Demonetisation is a major catastrophe: Mamata Banerjee
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today called demonetisation a “visionless policy”, which has caused “a major catastrophe”.
She wrote this in a post on Facebook, through which she expressed her deep anguish about the loss of jobs, especially in the unorganised sector.
She wrote, “Crores of people have become victims of visionless policy. It’s a major catastrophe”.
She went on to write that “the draconian decision of demonetisation by the Central Government has drastically affected about 5 crore workers in the country”.
“It is indeed a major setback for the employees since independence”.
Writing about the unorganised sector, Mamata Banerjee wrote, “According to reports, around 1.25 crore workers in the country in unorganised sector, e-commerce, leather, jute, textiles, glass, beedi, gems and jewellery sectors and daily wage earners under Government schemes like MNREGA have either lost jobs or have been seriously affected due to cash crunch”.
Even in the big industries, “retrenchment process is going on, which has made or will make huge number of workers jobless”.
She went on to write about her profound sorrow at the sufferings caused due to demonetisation: “I can feel with deep sorrow the extensive sufferings and ordeal that these people are going through now”.
She ended her post on a note of grave concern: “It is a matter of great concern that I wanted to share with all of you”.
নোটবাতিল একটি ভয়ঙ্কর বিপর্যয়ঃ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়
বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় আজ বলেন নোটবাতিল একটি দিগ্বিদিকহীন সিদ্ধান্ত যার ফলে এক ভয়াবহ বিপর্যয় সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।
তিনি তাঁর ফেসবুকে একটি লেখার মাধ্যমে এই নোটবাতিলের ফলে অসংগঠিত ক্ষেত্রে প্রচুর মানুষের কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়ার ঘটনায় ক্ষোভ জাহির করেছেন।
তিনি লেখেন, “এই দিশাহীন সিদ্ধান্ত প্রনয়ন করার ফলে কোটি কোটি মানুষ আজ জীবিকাহীন হয়ে পড়েছে, এক ভয়াবহ পরিস্থিতি উপস্থিত হয়েছে।“
তিনি আরো লেখেন, “কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের এই নোটবাতিলের কঠোর সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার ফলে রাতারাতি দেশ জুড়ে প্রায় পাঁচ কোটি মানুষ তাদের জীবিকা হারিয়েছে।“
“স্বাধীনতা লাভের পর কোন শ্রমজীবী মানুষকে এরম বিপদের সম্মুখীন হতে হয়নি।“
অসংগঠিত খেত্রের কথা বলতে গিয়ে তিনি লেখেন, “রিপোর্ট অনুযায়ী অসংগঠিত খেত্রের ১.২৫ কোটি কর্মী, ই-কমার্স, চর্ম শিল্প, পাট শিল্প, বস্ত্র শিল্প, কাচ শিল্প, বিড়ি, গহনা শিল্প ও সরকারি প্রকল্পে কর্মরত দিনমজুররা হয় পুরোপুরি জীবিকাহীন হয়ে পড়েছে বা চরম ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে নোটের যোগান না থাকায়।
“এমনকি বড় বড় শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানেও ছাঁটাই প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়েছে যা হয়ত ইতিমধ্যেই বা খুব শীঘ্রই আরও প্রচুর মানুষকে জীবিকাহীন করে দেবে।“
তিনি নোটবাতিলের ফলে মানুষের অভাবনীয় দুর্দশায় ব্যাথিত হয়ে আরও লেখেনঃ “আমি খুব দুঃখের সঙ্গে অনুভব করতে পারছি সাধারন মানুষ কি কথিন পরিস্থিতির মধ্যে দিয়ে তাদের দিন অতিবাহিত করছেন।“
তিনি সবশেষে লেখেন, “এটি একটি গভীর চিন্তার বিষয়, যা আমি আপনাদের সকলের সামনে তুলে ধরতে চাই।“
