CM on district-visit, first stop- Darjeeling

Paschimbanga Chief Minster Ms. Mamata Banerjee is traveling to Darjeeling, which is her first stop for the tour of districts of the state. She reached Bagdogra airport around afternoon and from there she set off for Darjeeling. Ms. Banerjee is accompanied by the Mayor.

 

A group of tribal men and women greeted her with their traditional folk dance and music at the Bagdogra airport.

Ms. Mamata Banerjee  who has touched the hearts of these simple people in the Hills as she was the first to have reached them when the devastating earthquake took place in North Bengal and Sikkim last month. People in large numbers had gathered at both sides of the roads en route to Darjeeling to greet her. Didi too reciprocating the love and affection got down at several places and greeted the public. She got down at Sourini and met the labourers employed in the tea estate and inquired them if they were facing any problems which they want to address to the Chief Minister. Ms. Banerjee even took stock of the quality of the tea leaves. 

The convoy of Chief Minister stopped at various places due to the crowd waiting to greet their favorite `Didi`. Ms. Banerjee too who is already late as usually it takes nearly two and half to three hours to reach Darjeeling from Bagdogra showed no sign of being disturbed least bothered on getting late. On the contrary was showed excitement and interacted with them. Ms. Banerjee even made it a point to stop get down at places to have a better interaction with the locals. 

Ms. Banerjee is expected to meet the Morcha leaders in the evening and has a series of programme lined up for her on Tuesday.
