Demonetisation a flop show, pointing to a scam: Mamata Banerjee
In light of the revelations by the Reserve Bank of India this evening, demonetisation has emerged as a flop show and points towards a scam, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said in a Facebook post.
“99% of the demonetized currency has come back to the RBI. Only one per cent has not returned. Demonetisation was supposedly done to uncover several lakhs of crores of black money. And now what we have got is a big big zero!” the CM said.
“Hundreds of people lost their lives. Crores of common people – farmers, workers, those engaged in informal sector, small enterprises and other most vulnerable sections of society suffered massive pain. Due to this “Notebandi”, the Nation has lost Rs.3 lakh crore of GDP in the fourth quarter alone,” she added.
“Was the system deliberately set up by Government of India to facilitate dealers of black money to convert black money into white in lakhs of crores? What was the hidden agenda? The people of India demand an answer and a thorough investigation on this,” Mamata Banerjee wrote in her Facebook post.
She added, “We have great regard and confidence on the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Since the demonetisation issue has been referred to the Constitution Bench, our humble prayer would be that the Hon’ble Supreme Court provides justice to the people of this country”.

নোট বাতিল নিয়ে রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্কের তথ্য প্রকাশের পর কেন্দ্রের এই সিদ্ধান্তকে ফ্লপ শো বললেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। তাঁর অভিযোগ, এসবই বড় কোনও কেলেঙ্কারির ইঙ্গিত করছে।
এদিন ফেসবুকে তিনি লেখেন, “৯৯ শতাংশ বাতিল নোট রিজার্ভ ব্যাঙ্কের কাছে ফেরত এসেছে। মাত্র ১ শতাংশ ফেরত আসেনি। নোট বাতিল করা হয়েছিল কয়েক লক্ষ কোটি মূল্যের কালো টাকা যাতে ফেরত আসে। আর এখন আমরা কী পেলাম? এ বিগ জিরো”।
“শতাধিক মানুষ প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন। কোটি কোটি সাধারণ মানুষ, কৃষক, শ্রমিক, অসংগঠিত ক্ষেত্র, সমাজের দুর্বলতর মানুষকে যন্ত্রণা ভোগ করতে হয়েছে। নোটবন্দির কারণে গত অর্থবর্ষের চতুর্থ কোয়ার্টারে দেশের তিন লক্ষ কোটি টাকার ক্ষতি হয়েছে”।
নোট বাতিলের আসল উদ্দেশ্য নিয়েও প্রশ্ন করে তিনি বলেন, “এই নোট বাতিলের মাধ্যমে কালো টাকার কারবারিদের হাতে থাকা কয়েক লক্ষ কোটি কালো টাকা সাদা করার রাস্তা করে দেয়নি তো ভারত সরকার? গোপন agenda টি কি? দেশের জনগণ এর জবাব ও তদন্ত দাবি করে”।
তিনি আরও বলেন, “সুপ্রিম কোর্টের ওপর আমাদের অগাধ আস্থা ও ভরসা রয়েছে। যেহেতু নোট বাতিল সংক্রান্ত মামলা শীর্ষ আদালতের সাংবিধানিক বেঞ্চে শুনানি হচ্ছে, তাই সুপ্রিম কোর্টের কাছে আমরা দেশবাসীর প্রতি সুবিচারের অনুরোধ করছি।
