Income of Bengal Transport Dept up by 30%
The transport corporations in the state witnessed a hike of around 30 percent in income in the past two years, Suvendu Adhikari, the state Transport minister, said at the State Assembly on Wednesday.
Soon after returning to power for the second time, the state Transport department had started taking several steps to minimise loss of all the transport corporations.
The first step of them was the amalgamation of Calcutta Tramways Corporation (CTC) and Calcutta State Transport Corporation (CSTC) and West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC) to form West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC). At present, there are two more corporations besides WBTC and they are North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) and South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC).
The amalgamation of the three Corporations had ensured effective use of the infrastructure and manpower. At the same time, real-time location tracking of buses and introduction of smart cards had helped in improving the service as well as revenue generation for the Corporations.
The Minister said the decision has been taken to buy 270 buses in the current fiscal. During Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s visit to different districts to hold administrative review meetings, people’s representatives approached her to introduce the bus services.
Following the Chief Minister’s instruction, more than 165 buses will be bought and for that it would take around two months’ time. He further added that around 600 buses have been bought in the past six years, but the subsidy has not gone up. Moreover, the new buses are fitted with CCTVs and GPS systems to ensure the security of passengers.
দুই বছরে রাজ্যে পরিবহণে আয় বেড়েছে ৩০ শতাংশ
রাজস্ব ক্ষতি আটকে এবং নয়া জিপিএস ব্যবস্থা চালু করে আগের তুলনায় পরিবহণ নিগমে আয়ের হার অনেকটাই বাড়ানো সম্ভব হয়েছে। গত দু’বছরে পরিবহণ নিগমে ৩০ শতাংশ আয় বৃদ্ধি হয়েছে। যা বর্তমান সরকারের অন্যতম সাফল্য। বুধবার বিধানসভা অধিবেশনে প্রশ্নোত্তর পর্বে এমনই তথ্য দিলেন পরিবহণ মন্ত্রী শুভেন্দু অধিকারি।
পরিবহণ মন্ত্রী বলেন, বর্তমান আমলে ধীরে ধীরে পরিবহণ ব্যবস্থার খোল-নোলচে বদলে ফেলা হচ্ছে। বিভিন্ন রুটে নয়া বাস চালু করা হয়েছে। নতুন রুটও চালু করা হয়েছে।
সবথেকে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ নেয় রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর সিটিসি, সিএসটিসি, ডব্লিউবিএসটিসি এই তিনটি সংস্থাকে এক ছাতার তলায় এনে ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল ট্রান্সপোর্ট কর্পোরেশন তৈরি করার। এছাড়া এই মুহূর্তে আরও ২টি কর্পোরেশন আছে, উত্তর বঙ্গ রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ সংস্থা (এনবিএসটিসি) ও উত্তর বঙ্গ রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ সংস্থা (এসবিএসটিসি)।
মূলত, কন্ডাক্টরদের একাংশের সঙ্গে যাত্রীদের যোগসাজশ থাকায় অনেক সময়ই আর্থিক ক্ষতি হচ্ছিল নিগমের। নিগমের ক্ষতি রাজ্য কোষাগারের উপরেও প্রভাব ফেলছিল। বিষয়টি নজরে আসতেই স্মার্ট কার্ড চালু করেছে, বাসে বাসে অভিযান জোরদার করেছে নিগম। এখানেই শেষ নয়, জিপিএস ব্যবস্থা চালু হওয়ায় সরকারি বাসের অবস্থান জানা সম্ভব হচ্ছে। ফলে সরকারি বাসগুলির উপরে নির্ভরতাও বেড়েছে। আর তাতে যাত্রীবহণও আগের তুলনায় বেড়েছে বলে নিগম সূত্রে খবর। রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় সমীক্ষা চালিয়ে যে জায়গাগুলিতে বাস সত্যিকারের প্রয়োজন রয়েছে, সেখানেই রুট চালু করা হবে।
বর্তমানে রাজ্য পরিবহণ নিগমের অধীনে ২ হাজার ৬৪৬টি বাস চালু রয়েছে। নিগমে স্থায়ী কর্মী রয়েছেন ১২ হাজার ৪২৯ জন।পরিবহণমন্ত্রী বলেন, মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বিভিন্ন জেলায় প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকে গিয়ে জনপ্রতিনিধিদের সঙ্গে কথা বলে নতুন বাসরুট-বাস চালুর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন। সেই মতো ১৫৬টি বাসরুট-বাস চালু করা হচ্ছে। কচুবেড়িয়া থেকে সাগরদ্বীপে যাওয়ার জন্য দু’-তিনটি বাস দেওয়া হবে। সেক্ষেত্রে সমস্যার অনেকটাই সমাধান হবে।
এছাড়াও চলতি আর্থিক বর্ষে ২৭০টি নতুন বাস কেনা হচ্ছে। যার মধ্যে ইলেকট্রিক বাস, ভলভো বাসসহ অত্যাধুনিক বাসও রয়েছে বলে বিধানসভায় জানান মন্ত্রী। পরিবহণ মন্ত্রী বলেন, সাগর, নামখানা, পাথরপ্রতিমাসহ গোটা সুন্দরবনে প্রায় ১৬টি নয়া জেটি তৈরির সিদ্ধান্ত হয়েছে। যার জন্য প্রায় ৩-৫ কোটি টাকা খরচ হবে। সারা রাজ্যে নয়া জেটি তৈরি করা হবে প্রায় ৩৫০টি। এ ব্যাপারে টেন্ডার প্রক্রিয়াও শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছে। অনেকটাই কাজ এগিয়ে গিয়েছে।
