Nayachar set to have power plants, eco-friendly projects

The Minister of Industries, Mr. Partha Chatterjee received proposals of setting up power plants, industrial park and eco-tourism facility at Nayachar from private sector.
The new project blueprint follows the Mamata Banerjee government-stated stand against setting up a chemical hub in the island.
Promoters plan to invest Rs 8,400 crore in developing infrastructure at the 4,000 acres industrial park and 6,000 acres eco-friendly tourism project, a further Rs 12,000 crore will be used to build the 2,000 MW power-plant to be built in two phases.
After meeting, Industry Minister said, ` Fresh projects are always welcome. We are willing to make a fresh start. Appreciating the stand, fresh proposal has been submitted and we are considering.`
`We will review these proposals and will also examine whether they have all necessary approvals. If they have all clearances, we will not make any unnecessary delay in giving the green signal to them,` Mr Chatterjee added.
