Prime Minister is blind to the sufferings of people: Mamata Banerjee
Maintaining her attack on the Centre over the issue of demonetisation, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today accused the Prime Minister of being blind to the sufferings of common people. She was addressing a public meeting in Bankura.
“Farmers are suffering. People do not have cash to buy supplies. Traders are also suffering but PM fails to see their woes. By the time realisation dawns on him, nation will be destroyed,” she said.
“There are long queues outside banks. Labourers are not getting wages under 100 days work. How will their families run?” the CM said. “Even Venezuela started demonetisation but when they saw people are suffering, the decision was withdrawn,” she added.
She also warned against attempts being made to disturb the peace in the State. “Bengal is a land of harmony, peace & progress. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians all live together here,” she said.
The CM added that she will continue to work for the people as long as she is alive.

নোট বাতিল নিয়ে আবারও কেন্দ্রকে আক্রমণ করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এদিন বাঁকুড়ায় একটি জনসভায় প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে আক্রমণ করে তিনি বলেন সাধারণ মানুষ চরম দুর্ভোগে অথচ প্রধানমন্ত্রী নিশ্চুপ।
তিনি বলেন, “কৃষকরা ভুগছে, তারা চাষের জন্য বীজ কিনতে পারছেন না। সাধারণ মানুষের কাছে টাকা নেই নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিস কেনার। ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসায়ীরা সাংঘাতিকভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত, তাদের ব্যবসা বন্ধ, কিন্তু প্রধানমন্ত্রী এসব কিছুই দেখতে পাচ্ছেন না। যখন তিনি বুঝতে পারবেন ততদিনে দেশ ধ্বংস হয়ে যাবে”।
তিনি আরও বলেন, “ব্যাংকে লম্বা লাইন। ১০০ দিনের শ্রমিকরা মজুরি পাচ্ছে না। তারা কিভাবে তাদের সংসার চালাবে? ভেনেজুয়েলা নোট বাতিল করেছিল, কিন্তু যখন তারা দেখেছে সাধারণ মানুষ সমস্যার সম্মুখীন তখন তারা তাদের সিদ্ধান্ত প্রত্যাহার করে নিয়েছে”।
তিনি বলেন বাংলার শান্তি শৃঙ্খলা ভঙ্গ করার চেষ্টা করলে তা বরদাস্ত করা হবে না। তিনি বলেন, “বাংলা সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি, শান্তি ও প্রগতির জায়গা। এখানে হিন্দু, মুসলমান, শিখ, খ্রিস্টান সবাই একসঙ্গে থাকে”।
সবশেষে তিনি বলেন, “যতদিন বেঁচে থাকব মানুষের জন্য কাজ করে যাব”।
