More buses to connect Kolkata with north Bengal
In consonance with the directions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Transport Department of the Bengal Government has taken the initiative to increase daily bus services between Kolkata and North Bengal following the heavy inundation there. North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) will be operating the buses.
From August 16, the number of buses connecting Siliguri and Kolkata has gone up to 20 every day from six. Help desks have been set up by NBSTC at the Esplanade L20 Bus Terminus in Kolkata and at the Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus in Siliguri.
Increased frequency of services would also cover the routes between Kolkata and Raiganj, Cooch Behar and Balurghat. The number of buses between Raiganj and Kolkata has been increased from 10 to 14, between Cooch Behar and Kolkata from four to 10, and between Balurghat and Kolkata from eight to 12.
NBSTC is also preparing to increase the number of buses on the critical route of Malda-Dalkhola-Kishangunj-Siliguri.

বন্যা কবলিত অঞ্চলের সাহায্যার্থে বাস পরিষেবা বাড়াল রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর
উত্তর বঙ্গে বন্যা হওয়ায় রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে কলকাতা থেকে উত্তর বঙ্গের বিভিন্ন জায়গার বাস-পরিষেবা বাড়ানোর। উত্তর বঙ্গ রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ নিগম কলকাতা ও শিলিগুড়ি’র মধ্যে বাসের সংখ্যা ১৪টি বাড়িয়েছে।
গত বুধবার থেকে দৈনিক ৬’টির জায়গায় ২০’টি বাস যাতায়াত করবে কলকাতা ও শিলিগুড়ির মধ্যে। ১৭’টির জায়গায় ৬৮’টি বেসরকারি বাসকে পারমিট দেওয়া হয়েছে। রায়গঞ্জ থেকে কলকাতার মধ্যে বাসের সংখ্যা ১০থেকে বাড়িয়ে ১৪ করা হয়েছে। কোচবিহার ও কলকাতার মধ্যে বাসের সংখ্যা বেড়ে হয়েছে ১০ যা আগে ছিল ৪। বালুরঘাট ও কলকাতার মধ্যে বাসের সংখ্যা ৮ থেকে বাড়িয়ে ১২ করা হয়েছে।
দুর্গম মালদা-ডালখোলা-কিষাণগঞ্জ-শিলিগুড়ি রুটে বাস বাড়ানোর পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে উত্তর বঙ্গ রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ নিগমের। কলকাতার ধর্মতলায় এল-২০ বাস স্ট্যান্ডে একটি কেন্দ্র খোলা হয়েছে সব ধরনের সহায়তার জন্য। তেনজিং নোরগে বাস স্ট্যান্ডেও এরম একটি কেন্দ্র খোলা হয়েছে।
