`Nabaratna 2011` receives Bangabibhushan Award
Kolkata, July 25: West Bengal government conferred `Bangabibhushan` award on nine eminent personalities who have excelled in their respective fields. The award is an initiative taken by the West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee who took the initiative to constitute the award as recognition to the work done by respective people across various field. “We have decided to recognize the work of those who have contributed in the field of art, culture, music, cinema and sports.
The first ` Bangabibhushan` this year was conferred on world acclaimed personalities like dancer Amala Shankar, singer Sandhya Mukherjee, Manna Dey and Dwijen Mukherjee, eminent writer and social activist Mahasweta Devi, veteran footballer Sailen Manna and actors Supriya Devi and Haradhan Banerjee.
