Pontoon jetties in South 24 Parganas for smoother journeys
To make journeys smoother, the State Government has planned to build a network of pontoon jetties (i.e., floating jetties) spread across the riverine belt of South 24 Parganas district, which is part of the Sundarbans delta.
The jetties would be all-season all-day structures. Be it summer, winter or rainy season, or high tide or low tide, the jetties would be operational at all times, bringing to an end a major headache for locals for whom crossing rivers is a part of daily activities.
In the first stage, 12 jetties would be constructed at a cost of Rs 4 crore. The PWD and Transport Departments are jointly doing the work, a survey for which has already started. A few of the pontoon jetties would be of an international standard.
The jetties would come up at Ramganga and G Plot in Patharpratima block, Frasergunj in Bakkhali, Pakhiralay and Rangabelia in Gosaba, Dayapur in Satjelia, Jharkhali in Basanti, Kaikhali in Kultali, Kochuberia and Benuban in Sagar, Namkhana and Kakdwip.

যাতায়াত সুগম করতে ১২টি পণ্টুন জেটি তৈরির পরিকল্পনা
সুন্দরবনের দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগণায় যাতায়াত আরও সুগম করতে রাজ্য সরকার পণ্টুন জেটি (ভাসমান জেটি) পরিষেবা চালু করছে। এই জেটিগুলি সব আবহাওয়ায়, সারাদিন চালু থাকবে। গ্রীষ্ম, শীত, বর্ষা, জোয়ার, ভাঁটা সব পরিস্থিতিতেই এই জেটি চালু থাকবে। যা নিত্যযাত্রীদের খুব উপকারে লাগবে।
প্রথম দফায়, ১২ টি জেটি তৈরি হবে ৪ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে। পূর্ত ও পরিবহণ দপ্তর যৌথভাবে এই প্রকল্পটি সম্পন্ন করবে। এর জন্য সমীক্ষা ইতিমধ্যে শুরু হয়ে গেছে। কয়েকটি জেটি হবে আন্তর্জাতিক মানের।
এই জেটিগুলি হবে, পাথরপ্রতিমা ব্লকের রামগঙ্গা ও জি প্লটে, বকখালির ফ্রেসারগঞ্জে, গোসাবার পাখিরালয় ও রঙ্গাবেলিয়া, সাতজেলিয়ার দয়াপুর, বাসন্তির ঝড়খালি, কুলতলির কৈখালী, সাগরের কচুবেড়িয়া ও বেনুবন, কাকদ্বীপ ও নামখানায়।
