#BengalPolls Did the Prime Minister get his facts wrong? Or was he lying?
• “Mamata Didi or Trinamool should have replied to that letter”
• “The EC served her a notice not as the CM but as a Trinamool candidate”
• “Mamata Didi did not reply but the Chief Secretary replied on behalf of her”
The letter from the EC is a public document. The tech-savvy Modi could have read it even online.
As you see below, it is addressed to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee (not the Trinamool Congress or the candidate from Bhowanipore assembly constituency).
So the Chief Secretary replying to a letter addressed to the Chief Minister is in order.

আজ কৃষ্ণনগরের জনসভায় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু বিষয়ঃ
- “মমতা দিদি বা তৃণমূলের উচিত চিঠিটির উত্তর দেওয়া”
- “মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে নোটিস দিয়েছে নির্বাচন কমিশন কিন্তু তা মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হিসেবে নয়, তৃণমূল প্রার্থী হিসেবে”
- “মমতা দিদি উত্তর দেননি, কিন্তু তার হয়ে জবাব দিয়েছেন মুখ্য সচিব”
নির্বাচন কমিশনের এই চিঠিটি একটি প্রকাশ্য নথি। মোদিজি এটা অনলাইনেও পড়তে পারতেন।
নিচে দেখলে দেখতে পাবেন নির্বাচন কমিশনের তরফ থেকে কে চিঠিটি পাঠানো হয়েছে তাতে ‘মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী’ বলে তাঁকে সম্বোধন করা হয়েছে, (ভবানীপুর বিধানসভা কেন্দ্রের তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস প্রার্থী বলে সম্বোধন করা হয়নি)।
নিয়ম অনুযায়ী মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে পাঠানো চিঠির উত্তর দেন মুখ্যসচিব। তাই সেই নিয়ম মেনেই নির্বাচন কমিশনের মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে করা শো-কজের চিঠির উত্তর দিয়েছেন মুখ্য সচিব।
