr. Derek O'Brien`s speech in Rajya Sabha:
SHRI DEREK O'BRIEN: Sir, there is petrol price hike right in the middle when Parliament is in Session.
SHRI DEREK O'BRIEN: How can they increase without informing the Parliament?
SHRI DEREK O'BRIEN: Petrol price was hiked one day after the Budget is presented…What is the sanctity of Parliament then?..No, Sir .This is not acceptable.
Excerpts from Trinamool MP Mr. Sukhendu Sekhar Roy`s speech in Rajya Sabha:
